Greg Cosell Has Faith In Rachaad White
July 21st, 2023A well-respected X’s and O’s guy is not ready to throw in the towel on Rachaad White as a valuable rusher.
White showed promise as a rookie receiver out of the backfield. As a running back, aside from one excellent game, White looked unready for prime time.
White’s advanced running stats are shockingly bad. But well-respected NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell hasn’t given up on the Arizona State product.
Cosell appeared recently on the “Ross Tucker Football Podcast” to explain to the world he still has faith in White developing as an all-round running back.
“I like Rachaad White a lot coming in out of Arizona State,” Cosell said in breaking down the Bucs’ offense. “I think he has what it takes — I don’t want to say a foundation back — but a No. 1 back. There is a difference there.”
The lone game where White looked like a stud carrying the ball came against Seattle in Munich. Damn, it was beautiful to watch in person. White again will get the chance to be the Bucs’ No. 1 back Cosell believes he can be. Playoff Lenny wanted out and the front office didn’t add any backs in a running-back-rich draft. That’s a whole lotta faith that White will be The Guy.
Joe sure hopes new Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales studied the tape of White’s sensational game against Seattle — hell, Canales saw it for himself while on the Seahawks’ staff — and decides to repeat exactly what worked for White that day.
Joe isn’t sure Canales’ predecessor had enough common sense to do that.

When D line is in the back field and no one is getting to the linebackers I don’t see how can criticize the runner

Joe
I have been watching and or playing football for 55 plus years and have seen plenty of stiff arms in that time. Whites stiff arm on that play is the best I ever saw to include Marshawn Lynch.
But maybe I’m just a homer. LOL
Go Bucs!

Didn’t you watch the 2B’s in a Pod in its’ entirety? Canales went into detail on what he likes about Whites’ game as a runner and receiver. Talked about getting ‘Chaad in space and looking forward to seeing White respond to being moved around. Coach also called Sneak a “fantastic” runner, and said he wants White to appreciate being able to “go, go, go” but know that when they’re rotating Sneak in there’s no drop off. Clearly establishing that White RB1, and Vaughn RB2.
I’ll take the opinion of our OC who has command of the actual players on the roster as it’s his job to evaluate talent.

Please let it be so.

White being defined by that stiff arm is far better than Chris Conte’s outcome vs Pittsburgh…..

I think he is solid with the right mental makeup to grind.
Problem he has is having to play behind the worst line in football

Last year’s rookie wasn’t a breakout player so let’s draft another rookie and hope for the best lol ok
Don’t understand being down on the rookie when no one performed up to standard. Using another high pick on a back means you are drafting his replacement or throwing away a pick. I think not drafting someone was a nod to sneak Vaughn getting his shot also

That play got White the Angry Run award on the NFL morning show. You’re right Garro, that was awesome?

Beej … EXACTLY!
Every RB (minus Barry Sanders and there’s only one of him) needs the OL to create a hole. RBs were getting hit behind the line all year. The left side of the line was atrocious. It’s no secret why the entire line was overhauled.
We have 700 lbs in two guys on the left now. We have three really big TEs to help. We have a OC that knows how to run (Seattle’s run schemes are the best). White is going to shine.
Look out for Sean Tucker, too. I think the Bucs are keeping him a secret.

If Tucker can become baby Chub, and White turns into Beastmode 2.0 we might be on to something. Throw in sneak, and Edmonds, we’re good.

Good vision, quick burst, sharp cuts, good hands, and physical for his size. No reason he shouldn’t thrive if the scheme works and gives him a chance.

LOL, My last name is Tucker, so guess who I am pulling for ?

Any word on Tucker being able to go full speed next week?
I hope we have 4 guys that can tote the rock.

@BillyBucco
That’ll probably be announced once Tucker reports, gets his physical, and meets with the trainers and team doctors. Though, it’s been insinuated since OTAs Tucker would be “ready for training camp” and part of me feels the $150K guarantee the team paid him was to get him in the building and keep him in-state.
Read awhile back Tucker trains in Ft. Lauderdale, but I haven’t been able to nail down which facility in attempts to find if his trainer has any video of him post-draft.

It’d be nice to get an update on Tucker. All we ever hear is that when/if he’s cleared from the heart issue…. What exactly is everyone waiting on? Test results? More tests? What is the timeline, and why does this decision seemingly have to come right before training camp?
July 21st, 2023 at 12:56 pm
Tucker was at worst a day 2 pick if not for that health scare, Bucs got a bargain. Plenty of undrafted backs make their mark. Soon we won’t have to guess, can’t wait for training camp

Stealing someone else’s comment on here. No one on offense performed well last season and we had players. TB12, CG14, ME13 , wirfs Otton white. Come on to say this kid didn’t perform when the other future HOF , pro bowl players and studs didn’t either just seems white is getting all the hate and everyone else gets a pass. Not to mention white was a rookie too. Not all rookies can ball out their 1st season like Winfield , ME13, wirfs did.

Seems it should be obvious to anyone who knows anything about football that even the great running backs will struggle if the offensive line gets manhandled by the defensive line. No holes to run through, no yards to be gained.

I like White but we need a stable of good backs. Please sign Cook asap and I will feel much better. Just restructure Evans and free up some money on a one year prove it deal. Can he stay out of trouble

Can any back playing behind an awful line be judged properly?
