Joe is fired up! The Bucs are undefeated and looking good!
Tom Brady who? Tampa Bay just marched into the Vikings’ dome and were the more physical team and proved they’re a damn tough club.
How about Todd “Big Balls” Bowles going for it on 4th and 1 deep in his own territory in the fourth quarter.
And “Big Balls” Bowles dialed up a 57 yard field goal soon after rather than relying on his defense that struggled a bit but made big plays all day.
After the Bucs offense struggled mightily in the first half, the offense opened up and settled down once it added tempo and started feeding Mike Evans just before halftime. Baker Mayfield picked up confidence and showed his grit (sorry, Joe hates “moxie”) making good decisions and throws and gutsy scrambles.
How bout that huge catch by Chris Godwin to seal the game!
So many heroes on defense. Devin White played a hell of a game, so did Antoine Winfield, Jr. Rookie Christian Izien had a monster interception. Anthony Nelson had a huge series late and a sack earlier.
This win feels so damn good.

This was a very well coached team on both sides of the ball. I have been 1 of the very few supporters of Todd Bowles on this site. Well, all you crybabies can’t shutup now because Coach Bowles coached one hell of a game. Canales man, in game adjustments, half time adjustments, he is the real deal and Mayfiled is looking like this years comeback player of the year. Go Bucs!!

Good job, Baker. Way to hang tough through some drops, off throws, and guys in your face. But did what Canales and Bowles told him. Kept the ball safe, made the difference on a few plays, but otherwise just used his checkdowns and didn’t try to do too much.
Bowles Defense was as adverised, bend don’t break, three takeaways. Vikings crowd was in it, they really made it tough, but 1-0 Buccs. Fire the Cannons, baby!

What I noticed is that this team came back from the half with some massive adjustments on both sides of the ball. Its just one game, but this is what I was expecting to see last season. Great game.

Todd Bowles is now out of the shadow of BA. WELL DONE ! I had my doubts but now feel much differently. I doubted his leadership ability but that has changed. Canales DID NOT COLLAPSE under great pressure. To my great relief this team shows great talent, great coaching and great potential. Perhaps the Glazers’ and Jason Licht will prove me wrong. I certainly hope so. This win was so incredibly important. Everyone knew it and rose to the occasion. CONGRATULATIONS TAMPA BAY BUCS !!!

Personally, I think Mayfield was the worst QB on the field…but he pulled out a win by the skin of his teeth.

Licht got us a kicker. Bowles got us an offensive coordinator. Baker showed he can’t be ruffled. That straight arm was classic. He reminds me of the old Bobby Lane. Tough as nails. This is a road win in conference. Vita Vea was phenomenal. Offensive line was horrible in the first half, but improved as the game went on. Very few penalties is the mark of a good team. That interference call in the end zone was ridiculous.

Mayfield played a nice half of football – and was God awful in the other half. But hey, they got the win.
Also the Bucs NEVER lose at home to Chicago, and I’m standing by the Bucs beating the Eagles at home, it’s just another thing the Bucs always seem to do.
However… I’ve also compared this team to the Ray Perkins Bucs teams for a long time, and those teams always seemingly got off to hot starts, then would go on a long losing streak.
I still think that’s the most likely outcome, but I’d love to be wrong.

Seriously, people…if you think this is indicative of the rest of the season…I feel for you, lol.
Still, the game was interesting enough to keep me glued to the television through the entire thing, and that was more than I expected.
Those saying Mayfield did all that was expected…going 3-11 on passing early on was not a good thing. The tipped passes…ugh.
Hurry-up helped him a lot, but they cannot do that all the time.
The offensive line gradually improved though…props for that.

Canales did well for his first game too. The Bowles plan worked and Plan 9 reeneter to get a turnover. A 57 yard FG and Big turnovers rookies came up big. It was fun to hear on radio. All in all a great start for 2023.

A couple of big drops hurt bakers numbers in the first half. 1 for a first down when the TE couldn’t hang on. 2 by Evans…one would have been a td. There is no quit in baker. I think everyone in the lockeroom knows it now!

Looks like the Bucs found a QB. A young one[as in #1] in his prime. You could tell Baker was a little juiced up early on by the speed of his throws ,too hard slightly over etc. In the middle of the 2nd quarter he wa sitting alone on the sideline and his teammate were wondering did they figure him wrong? But them Mavrick reengaged. Splash one touch! Splash 2 touches took control of the second half and never looked back. This wa a very important game for Baker. Like i said before Baker i going to be TB’s Mavrick Top Gun this year and one of the greatest NFL storys. You know the All American Hollywood clasic where tha down but not out hero gets one more chance and uses it to fulfil his DESTINY1 And he did it with helpo from his friends who he won over during the long hot grueling off season where he had to earn everything the hard way,

I’m surprised the Trask fans aren’t saying we shouldn’t have traded Winston. I like Trask too but he lacks the intangibles Baker has. He’s slower and less mobile and with the heat the Vikings were bringing Kyle would have gotten sacked where Baker escaped and that’s just a fact.

