Keeping The Slimy Saints Out Of The End Zone

October 1st, 2023

Surprised by the score.

Joe shocked Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett after the game.

Shaq was getting ready to leave the locker room and was wearing a sweet lid — a black velvet fedora — and he stopped and answered a few questions from Joe.

So Joe asked, “Were you content with keeping the Saints out of the end zone?” It then hit Shaq.

“I didn’t even realize that until you just said it,” Shaq said. “I knew they had nine points but I just didn’t realize they didn’t score a touchdown.”

Shaq laughed at the thought of him not doing the easy math.

“Just realizing that now, I knew we had to put it together [today] and perform,” Shaq said. “Last season we struggled, we couldn’t stop them for anything.”

One cool thing about this win was the Bucs did it on the road after a Monday night game. That had to be hard. Joe asked Shaq if he or the Bucs had any lingering effects from traveling on a short week.

“Aw, no,” Shaq said. That was likely because the Bucs had an easy week leading up to the slimy Saints game.

“I think it was good for us, take it a little bit slower,” Shaq said. “We were able to lock in mentally, focus immensely and get a lot of mental reps. I think that week was good for us.”

As for Derek Carr, who played despite an injured AC in his shoulder, well, Shaq said he didn’t see any difference in the veteran New Orleans quarterback.

“He looked like he played normal to me,” said Shaq, who faced Carr twice a year when Carr played for the Raiders and Shaq played for the Broncos. “If he wasn’t 100 percent, he was close enough not to make a difference.”

The Bucs D bent but didn’t break. That is how coaches coach that.

So it looks like the D will improve some more as the younger players stretch their legs.

Some memorable stands and some heroic plays. Good to hear Shaq as his thoughtful self.

“I didn’t even realize that until you just said it,” Shaq said

Ask him if he realized our pass rush is sweet as cake

  5. Proudbucsfan Says:

    I agree DS, Start YaYa

Carr wasn’t healthy according to a hometown Saints reporter who saw warmups.

Shaq’s comments make me wonder if the prep this week was different than the normal post-Monday night game? Maybe the different prep this week contributed to some better play?

Maybe Joe could check on this?

    Yaya>JTS

I don’t think anybody realizes just how good Kancey is and what a difference he will make on our D line. No more double teams on Vita the block Bita. If they do Kancey will have a field day. It’s gonna be fun to watch this pass rush after the bye.

Young players are coming around didn’t even miss Dean Z Mc is boss YaYa great draft pick Baker is panning out and what about those undrafted wide outs I never thought I would say this but Licht is doing a very good job. Hopefully Bowles won’t disappoint.

DS,Proudbucsfan,Cchead, Irishmist, DBS,n yes me, dmatt says enough of JTS so puff, be gone. He’s garbage, weak, lack of field awareness, etc. Ya Ya brought to the Bucs what we’ve been missing in JTS since drafted, aggressiveness, hustle, strength, field awareness, tenacity, n true grit. All agree, say I.
