“Full Go”

October 13th, 2023

The Kancey Man can.

You wanted it, you got it. Calijah Kancey is on his way.

The Bucs first-round draft pick of a defensive tackle will make his home debut Sunday against the Lions, Creamsicle Day. That’s the word from Bucs coach Todd Bowles this afternoon when he pronounced Kancey “full go” for Sunday.

Bowles also labeled Mike Evans and Jamel Dean “full go” too, so it looks like the Bucs will be close to 100 percent for the Lions.

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. The fly in the ointment here is Shaq Barrett who contacted an undisclosed illness this week. Bowles said the Bucs will see how the Bucs’ sack king will be feeling tomorrow.

So Shaq is the lone question mark.

ME 13 Full Go as well

  5. Mike Johnson Says:

2 good teams. Somebody has to lose. Its gonna be a good one. I got my popcorn, wings, and libations ready. GO BUCS!

  6. deuceswild78 Says:

good to hear… gonna be a grind with such an early bye week

  7. DJB Says:

Very good news – let’s hit em with the 1-2 punch of Evans and Godwin, and set Palmer free as well.

  8. SOEbuc Says:

Lions had a very long list of DNP on Thursday.

  9. Upstate NY BUC Says:

If Laporta doesn’t go, changes improve drastically!! White needs to have that breakthrough game, Go Bucs!!!

  10. BucU Says:

Evans a full go much more important Sunday. Kancey basically hasn’t practiced or played for 2 months and change. I expect nothing from him whatsoever.
If I’m wrong fantastic. On the flip Mike is critical in this offense. Even when he’s not the target him just being on the field requires special attention from the D. Huge game. Go Bucs!!

  11. Texasbucsfan Says:

A few snaps does make a player. Only the future will determine how good he really is. To much hype for an unknown..

  12. Mike Says:

Ahhh yeah! Wanna see the young man fly around on Sunday and make some plays!

  13. Nate Says:

This just in sprain ankle out two more weeks.. just kidding

  14. unbelievable Says:

Unless it’s a real bad sickness, Shaq should be better by Sunday

  15. Defense Rules Says:

I’m with BucU & Texasbucsfan on this one. Kancey has already played 1 game, and walked away with 1 QB hit to his credit. True it was only 11 snaps, but it was still HIS 1st NFL game. Let him surprise us instead of putting unrealistic ‘savior’ expectations on him. We’ve got 2 other 1st Rnd picks in our Front-7 (JTS & Hall) who need to have break-out games just as much.

  16. TheBucsAnthem Says:

……and how many D-lineman has Beer Licht drafted that were either busts and hardly made impact before being released????? Don’t say Vita either…..cause he’s an exception…….so is it only ONE player on the past 10 years????? 🤔

This organization is absolutely abysmal at drafting productive D-lineman……bit Beer Licht is great at drafting O-lineman.

  17. Shane Callahan Says:

Great news (except for Shaq)! Gonna be a tough game. Go Bucs!!!

  18. BillyBucco Says:

It’s not about Kancey being the “Savior “ IMO.
It’s about watching his college tape and even the 11 snaps.
That LATERAL quickness is ELITE, and I don’t need to watch him play to KNOW he has it. His technique is very sound and he KNOWS what he is going to do ore snap.
Also that lateral quickness is what gets the O Line off of their base and at a spot on the field they don’t wanna be, so gap integrity is spotted much easier for the LBs.
This is why White and David are so excited.
I’m ok with Kancey having a mediocre stat line, if White and David have 15 tackles, it’s still because of what Kancey, Vea and Hall are doing.
    Trench Warfare Baby.
    Let’s go OWN the Kitties.
Snap Back to Reality, Ohh there goes Gravity lmao.

Got some real airheads on here like TexasBuc. Suddenly it posts. DR, you don’t need to legitimize this yahoo. This one is gonna be a Cardiac Bucs game. If Shaq can’t play, so what? Let him get well. I still wish I could make it to this one, but nature dictates. I’ve been to plenty of these games in the past. Hope the weather cooperates. GO BUCS!!

  20. A Bucs Fan Says:

@TheBucAnthem – The draft is hard. 1st round doesn’t have a high success rate for DL. There’s a pretty good 25 year analysis out there on 1st round picks. It could be refreshed but it’s good data. DL are the second to last position group to likely to make a pro bowl just in front of WR. They are also the 3rd most likely to bust right behind 1st round RB and QB’s.

In total, they are the second riskiest position to draft behind RB over the past 25 years.

The safest positions are safety, CB, TE and OG.

Give Jason credit. He is doing his best. Where his drafts failed he signed guys like Shaq, Suh, Nacho, and traded for JPP who all contributed heavily to the Bucs SB run.

  21. Jack Clark Says:

Excited to see their QB run for his life and some decent run blocking

  22. ChiBuc Says:

“I’m with BucU & Texasbucsfan on this one.”

