So last week it was learned exactly when the Bucs will break out the creamsicles for the first time since Lavonte David was a rookie in 2012.
The Bucs announced that on Oct. 15, when the Bucs host their old NFC Central rival the Lions, the creamsicles will be back.
It’s cool to see the players as excited to wear in them as Bucs fans are to see the team play in them.
“I’m so excited to wear those,” Dean said. “I’ve been waiting for years like, ‘Man, I hope I’m on the team when they bring those jerseys out.”
How excited is Dean for this game? Players often trade jerseys with friends or respected gladiators on the other side of the line of scrimmage once the game is over.
For the creamsicle game on Oct. 15, Dean said there isn’t any way he’s giving away his jersey, No sir.
“Once I get it, I’m keeping it forever,” Dean said. “No jersey swap – I’m letting everybody know right now I’m not jersey swapping.”
Now David shook Joe to his very core last week when he said the creamsicles are not the same as what he wore in 2012 and that Bucs fans will be surprised.
Joe was appalled. Why would the Bucs disgrace those beautiful threads? Well, Joe spoke with two Bucs sources. Joe was told that the creamsicles will indeed honor the old creamsicles with the same design.
The fabric of the uniforms, Joe was told, maybe different, but the color scheme remains the same.
(Yes, that last phrase is an intended pun referencing the classic Led Zeppelin movie, “The Song Remains the Same” that debuted the same year the Bucs were born, 1976, introducing the world to the creamsicles.)

As a franchise long fan, I always liked the orange jerseys. But watching loss after loss, you just stop caring whst they wear. JUST WIN BABY. LIKING A JERSEY AND GETTING BEAT , IT JUST WILL NOT MATTER WHAT THEY WEAR. Years of losing with those orange jerseys, and the mostly white Road Togs they wore until the Orange pants in the early 90’s. Watching multiple 25+ road game losing streaks in those Road Togs was always fun. Yeah use these jerseys but please never go back to them as a main uniform.

I still can’t believe they’re wasting the throwbacks on the Lions. All I think of when seeing the Bucs in orange vs the Lions is some awful, bad football teams. I guess that is what we should expect this year as well — and the Lions are the Lions, and after giving their awful fans and terrible city a little bit of hope, they’ll crush those hopes by being a loser team this year.
Should have had those uniforms for MNF vs the Eagles – in a packed station, on national TV, they’d have sold a million uniforms. Instead the Lions vs Bucs will be a local broadcast in Tampa and Detroit and no one will remember the game happened 5 mins after it ends. And no, they’re not going to make more in extra sold tickets for the Lions game compared to what they’re losing in revenue by not doing the throwbacks on a national platform. Terrible marketing.

barry sanders used to run completely wild on us in the creamsicle days…like running right out of his cleats type wild…he left mossies on the field, in orange piles with broken ankles, as he scooted past everyone for numerous long distance scampers…including one game of two 80 yard runs…he was like the best i ever saw…and believe it or not, but before him the lions has another runner named billy sims who was really good as well – and when he used to play the bucs, he to would also tear us a new azzh*le…basically detriot backs used to really bring it to the bucs back in those days – from what i recall…
the bucs should get tommy b in the stadium and hopefully wearing a creamsicle number 12 auth jersey – cut to him in his box seat a few times donning the gear with a hot babe by his side…
and yeah sounds about right…old school design with the new nike authentic jersey design and material – these new authentics are nothing like the older gems from years back, material wise

also these new nike authentics are crap, or no one really wants them…a lot of weird materials and plastic and sh!t…
before nike took over it used to be a thing to go after authentics and even have a few or a nice collection of your own…
granted, jay z also made authentics very in style for a while as well…
but a lot of sports fans and collector types were hooked on building an authentic jersey collection…
now since nike took over i hear of no one collecting these authentics and the major retailers never really carry or push them as purchasable items…yeah they are somewhat available, but it’s kind of limited, with what seems to be even more limited interest by the fans…
when the bucs finally were going to get the pewter color rush jersey, i thought to get one in the true on field authentic version because i hadn’t gotten one in years – and i felt it was a must have …so i searched everywhere and guess what….it wasn’t even made available to the public…all i would see is the option for the red or white version authentics…never the pewter…eventually i gave up on my quest and said the heck with it…
i still have a few classic authentics from the2002 sapp era bucs…made by adidas…those are nice and classics

I think we saw the new version of the throwback during this year’s draft. It was a scarier version of Bucco with a skull and more of a black backdrop. Anyone else see that?

