“Big Play” Trey Palmer Continues To Show Up

August 24th, 2023

Rookie receiver Trey Palmer.

All this guy is doing is making plays.

“Big Play Trey” Palmer, the rookie wide receiver, so far in his very brief Bucs career seems to make a play whenever he faces someone in a different color jersey.

In the first worthless preseason game, Big Play Trey made an incredible catch in the back of the end zone for a touchdown against the Steelers and an even better job of getting his feet down inbounds.

Then in a scrimmage against the Jets in New Jersey, Big Play Trey roasted Jets star corner Sauce Gardner. He told Joe he didn’t know anything about Gardner.

Love the ‘tude!

Then, in the second worthless preseason game against the Jets, Palmer caught a bomb from Kyle Trask, tipping the ball to himself for a touchdown.

All Big Play Trey does is make plays!

Yesterday at One Buc Palace, Palmer explained he’s not worried about who he is facing. He is worried about producing and if he does his job, that’s all that matters.

“It means I don’t care who you [are], what your name is,” Palmer said of his mantra “No name; no face.”

“We’re all just playing ball at the end of the day and I’m just making a play and competing.”

Joe loves the mindset. Don’t worry about the guy on the other side of the line of scrimmage. You know, you do you. Worry about your job and execute your task.

Good things happen to folks who worry about getting the job done, not concerning themselves with nonsense.

Hope it continues but there is a reason he was not a top 2 round draft pick

  2. WiscoJoe Says:

The guy played at LSU before Nebraska. He had to have learned something behind Jefferson and Chase, right? Definitely could be the steal of the draft.

  3. Jack Clark Says:

The only thing holding Trey Palmer back is Baker Mayfield’s sorry as

  4. Red Skeleton Says:

He played WR for a running program. His talent wasn’t totally used at Nebraska. We may have found a hidden gem. I hope he continues to shine and be a solid2 or 3 receiver. I consider Godwin a 1B and Evans a 1A.

  5. Bucs since 76 Says:

He was projected to go to Denver in the 3rd round. The Bucs stole him in the 6th round. However, he’s not that good all he does is catch touchdowns like Chris Carter.

  6. Boss Says:

    love the attitude…

We are thin at WR. CG or ME go down and we have a bunch of no names.

problem I fear is this offense will not pass enough to get anyone into a rythm. we’ll see, hope I am wrong.

  7. 1#bucsfan Says:

Big play Trey and ball hawk Dennis both steals of the draft. They should develop into future starters for us. LVD isn’t getting any younger and hopefully he’s teaching Dennis everything he knows and ME13 n CG14 are doing the same with the other guys

  8. Bojim Says:

Maybe he will turn into our Cheetah.

  9. Who Says Says Can't Say Says:

99% of wide receivers asked that question would say they don’t care whom they play. Saying that doesn’t make him special.

But so far his play is notable. Let’s circle back mid-season and see how he’s done against first-stringers playing for something. Then we can anoint him.

And there was a reason Brady was drafted in round 6 as well… and Adalius Thomas and Antonio and Terrell Davis and others. What round was Palmer drafted in? Round 6… does that mean he’ll be a success? No, but it means he is in the league and whatever he does moving forward will have nothing to do with where he was drafted. Shaq Barrett, Demar Dotson, Shelton Quarles, Ryan Nece, Cameron Brate, Adam Humphries and many more former Bucs did okay despite not being drafted at all. Once you’re in the league, all you are is what you put on the field… and Trey puts 4.33 speed, a 6′ 190 lb frame, and some fairly decent hands on the field. The rest remains to be written but where he was drafted no longer matters. Christian Izien and Sean Tucker may end up being special players for us. They have the tools and ability, now they just have to make playsy. Doesn’t matter how you got into the league, what matters it that you’re in it.

Ryan Jensen… 6th round pick too.

Joe posted a video some days ago of a 1-handed catch made by Palmer which not many WR’s are capable of making.

I would bet by the end of this season 31 GM’s will be regretting not drafting this guy.

  13. Wild Bill Says:

Assuming they make the final cuts, the Bucs have some very interesting young blood at receiver and running back positions. Bucs have been lacking speed at those positions. With final cuts coming soon there should be some exciting upgrades.

  14. Steven007 Says:

I don’t know. Joe, he made a couple of plays in worthless games, what’s that worth really? /s

  15. Mike Johnson Says:

Luv the name. Big play Trey.

  16. No Mercy Says:

Just noticed he had a joker tattoo on his arm. I’m sold. This guy is a menace and not knowing who Sauce Gardner is…. and catching a touchdown over him… lmao

  17. Danny Husak Says:

Just like to give you all something to think about. In domes. Baler Beat Detroit, Atlanta twice, Indy, and the Vikings. This is preseason and regular. (With Cleveland). He lost once.

The Vikings game should be an easy win for The Bake. I won’t get too giddy over a sure Game 1 win. But, I WILL Be saving my pennies and bettin on my boy. He’ll be gettin points he really won’t need !!!!!!!!!!

Former Brown’s fan. Will Be a fan again when Watson and Stefanski are gone.

  18. Destinjohnny Says:

    Hold the phone
Have we hit on a draft pick???
We average one every 3 years
    This is news

  19. William Walls Says:

You know who else wasn’t drafted in the top 2 rounds, Dusththty? Ronde Barber, he of the shiny new HoF jacket.

  20. Fred McNeil Says:

So far so good. A little hope is a great thing to have when it appears justified. Palmer seems to do just that.

  21. Dave Pear Says:

Not studying and knowing your opponent while simultaneously sounding like a punk is pretty stupid. He’s gonna get smoked down to a cigar butt by somebody, real soon.

Has potential, needs to learn from Chris and Mike – not just about moves but also about doing what is known as STFU.