Boo. We’ve had little more than 6 months of anticipation and hype. Let’s enjoy the unwrapping and hope the gift is as good as the package. Eeyores be damned

  23. The Fighting Schianoes Says:

For once, the week 5 bye looks like it came at the right time. LFG!!!

  24. SB~LV Says:

    Great news!

  25. BucsFan81 Says:

Can’t wait I think we will win against the Lions. Time to really put it together and beat a good team.

  26. Kidfloflo Says:

They should have Palmer run a deep fly route bomb once a game early to loosen things up! Always a chance for a P.I. as well…havent done it one game so far which is inexcusable as far as I’m concerned! And maybe Shaq will have the famous Jordan type flu game…Go Bucs!!

  27. Defense Rules Says:

orlbucfan & ChiBuc … Media & fans have put unrealistic expectations on too many rookies over the years. Jameis as ‘the savior’ (came to us as a 20-year-old) comes to mind; so does Devin White for which ‘the savior’ moniker was also prevalent. Now with the buildup on Kancey, seems like folks are doing the same thing to him.

I’ll readily admit that there are a few rookies who excel from Day One. But relatively few. I look at what’s been written about JTS & Hall and far too many had them written off as busts before they even finished their rookie year. It’s unfair to them IMO, and it’s unfair to our coaching staff. Takes time & a lot of good coaching to develop most of these guys into top-performers.

  28. stpetebucfan Says:

I’m not concerned about Calijah’s stats. It’s his performance that counts and if he’s a true disrupter but someone else gets the tackles or sacks that’s fine too.

  29. geno711 Says:

To answer your question: He has done fine.

    Jason Licht draft on DL:

    2014 – No DL drafted.
    2015 – No DL drafted.
    2016 – Noah Spence – 2nd round bust.
    2017 – None drafted in 1st 6th rounds.
    2018 – Vita Vea – 1st round hit.
    2019 – Anthony Nelson – 4th round solid.
    2020 – None drafted in 1st 5 rounds – No Grade
2021 – JTS – In Bowles scheme is an OLB – not DL – seems JAG but no a DL
2022 – Logan Hall – 2nd round – seems fair value at this point.
    2023 – Calijah Kancey – 1st round – Incomplete.
2023 – YaYa Diaby – In Bowles scheme OLB – seems better than JAG at this point.

  30. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Geno..

Doesn’t look all that stellar to me.

  31. Glass Half Full Guy Says:

We coming out for this game healthy and the Lions will be missing their RB Gibbs, starting LG Jonah Jackson and rookie DB Branch.

Wish I could watch this one but according to the TV map I’m stuck with the Jets vs Eagles. A real exciting match-up to be sure.

Really kicking myself for not taking the $100 discount on NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTubeTV when I had the chance. Would have been worth it just to see the Creamsicles.

  32. Oneilbuc Says:

    Yes 💯💯💯

  33. MadMax Says:

Nice, lets hope they stay healthy the whole game and don’t re injure anything

  34. ChiBuc Says:

DR, I agree with you 💯 on your point re: unrealistic expectation put on these young men. It was truly sad seeing all of the vitriol posted on this site about Goedeke, McCullom, Hall, etc last season. Rookies! I get your point. I understand your realistic expectations. I’m not trying to annoint a savior, I’m just savoring the hope CK brings to the team (as stated by David, Bowles, Licht) and fans. It’s like when your kid is up in the spelling bee. We celebrate the moment, full of hope, willing success… I don’t sit there and think, ‘you know, the words get harder and failure to spell this word doesn’t diminish their abilities, they’ll learn from a mistake, blah, blah, blah. It’s xmas eve, I ain’t thinking about a practical itchy sweater from grandma. I’m thinking, Playstation!!! Why squash hope. Reality is inevitable. Fandom is little more than vicariously sharing in, hoping, and rooting for that player/team to achieve their dream.

  35. Bobby Says:

Can’t wait to see Kancey’s full go debut. Going to be fun!! I’m ordering my 94 jersey.

  36. Duane in Sanford Says:

Kancey doesnt have to be the savior. He just needs to show up and play his game. He adds yet another piece that Bowles can adjust his scheme with.

  37. garro Says:

    Good news!

Surpising straight answer from Bowles on injuries. That is a first.
Hope Shaq is 100%. Pass rush is likely to be key in this one.

    Go Bucs!

  38. Defense Rules Says:

ChiBu c … ‘Reality is inevitable.’

    Classic. True dat.

  39. Pewter Power Says:

YaYa you may be up Sunday. Can’t wait to see him in a full game and see what he’s got

  40. bucsfaninOregon Says:

I’m with JMark. That list of wiffs and none drafted shows Licht is no DL guru. The hype and hope surrounding JTS is just like I used to read about Noah Spence. What a total waste of a draft spot he was.

  41. Odessa Bebe Says:

It will be a game for half a quarter. After that the BUCS D will shut it all down. Mark my words not even close. Thank me later.

  42. No I in team Says:

Hope my teammates quit focusing so much on there work and get a football game on but wtfe I’ll listen to it on the radio lol
