Aaron Rodgers Talks To Bucs
August 28th, 2023Legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers had plenty to say on the field with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 12 days ago.
The Jets had him mic’d up and Joe broke down the film searching for any Bucs nuggets.
Rodgers came to say hello and embrace Todd Bowles, who offered congratulations. Bowles then oddly said, “Hey, if you need anything, give me a shout.” Joe wonders if Rodgers has called Bowles previously for his take on an opponent.
Rodgers is then heard, apparently randomly saying, “Carlton Davis, good player.”
Shaq Barrett finds Rodgers playfully in his face saying, “No pass rush [today]; get outta here.” Later, Rodgers approaches a Bucs defensive huddle and heads for Shaq, and tells Bucs,” No hard count today, all on “1.” … I’ll “make it easy.”
Rodgers later does a hard count in 11-on-11 and trash talks Vita Vea before the actual snap.
Bucs safety Ryan Neal and Rodgers seem to know each other.
Rodgers asks Baker Mayfield after a hug, “Things going all right?” Mayfield replied “Going good.” Rodgers later asks Mayfield about a body of water in Texas and where he’s living. Mic’d up team bleeps out Mayfield’s comments on his home.
Tom Moore to Rodgers, “You’re almost as old as me but you’ll never catch me.” Rodgers asks Moore if he still loves his job and they both talk of enjoying the game.
To Chris Godwin, “What’s up stud?”
Bucs right tackle Luke Goedeke has a conversation with Rodgers about heat during practices in Tampa. Rodgers asked Goedeke what’s the most weight he’s lost in a practice. Goedeke replies 12 pounds.
Rodgers seeks out Antoine Winfield, Jr. and walks toward him, “Hey Win.”
In game action, Logan Hall beats a Jets double team but sort of spins himself out of a direct line to Rodgers, who eventually is chased out of bounds by Hall. Rodgers then playfully teases Hall after the play.
In another scene, Rodgers claps Logan Hall in the chest after a play awfully hard. Joe realizes many Bucs fans will be surprised to hear of Hall near the quarterback.
While calling signals at the line of scrimmage, Rodgers barks to Bucs safety Nolan Turner who was showing blitz, “You’re not coming. Back up.'” The ball snaps and Nolan retreats.

I feel like he should’ve been a buccaneer. I think he would’ve fit in great down here.

I watched that last night for the sole purpose of seeing the Bucs. We’ve got a lot of fight in us… this is no losing team.

Sounds great. Will there be a link?

This reminds me of something. Most of these guys like each other and get along well. Those commenters who whine “he helps the other guy up after the play” don’t get it. NFL players are in a fraternity in which you will never participate. Ordinary people can only watch and maybe, if you’re lucky, get an autograph or shake their hand. The older I get the more at ease I am with helping the other guy up. If it was good enough for Lee Roy Selmon, then it’s good enough for you.

I couldn’t agree more. It would have been so fun for the entire NFL to go from TB12 to Rodgers. The ongoing banter between those two would have been amazing.

Wasn’t one of Hall’s sacks last year on A. Rod? Seems like he’s a magnet toward A. Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers talked Kyle Trask too. When Trask threw that 41-yard dime to Rakim Jarrett beween two defenders in the Jets game, Rodgers was in the booth and was caught on mic interrupting his commentary and saying “Oh, my God!”

Love it, Great job Joe

That’s pretty funny stuff – Thanks Joe’s!

I have been saying….. too many talented, focused vets that know how to win on this team. They won’t be the train wreck the national media thinks they will be.
August 28th, 2023 at 1:30 pm
The media hates Rodgers almost as much as Baker, but if the Bucs could have pulled off that trade the team would be thought of as Super Bowl contenders again.
As it stands, they should win the division. Baker and Derek Carr seem to be at about the same level. They are second or third tier types until they win some playoff games and get to a conference championship or beyond. I can’t see putting Ridder or Bryce Young in that category, yet.

The Nolan Turner thing was great
August 28th, 2023 at 1:36 pm
Yeah Rodgers would’ve put us in contention but we have no mo money. Maybe if things don’t work out at QB this year we can find a way to get Stafford next season?
With that said, Baker looks like a fit with the type of offense Canales runs, so this team may shock a lot of the so called experts. Sports center has us finishing last in the NFC South, so maybe they haven’t seen Baker in the preseason.

frozenbuc – wow, imagine if aaron rodgers said that about a baker pass, lol, joe would write 10 articles about it, lol lol
August 28th, 2023 at 3:07 pm
Fun article Joe, thanks for posting as I’ll never actually watch this.
Someone should have asked Rodgers what it was like to lose all those big games, pointed out that he only has his SB ring because the Bucs got screwed in that home game vs Detroit in 2010, if they didn’t, the Packers never make the playoffs, and Rodgers is the ultimate all-time big-game choker.

Money wouldn’t have been an issue, he’d just sign a deal like he did with the Jets. He signed a 3-year $113-million extension – and his cap hit is $8m this year, only $17m next year, and only $23m the year after that.
I said all along give the Packers our 1st and get him – but people are losers, they don’t want to win, they want Baker and a 5-12 record.
With that said, why trade for Rodgers if Bowles is the head coach. He just ruined the last year of Brady’s career, giving him his first loses to the Falcons and Cowboys, his first losing season, and Rodgers is no Brady.

Was a great episode. Palmer burns Sauce, Mike Evans calls Quinen Williams fat, and 4 fights proceed to break out. It was. Joe loves Hard Knocks, though this was not from Hard Knocks.–Joe

Now that is some interesting stuff Joe!
Good Job!
Go Bucs!
August 29th, 2023 at 8:27 am
Hey now BuffaloBill, Have you been out drinking with Calamity Jane again? Joe only writes what Joe finds interesting, and if that is a 10 article run of the same old same old, who again here would not read it and then comment about it, and sign their mark. X
Count me as a BIG NO on ever signing Rodgers. When you put your$elf above the team, that sure rubs me the wrong way. Sure get paid, 150 million, 250 million… Why not just give these QBs all of the salary cap money available, and then let the fans hear them whine and cry about how badly they are being treated playing for their X-Y-Z team? With the lack of “talent” around them. And there will still be GMs and Owners who will want to trade for or sign them to a new contract on their teams. Because they are Great QBs. But you can not pay them all the cash in the cookie jar.
Good Luck Mr. Rodgers in the Big Apple! That media isn’t like the Green Bay media. Cheers!
GO!!!!!BUCS!!!!!

I plan to heavily invest on Bucs players opening week in DFS. its perfect… NO ONE is talking Bucs, I MEAN NO ONE in the fantasy community. Baker Mayfield is available in bestball drafts at the very end! This is when you hammer them and take home the gold. Last time? When Fitz started for Bucs. I was going to hammer Fitz, and Evans and offense, but I chickened out. I’ll never forget that, and this year, its all back again. Make some money y’all

Todd Bowles probably still has ties to the owners/management of the Jets, that’s the only thing that makes sense.
