More YaYa Diaby On The Way
October 6th, 2023It sounds like the Bucs are preparing to free YaYa Diaby.
No, the rookie third-round pick edge rusher hasn’t been buried on the bench. Diaby has played at least 20 snaps in each game this season (21 against the Saints), strong action for a rookie. But general manager Jason Licht told SiriusXM NFL Radio this week that Diaby had a special game against the Saints on Sunday, which should mean more Diaby on the field.
“He had kind of a breakout game for him, I think he’s just going to continue to trend up,” Licht said of Diaby.
Diaby is so raw and physical, with a level of fire Joe doesn’t see in Bucs edge rushers not named “Shaq.”
Against the Saints, Diaby recorded his first multi-tackle game and his first tackle for loss.
Joe sees Diaby as a great example of how good the Bucs can be later this season. He’s one of 13 rookies on the 53-man roster. That’s a ton of youth to be far mature players in December than they are in early October.
And the Bucs will be playing meaningful December games, barring a historic meltdown.

You may be right about him. In Licht we trust.
October 6th, 2023 at 12:58 pm
He is a dog he is physical and doesn’t try to run around guys def has a mean steak

I saw the same thing. Yaya had a couple of plays that really stood out. We heard how physically powerful he was in camp. It was apparent against the Saints. One play in particular, he clobbered his blocker and occupied a lot of space on his way to a TFL. Excited to see him play more.

Let’s go!
October 6th, 2023 at 1:07 pm
By mid season, I predict YaYa will start ahead of JTS.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:19 pm
will the real jts, please sit down!
this kid will end up taking his spot.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:19 pm
YES! He was outstanding against the run and setting the edge. He also is very good at creating pressure. He’s been close multiple times to sacking the QB and he moved Carr off his spot multiple times Sunday.
If he can develop one quality counter move this season to compliment his bull rush he could have a ton more success this season!
Can’t wait to see Shaq, Yaya, Vea, Kancey and Hall all on the field together. It’s going to create some real match up problems for opposing olines.

Bu bye JTS, it’s Ya Ya time
October 6th, 2023 at 1:20 pm
if they really had a love for this kid, i wish they would bring in JPP to guide and teach him. cant be much to sign JPP and it would be an investment. just a thought.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:21 pm
I know this is off topic but I love the defense when Ryan Neal is out…I just don’t think he fits with our style of play I wonder if we can trade him for cb for depth or a running back him and Edmonds are the odd guys out. Do a piece on that Joe I’d love to hear everyone’s take on Ryan Neal so far I think he’s trash tbh
October 6th, 2023 at 1:26 pm
They have a nice YouTube breakdown of diaby Nice stuff I see alot of shaqs bag in his game they are identical in play style upside diaby is faster and going to get better. He’s a smart edge rusher set the edge nice and he’s powerful he must workout with vea he manhandled the saints tackle
October 6th, 2023 at 1:27 pm
I like YA YA!!!
October 6th, 2023 at 1:28 pm
I would like to see Markees Watts more than Cam Gill or Yaya Diaby.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:28 pm
Kancey and Diaby sounds like a nightmare.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:28 pm
Idk about December, but this sure bodes well for next year.

I disagree, by Sunday 9/15/23 vs Lions, Ya Ya will officially be starting ahead of JTS, because for the past 3 yrs, JTS performance has proven to us who we say he is…“Just The Same”, underachiever.
October 6th, 2023 at 1:53 pm
Yaya>>>>JTS
Plus love saying Yaya! I just brings people joy. Dude is going to be EATING QBs at the end of the year with Kancey, Moana, and King Shaq. I’m here for it
October 6th, 2023 at 1:56 pm
Yeah, when you can put 320-330 pound OT’s on skates and knock them back, or run around them with 4.5 speed, you need to be on the field more.
October 6th, 2023 at 2:27 pm
Get Your YaYa’s Out ! Promote him ahead of JTS and let JTS sub for YaYa! I still like Nelly better than JTS.
October 6th, 2023 at 2:51 pm
Hey JTS….Sit yo lazy busy of an ass down. It’s YaYa time!
October 6th, 2023 at 2:57 pm
Licht let JPP walk hoping JTS was going to take another step. If YaYa is playing better than JTS it wouldn’t be fair to start him over YaYa. Once he gets some pash rush moves he’ll be dangerous
October 6th, 2023 at 3:09 pm
Great!
We need real depth at OLB!
We are 4 deep right now. And Gill is damn good too.
So 5 deep.
October 6th, 2023 at 3:23 pm
Why you trying to jinx us ?
October 6th, 2023 at 3:43 pm
Pound for pound….speed/strength combo……one of our top players.

Bucsalltheway … Haven’t really been focusing on Ryan Neal, but on relooking at his stats so far, I’m amazed. Played 100% of the def snaps in Games 1-3, then only got 2 snaps in Game 4 (got hurt?). Interestingly, in those 2 snaps he had 2 solo tackles (1 on the kickoff, and 1 on a completed pass play). Turns out that he’s had a lot of solo tackles thus far … 17 solo plus 10 assists.
Got me wondering if that’s good or bad. I’m leaning towards bad. Opposing QBs have targeted him 8 times so far … 8 completions. Resulted in 123 passing yards total (15.4 YPC average) and 2 TDs given up. That’s effectively in only 3 games.
Looks like Delaney replaced Neal in Game 4, and he had a fantastic game … 3 solo tackles (no assists), 6 targets but only 2 completions (33.3%) with 1 INT. I’m assuming Delaney played Nickel the whole time and Izien switched back to Strong Safety like the box score for the game shows, but maybe not. Strange that the game recap only credits Izien with 72% of the def snaps, while Delaney got 97%. Regardless of who played where when Neal went out, Delaney did a helluva job. So did Izien BTW.