Every nfl commentator and prognosticator said the Bucs would lose- I knew they’d win. Great complimentary football for a W on the road that was actually more comfortable than the score indicated and if not for a few terrible calls by the refs the score would have been lopsided. Great job week one! Now cut out all the first half offensive mistakes and this team will have an amazing season for certain.

Too early to say if Baker is the answer.
He played like I expected early in the game, but kept away from interceptions. I will salute him for the way he got it together for the final drive of the first half and kept it up.

4th down punting game was truly Outstanding. Special Teams play was a notch above what I have seen us play in the past. I was shocked at how they have improved. And our Defense was hitting hard..real hard. Baker played unafraid and with Moxy. Good win. On to game 2.

While Baker Mayfield didn’t generate impressive stats, I love that between him and Canales made great adjustments starting late in the 2nd quarter, and finished strong with a great run and a great pass to Godwin to seal the win.
Really impressed with the young 1st and 2nd year players who made big plays on offense and defense. Loved our pass rush, and our two linebackers – they played a superb game.
Hats off to Todd Bowles making gutsy calls and a timely time out, Dave Canales for his in game adjustments, and special teams play that was simply special.
It was clearly a team win … everybody contributed!

Hey look every body I still think Kyle Trask should be the starter . I believe that touchdown throw Baker Mayfield missed to Keif would have been a touchdown if Trask would have thrown it . But look we won and Baker Mayfield played good enough to help the team win that’s all that matters at this point. Track fan, yes 245-300 yards passing a game is enough if the defense gets 3 turnovers. Cousins had nearly 350 and lost. Baker is throwing it not catching it. Another 100 yards were dropped. That’s football. Take what the opposing defense gives you. O-line play improvement was directly responsible for improvement in Baker’s play. Each game will be different. You only win the one you are playing. One game at a time is not a cliche. It’s a fact.

Keep in mind also that Minnesota had the 28th ranked defense last year and they lost impact players.
Not sustainable week over week.
I will say this though – there was a lot more starch in the defense than we saw last year. I think it’s clear they were cadillacking last year thinking they had Brady they just show up and win. They got called out on it this off-season (rightly) and they came out and played with attitude – White in particular.
What they have going for them is the online played cleaner – fewer penalties. The RB White is a pretender. Dances in the hole too much. Tucker is the best back on the team.
We saw 1.5 qtrs of the bad Mayfield and 2.5 qtrs of the good Mayfield. The good Mayfield is accurate short passing guy who plays with passion. 5.1 yards per completion won’t be enough unless you dominate the turnover battle like they did today.
Good news the Chicago team I’m seeing right now is terrible. 2-0 is possible if not likely.
The bad news is after that it gets rough.

The defense won the game as well as turn overs by Cousin.
The toilet Bowl gambled twice and won the game that he could have easily lost.
However he still won by three points with an inconsistent qb. Baker who missed wide open TE in the end zone. Today was a reason three teams passed on Baker . Up and down Baker .

One victory does not a champion make. But they are headed in the right direction. Yeah Baker was alittle keyed up in the first half. Why wouldn’t he be? Virtually the entire football world has been bashing and slandering and putting him down mocking him. He had to suck up and bear all that directed Maloccio and still manage to believe in himself as well as weather that ferocious viking rush and deafening crowd. But he did and he turned to tables by demonstrating what is known as “Grace under pressure!” That is what champions do. Baker the indicative of a champion !!!!!!!!! LOL. Bucs should have easily won this game with higher margin with three turnovers created by their defense. It took Toilet Bowl going for a 4th and one in his own side of the field and an almost 60 yard FG to win the game. Why ? Due to a journey man qb.
95% out of times these gambles do not pay off and you lose. Today Baker’s stats was Baker’s best stats minus the interceptions in his career.
Viking’s defense was bad against the rush last season and not very good again the pass plays without their elite players. Bucs will not defeat many teams this season with such an average offensive stats.

Your win with a higher margin, because of turnovers sounds like a pretty sound theory. I guess no one told the Bengals. They had zero turnovers today and their defense created two. But the Bengals didn’t win by a “higher margin” than The Bucs. Matter of fact the Bengals, with their 2-0 take away ratio, still lost 24-3. I just love how you cats pull things out of the ether and act like it’s some kind of fact, because you said so. I have spoken, so shall it be. 😂

Congrats Bucs . Better fix that O-line . Get an O-line together and this team will win 10 games IF they stay healthy and continue with that much effort. This team has been pissed and rightly so because everybody kept saying Tom Brady won the Superbowl . If I remember right Winston threw for over 5000 yards the year before Brady got here . Tom could have gone to a number of different teams but he chose the Bucs for a reason . He knew the Bucs had a good team . Last I checked football is a team sport and the Tampa Bay Bucs reminded everybody of that today .

David, did you not see the 2 tall d-lineman charging with hands up only 2 1/2 yards away is how the overthrow in the end zone happened? Looks to me like the tight end pulled up then tried to run again. Baker threw where he was going. That said, the better choice might have been the back in the flat.

Bucs got fcked on schedule. Got Bills, 49ers and Eagles, all potential SB teams.
Why doe’s no one else in the division have anything close to this schedule.
