Why Should Bucs O-Line Look “Lethargic?”

Joe was under the impression that Raheem the Dream was giving the Bucs a break?
First, Saturday was hardly a practice; more like a football carnival. Joe understands all the players went through some drills but it wasn’t like a hard-hitting, intense two-hour practice in the middle of the roasting Florida afternoon sun.
Then, Sunday, Raheem the Dream gave the team the day off.
Joe assumes between the two decisions by Raheem the Dream, the Bucs would have refreshed legs and have a vibrant practice today.
That doesn’t seem to be the case for the offensive line. That’s the work Twittered by Tampa Tribune’s eye-RAH! Kaufman who scolded the Bucs offensive line on the TBO Bucs Twitter feed this morning.
Bucs OL looks sloppy and lethargic right now.
Interestingly, Rick Brown of the Lakeland Ledger noted practice this morning had some intensity, as he Twittered from One Buc Palace.
Maybe the offensive line decided to do some bonding yesterday, and perhaps bonded a bit too much?

Joe, it has been an odd training camp. I hear conflicting reports like this all the time. It is hard to figure oput what is going on over there. I guess it is all subjective.

Man, I just read an article by Pro Football Focus and they really lit into Davin Joseph. Kinda stung a bit.
The Bucs offensive line ranking per PFF:
No. 31 — Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Run No. 31, Pass No. 28, Penalties No. 25) Nobody underperformed as much as this group. Donald Penn, Jeremy Trueblood and Jeff Faine can and must do better. In fact, in 2008 Penn and Trueblood had extremely creditable years. It was a remarkable decline.
Best Player: Penn was very poor at LT, but it’s a mark of how badly the whole line played that he was still better than the rest.
Biggest Concern: That someone, somewhere (who has a vote) thinks Davin Joseph is a Pro Bowler. He’s not a bad pass protector, but surely a RG makes waves through his sound run-blocking and in that respect, Joseph is the worst of an awful group.

This is an example of what I mean by it being hard to know, since all these guys seem to have different views.
While Price runs on the middle field the rest of the team is going through an 11-on-11 drill. From the look and sound of it you have to think Coach Raheem Morris is going to be real happy with the tempo. These guys are really popping each other this morning.

Off topic here:
In light of the recent tragedy that occurred in St Pete, where a drunk driver killed a man and his three sons by driving through a red light at 80mph, I think it is very poor taste to criticize Trueblood for making the smart choice and calling his mother for a safe ride home.
Last friday, I drove passed an accident where a 77 yr old woman pulled out in front of a motorcyclist on East Lake Blvd (in Tarpon Springs), which ended in the cyclist’s death. I had an unfortunate view of the deceased covered with a bloody sheet.
I still haven’t been able to shake that image and probably never will. I’ve lost three friends to car accidents.
Too few of us lack respect for the road and it’s capacity for tragedy.
I wish everyone safe travels this Fall (especially during the holiday season) and always.

@FGO…I had to shorten your name…I agree, and you should listen to that lawyer Joe is pimping. His comments about texting while driving are spot on. My fav bumper sticker is “Would your driving improve with that phone up your A–?”

Good point, but it supports both of us. I was not trying to say EYE-Rah was wrong, just that all of these beat writers seem to disagree on an hour by hour basis. Keep it coming though, we will see what is going on next weekend…of course I have a rare weekend presentation for work in Houston that day, so I think I am going to miss the game.

FGO- thanks, and safe travels to you also. Sorry about your friends. It’s really sad how quickly the people we love can be taken away from us. It changes your life forever. Mauha deeb- wow, that was as harsh a critique as I’ve seen leveled at our OL!! Hopefully they can change some opinions this year! Last year was a lot of issues that resulted in bad play. But, I’ve said before, I don’t think this group has ever lived up to it’s billing. The parts always seem greater than the whole. Hopefully that changes this year:)
