Vikings-Bucs Betting Line Shifts
September 2nd, 2023Betting the Bucs is a fun exercise, and extra intriguing this season with the Bucs being profound underdogs in the eyes of the oddsmakers and the bettors.
However, Joe has detected a shift.
Quietly, the Bucs-Vikings game line has moved from Tampa Bay getting 6 1/2 points to now getting 6 in their home opener in Minnesota. Joe’s odds here are specifially from the Draft Kings sportsbook, though Joe sees it elsewhere. Months ago, Joe bet the Bucs +7, or getting 7 points.
For the non-bettor, that means money is being dumped on Tampa Bay, so now they’re getting fewer points to entice bets on Minnesota.
Joe suspects the line will move a bit more in the same direction, though not much more. Why? Because the Vikings are perceived to be much better at two key positions when it comes to wagering: quarterback and head coach.
Still, Joe is encouraged that fans seem to be waking up to the Bucs despite a barrage of negative national media. Four big names endorsing Baker Mayfield likely helped.
One Bucs line in the sportsbooks that rankles Joe is a prop bet called “last winless team.”
Yes, you can bet on what 2023 NFL club will be the last to get its first victory. Sadly, when it comes to that wager, the Bucs are the second favorite on the board after the Cardinals. The oddsmakers say the Titans and Texans are in the same boat as Tampa Bay, with the Rams behind them.
Another bet that caught Joe’s eye is Most Regular Season Rushing Yards. The oddsmakers appear to have ranked Bucs starter Rachaad White in a tie as the NFL’s 25th-best productive rusher, along with James Conner, Alvin Kamara and Cam Akers.
No, Joe is not taking the +4500 odds and betting on White to lead the league in rushing.

As Minnesota was involved in so many close games last year it seems like even Bucs getting 6 would be a good bet. Vikings won 11 by one score.
Last time I heard 91% of the Money is on the under when betting games Bucs will win this year. Anything that they can do to make the Bucs appear better than they might me could help to offset that also.
Skip and his pals sounded more like an advertisement than a round table discussion. Good thing Sharpe was not on the panel. Vegas could not give him enough Comps to praise Baker the ways those guys were ogling.

The sharps are all over the Buccaneers. Ten of the Vikings wins were by one score or less Good play.

For those odds I would put $10 on White to win the rushing title. Not $100 though…. LOL
Thats certainly a better bet than Mayfield leading the league in yards or TDs…..
Interceptions? sure. Batted down passes? – sign me up if there’s any kind of odds on that one….

Haven’t seen -6.5 since like Aug.20. Still all over Bucs. That’s what the Vikings do, they play close games. The offense comes out fast and they get up then do to sleep, or they come out slow are getting murdered and turn on the heat to catch up. Vikings giving up 6 is a joke. Bucs D is better than theirs. Evans and Godwin coming at them. If the Bucs lose by more than a TD in Minny, my hopes for the season will be crippled.

LOL Vikings are favored only by 6 now?
Oh boy!

With six outside linebackers we should probably dress 5 and keep a nice deep rotation. I sure hope Kancey can play. A nice long bomb off okay action to Evans we could be a nice opening play.
September 3rd, 2023 at 3:35 am
Play action.
September 3rd, 2023 at 7:28 am
Quite possibly due to Evans not playing??? After all, that will eliminate at least 1 offensive pass interference and the new guys will actually finish ALL of their routes. Furthermore, Father Time is knocking on his hamstring door.

Joe gets a free point.

If we are to win this game, we will have to account for TJ Hockenson their Pro Bowl Tight End.

Wow, a Mike Evans hater. Don’t see many of those Fishhawk.

Vikings 37 Bucs 13

Throwback, but if we still had Rojo right now, I would bet did him to lead the league in rushing. But wouldn’t bet on R White to ever do that.

*on him

Keep in mind. BAKER has a history of playing pretty well in domes when not-injured or handcuffed by a mentally retarded coach. THIS is an easy week to make Baker Bucks- er…… or is that Baker Buc-Cash !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 3rd, 2023 at 10:34 am
Eric–In your dreams and maybe Rojo’s, too that he leads any league in rushing. That’s why he is not here.
I’m sure there are RB’s that do nothing for 2-3 years then turn on, however, they are far outnumbered by those that burst into the league straight-away. ROJO’s in the third category – -they never turn on.

Buccaneers 27 Viqueens 17

Erik, You’d bet on RoJo to lead the league in rushing? That’s brilliant. He’s currently suspended so I’m sure vegas will take your money.
September 3rd, 2023 at 2:45 pm
Yes it’s the first game but it’s a lot deeper than just a win or a loss. Week 1 will be the deciding factor between an empty stadium and a full one. If we lose to the Vikings who have an absolute horrendous defense, that will pretty much prove all the naysayers correct
September 3rd, 2023 at 6:28 pm
Bucs will win 24-21. No more leaving points out there with missed FGs. Defense has to get the last stop. As far as betting I’d take bucs to win division odds and make playoff odds