Send Plan 9 in to orbit. Keep him there. He has always been a weak link.
October 6th, 2023 at 4:00 pm
I have noticed 91 Green, getting a ton of PT. hats his story Joe?
October 6th, 2023 at 4:26 pm
Looks like a stronger version of jpp….. nope not as good as jpp…..yet
October 6th, 2023 at 4:31 pm
Just my two cents on the secondary Neal has been bad in coverage so has Dean. The young ones are playing lights out. Keep Dee , Izien, and Mccolum on the field as much as possible.
October 6th, 2023 at 6:33 pm
He has looked very good in limited snaps. If he’s able to keep looking good with more snaps, and you get back Kancey, that’s quite the boost.

Yes, cut the guy who is tied for second on the Bucs in sacks and on pace for 8 sacks for the year! 🙄

I’m not down on JTS. He was super raw coming into the league. He was a proj. You never know how long it will take a player to develop. He missed his last year of college football cause of the sickness but he has all the abilities you want in a rusher. Only thing missing with JTS is YAYAs mentality. Dude just wants to run thru people and man handle them. JTS is more about finess than he is about power. Man if both of them could learn each others strengths they could be a dominant duo for a long time
October 6th, 2023 at 8:38 pm
Not even quarter season. Gota be up before you can melt down. One game over 500 isn’t exactly up
October 6th, 2023 at 8:42 pm
he was beasting out there last sunday…

Very excited to see more of him and Kancey as the season progresses. Hopefully JTS and Hall take the next step as well

The DL has the “potential” to be truly great. If Yaya continues his rapid learning curve, if Calijah gets healthy, if Shaq stays healthy, if Vea stays healthy, with depth players behind them it could get very exciting by playoff time.
Yeah I know there are a LOT of IFs! Nobody can truly predict what’s going to happen. But at least this team has potential and they are exciting to watch.
If games are won in the trenches, and IMHO they largely are won there, the DL is going to be great and the OL should grow into a talented unit as well. Wirfs is already great, Goeddeke is off to a great start and Mauch shows much potential as a raw meat rookie. Feiler is a solid player if not great and Hainsey is clearly a work in progress. His pass blocking is adequate, he and Mayfield seem very comfortable with the snap…which starts EVERY play and Hainsey is smart and calls out assignments. So the potential for 3/5th’s to be really good and the remaining two able to at least hold up their end of the deal.
October 6th, 2023 at 10:00 pm
You are describing a young JPP
Glad to see I am not the only one who thinks this would be a beautiful thing. Unfortunately, JPP won’t play here again. He made that clear when he called the Bucs “…his ho’…” with authority I might add.
But I honestly think Shaqzilla is better for him than JPP
October 7th, 2023 at 12:23 am
Diaby is in stark contrast to our JTS. He was really getting after it Sunday on the few plays I followed him. Power and athleticism were obvious. I did see JTS pushing some guys back to the QB though. Not just quitting after his initial move as I have seen in the past.
Go Bucs!
October 7th, 2023 at 1:20 am
Did jts play against the aints?
I never even noticed.
October 7th, 2023 at 4:52 am
After all the hype around Ryan Neal in the off-season he’s pretty much been a ghost from what I’m reading here. Dee Delaney has taken most of his reps in Saints game?
October 7th, 2023 at 8:31 am
JTS is inconsistent (he got his 2 sacks in one game this year), but I don’t think the Bucs should just cut him because Habitual Complainer Grover hates him.
October 7th, 2023 at 9:29 am
Third year and not much improvement. JTS is a bust. Being such a high round draft decision is the only thing keeping him getting many reps. Licht needs to accept reality and admit the mistake. Backup OK. Sarter NOT.
October 7th, 2023 at 2:16 pm
We don’t need no stinking stinka. We got ya ya!
October 7th, 2023 at 4:39 pm
I really, don’t believe that JTS even cares if he’s out there, at ALL. I’ve never seen a dumber ‘professional’ athlete before, who’s never used their head and adjusted/changed up approach/tactics, Etc. It’s really amazing, and if not for being a Bucs Fan, would be comical… Seriously, it’s like watching a cartoon LoL. Literally, almost EVERY play, you watch him go FLYING off the end and just totally disappears completely outta the screen (nowhere even close to the QB or even close to being a factor in the play) Lmao. When, he does get there, he either just totally ‘whiffs’ lol or doesn’t have the (upper body) strength to get heheh opposing QB to the ground. It’s INSANITY. He just carries on continuing to do the exact same thing, over and over, and again and again, time after freaking time now, for THREE YEARS!!!! It’s Unbelievable.
October 8th, 2023 at 8:13 am
JTS is the defensive twin of OJ Howard. Looks the part just doesn’t produce.
