Playoff Lenny Shuffling Off To Buffalo?

October 17th, 2023

Signing with Bills imminent?

UPDATED THIS MORNING: Well, that didn’t take long.

Last night, Joe speculated that with the Bucs’ run game stuck in reverse — it’s worse than last year when the Bucs had the worst running game in the NFL — the team might throw a Hail Mary at the end of the trade deadline (Halloween, which is two weeks from today) and perhaps bring back Playoff Lenny.

Hey, at least Playoff Lenny would be fresh. And maybe, just maybe, he could flash some of that magic he provided the Bucs in 2020 and 2021.

Well, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Playoff Lenny is flying to Buffalo later this morning to talk turkey with the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo is 4-2 and in second place in the AFC East.

So it appears Playoff Lenny just might, be employed again by the end of the day.

((UPDATE: A new report by Schultz says Fournette’s visit was canceled because the Bills learned they will not lose one of their practice squad running backs.))

Clearly, Playoff Lenny wanted to go to a winner. And Joe isn’t sure if Playoff Lenny would want to return to the Bucs. He said before he was released he didn’t think the Bucs were committed to winning as they were when Tom Brady was here.

If the Bucs don’t do anything to fix this run game, it will prove Playoff Lenny’s words about the Bucs correct.

  2. garro Says:

Ouch Joe. We already have Lenny 2.0.

    LOL

    Go Bucs!

  3. D Cone Says:

Don’t be surprised if Lenny stops off in Detroit on his way back .Lions have one cold game in Chicago in December and might be more attractive with dollars being even.

  4. Fansince76 Says:

Damn, looks like another good back is going to be off the market!
WTF are the Bucs doing? has White hypnotized Jason and Todd or something?

  5. gotbbucs Says:

He asked for his release from this team. There is no chance that management would call him back.

  6. Manny Says:

I thought Canales was going to focus on and improve the run game? Oh, well. I also thought there was a quarterback competition when clearly there wasn’t. Oh, well. It’s a Bucs life.

  7. DoooshLaRue Says:

I think Rachaad lets Jason braid his hair and Licht really likes that aspect of the relationship.

  8. Jeff’s grandpa Says:

He’s probably 30 lbs overweight anyway

  9. SufferingSince76 Says:

Lenny seems to require more motivation than Tampa Bay can provide.

  10. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Any players still on the market in week 6 are by definition NOT good players.

  11. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Sign ROJO……he’s a FA.

….cause rashad white is simply not cutting it

….RW dances too much before he even hits the hole and the then when he gets contact, you don’t really see any kinda of physicallity in his runs either……….he’s running like he’s a 180 pound scat back!!!!!

Playoff Lenny may have been slow and wasn’t really shifty….but atleast dude dragged people a few yards after contact…….RW does not.

  12. rrsrq Says:

Makes sense, the Bills offense sputters and Josh Allen needs an outlet other than Diggs

  13. Glass Half Full Guy Says:

Lenny is the best FA running back out there and is exactly what we need…a bruiser. Ppl forget he had way more than 1000 yards from scrimmage last year (1191 to be exact) and we lose nothing in the passing game with him out there (plus ball security…zero fumbles lost in his career).

You also don’t tip your hand when you have to bring in a “3rd down specialist” giving the D a pretty good idea where you want to go with the ball.

There’s still an option for a 12 or 11 game rental of Derrick Henry at the trade deadline. If the Bucs brass doesn’t at least engage in some talks with the Titans, it’s malpractice. He’s smart and experienced so maybe a fresh set of eyes could add a little something to our run designs and schemes too. He has plenty of cred to want to listen when he speaks.

Why rent? The Bucs look to be capable of making the playoffs. Getting past the first round and having at least a second post-season game has dollar benefits for the team(especially if it’s at home) and players individually. If Henry can help add even one extra win during the season, that greatly increases our chances at a higher seed if we get past the first round and a second home game.

The stubbornness of “We picked R. White high in the draft so we’re sticking with him” is pure ego-first nonsense. He’s a good RB2. Deal with it.

  14. Bucs Fans Says:

I love Lenny. Wish him the best. Hope he gets another ring

  15. CAbucsfan Says:

    Dalvin Cook is available

  16. J Dubb Says:

Let’s trade for Rashaad Penny or sign Darrell Henderson. They won’t break the bank and have played in this Sea/LA Ram offense so they can get acclimated rather quickly.

  17. Tbbucs3 Says:

Trade for a even washed Dalvin Cook and he immediately becomes the best RB on the team.

Pass on ROJO and Lenny….Rojo isnt good and Lenny is slow and lead the worst rushing attack in the league last season.

  18. BradyGronk Fan Says:

Tbbucs, having the worst rushing attack starts with the OL. They were bad.

The OL is better this year, but the rushing attack is still the worse. The team could use a bruiser who has some magic. I think Lenny can provide that for one more year and the team doesn’t have to give any draftbpicks for him.

  19. Pewter Power Says:

If the Bucs don’t do anything to fix this run game, it will prove Playoff Lenny’s words about the Bucs correct

Nonsense because I guess you forgot the starter you’re complaining about replaced Lenny mid season. If the Bucs aren’t committed to winning then he’s not committed to being a good football player
