Difficult position for our Defensive head coach, offense is ultimately his responsibility but poor performance will reflect more on Canales and our GOAT GM
There’s just something about him that’s off as a head coach. Sure it seems like the players like him as a person but he doesn’t seem to have the same “it factor” as other successful head coaches
For instance he’s not naming captains yet this year?? Playing coy on naming a starting QB, then like 3 days later saying ok mayfield is the starter (which everyone knew). He does some head scratching stuff and his track record doesn’t give him the leash to be able to absorb this stuff.
I voted “little confidence”, but a more appropriate phrase would be “some confidence”. I believe Bowles will field a good defense this year and have them play with swagger again. The overall team performance though would be dictated by a well functioning offense working in tandem with our defense. With the O-line the way it is, Bowles need to be exceptional at game management and get the STs to play at a high level. I don’t think that will likely happen.

Really hoping he can win us all over this year. If he can put forth a top 5 defense and give Canales a little more free reign when it comes to more aggressive play-to-win decision making vs playing scared then that’ll go a long way for me
He gets Brady and then goes 8-9 and gets embarrassing in the playoffs. If he didn’t like the way the offense was being run well he’s the coach and had other play callers. I just want an offensive coach
I pretty much agree with you. I voted confident just to try to be optimistic for a change from Bowles this year, but honestly, his stripes will not likely change.
Legit question – not a statement – but why would anybody be confident in Bowles at this point?
I can understand all the other options, but what has Bowles done that would make you confident in him? I’m not asking that in an attacking way, I’m genuinely curious on what the answer might be, assuming it’s not just stuff like, ‘our record is 0-0’ or ‘anything can happen’, I hope there’s more to it than that.

I’ve had little confidence in Todd Bowles since Week 4 of last season. He will not be the Bucs coach next season.

No confidence. 4 years as HC of the Jets and last year with Brady and having a good defense….. he is not a HC material.

He didn’t have a winning season with the Best QB in the league and say what you want many Teams would have taken Brady this year,,,

After the debacle of a season last year to the questions at Oline and QB, we’ll see. His in-game decisions leave a lot to be desired as well.

Like many things, I’ll believe in him when I see it.
I haven’t got any confidence in him, his resume is driving the Jets into the ground. He got to the Stupor Bowl and won, but not because he was HC.
Last season I watched him screw the pooch on numerous occasions, so he has to prove he understands football to me, I doubt he can.

Confident that the defense will play decent, yes.
Confident that the defense will play the corners mostly in zone and let teams move up and down the field with quick short passes, YES!!!!
Confident that the defense will give up multiple 3rd and long conversions, HECK YES!!!!!!
