First Bucs Depth Chart Of 2023 Released
September 5th, 2023Ah, that scent Joe smells is the thick odor of a sweaty football locker room.
Joe’s nostrils are full of that stench thanks to the very first 2023 Bucs depth chart released for the regular season, the Week 1 depth chart.
No huge surprises but one really sticks out on defense.
Calijah Kancey is listed as a starter. His status for Week 1 is up in the air and it seems to be a stretch to think he plays. His backup, however, is Mike Greene, who last year was a practice squad guy. Greene has yet to take a snap in a regular season game.
Also on defense, Logan Hall is expected to be with the first-team defensive line over veteran Will Gholston.
On offense, if the Bucs are in a two-tight end set, Ko Kieft is listed with the first team as is fellow tight end Cade Otton.
And for the roster junkies (Joe knows there are a few out there) rookie Sean Tucker is listed as RB2.

Let’s go Sean Tucker!!!
One game at a time.
New season, younger faster players and a togetherness we lacked with Brady.
This team is gonna play hard.
Lots of guys with tons to prove.
Shock the World baby.

Are they still listing Calijah Kancey as the starter because they expect him to play?
I mean wouldn’t we hear he is practicing?

Toe meeting leather is right around the corner, baby 🙂

Sean Tucker RB2…
Good move.
The kid has the goods.

Let’s hope and pray the theory on limiting injuries plays out well
This roster is paper thin at multiple positions

The Kancey situation has been a source of frustration… I hope when he plays he is able to ball out but I don’t believe he should be handed the starting job just because we was pick #19.
Nor do I believe it is a wise move to rush a player’s rehab of a serious calf injury.
Mike Greene looked solid this preseason and earns a chance to start week 1.

I know some are frustrated with kancey and I will get ridiculed for this but I’m still a fan of GMC. He was hurt his 1st to seasons. Tore both biceps back to back and still went on to have a good career on a very very bad defense. Kancey will come back maybe not be a huge impact player this year but in years to come. Injuries happen.

Joe, no update on the practice squad, any changes? It’s week one, stop being lazy…haha

Talk about a youth movement – that’s 25% of the roster being rookies! Hope they “age” quickly.

I guess the injury report comes out tomorrow. That might give us a hint as to wether Kansey might play.

Just picked up Tucker for my fantasy bench this is good news to me.

They’re listing Kancey as a starter likely, in part, because he has yet to be ruled out. It’s Tuesday. First injury report comes out Wednesday late afternoon.

What did Ronnie Brown do behind the scenes to not get on the practice squad, while that scrub Liard made it? Really puzzling. Literally the only RB in the entire preseason for the Bucs that showed any sort of pop was Brown – albeit late in the games. Normally when a guy does that, he gets more carries earlier to see what he can do – and the Bucs didn’t do that. That normally means they’re hiding the guy to put them on the PS, yet that didn’t happen either. I’ve watched football for long enough to know talent on the field, but what I don’t know is behind the scenes, and for him not to even get the PS invite, something must have happened.

SO CRAZY!!!
Compare this roster to last year’s. Practically a whole new offense and a whole new team. It’s the next arc of Bucs football. I’m pumped.

5 Days and counting! Enough said!!!
September 5th, 2023 at 7:16 pm
I’m only surprised that they only kept 5 WRs… and didn’t even put Warner on the practice squad.
But I’m sure Bowles knows more than me… maybe…
September 5th, 2023 at 8:38 pm
unbelievable – Warner runs a 4.7+ and didn’t do anything in the preseason at all. No idea why he’d make anything other than the Publix bagboy of the month, like his dad.

About what was expected. Hope Licht is scouring the waiver wires for a backup center though. Both Stinnie and Leverett looked lost in preseason.
Go Bucs!