Love the orange jerseys and am excited we’re finally going to wear them again. But for the love God let us NEVER wear the Jameistake era jerseys as a throwback. Especially not the godawful all bright red uniforms.

I usually agree with Rod Munch, but not what he said about the Detroit Lions.
Rod said they had awful fans for their awful city.
I can agree with him about the awful city, but not the fans.
Detroit Lion Fans are some of the best fans in the NFL.
However I do agree with Rod The Uniforms would have been better against the Eagles, because that is a Nationally Televised game.

As sad as it is to say I was excited to watch us play Barry Sanders Lions and Walter Payton Bears We got to see greatness.
Even if we did not win.
It was not just against the Bucs Sanders ran like a pinball against defenses. He did his damage across the league. Same with Payton.
I want to get a Lavonte David jersey. Creamsicle would be a great choice.

I’m already sick of hearing about these creamsicle jerseys.
They were the ugliest uniforms worn by some of the worst teams in NFL history…
When the Bucs changed to Pewter and blood red it was a great day in Tampa Bay indeed.
Plus Bucco Bruce looked liked a total Mulvaney.

I know some people will blast me for saying it, but I’ve never understood the love for the creamsicle uniforms. Beyond the color scheme, to me they are just emblematic of a culture of losing. Not just losing, but losing Bucs style. Like 0-26 losing. Like football follies (remember those?) type losing. And the Bucs wanna say “Remember these?” If you wanna show how they won two Super Bowls AFTER switching, that’s cool. If it’s a salute to the old players of that era, fine. But looking back on that historic losing with fondness? I just don’t get it.

Yay, I can wear my original Bucs cap signed by LeeRoy and my #12 jersey. BTW it’s the first Bucs cap from 1975. Looks like a Tenn Vols cap with iron on Bucs logos and Bucco Bruce.

For those looking at the creamsicles as a reminder of the losing, I look at how far we’ve come from those times. So, looking back at that era with the Bucs now being in arguably a better place is nostalgic.
It’s a throwback jersey for a game or two. No need to hit the bottle! It’s good to honor the history and appreciate how far we’ve come. Would any Bucs fan in the 80s-90s think we would ever win a Super Bowl, let alone 2 (so far)?
I will wear creamsicle with pride.

1st thing I thought when I read Lavonte David’s comments regarding the throwback uniforms was that maybe we’d be wearing the White Jerseys and Orange Pants combo. It probably won’t be that, but it would’ve been nice. Oh well, as long as we win, I don’t care what we wear. Go Bucs!

Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa – I don’t know, all the Lions fans I’ve ever met have been terrible people, they’re basically like Packers fans, just having less of a reason to live. But I will say they’re all better than Eagles fans, so we can all agree on that.

unbelievable – yeah, the Bucs won that game vs the Packers. That is famously the game where Aaron Rodgers complained post game about the grass being hard – truly one of his most whiny moments ever.

Because TIM, the Bucs shouldn’t only be remembered for 76. in their 3rd season they had top 5 defense and lost their QB midseason at 4-5. in their 4th year of existence they play HOME in Tampa in the NFC championship game, and missed Super Bowl by 10 points. only 3 seasons after 0-14. That started a period of greatness… First team to win division in 4th year, fell in 1980, but won division again in 1981, and made it to playoffs by winning 5 of last 6 in 1982. From 78 to 82 The Bucs under Doug Williams were a competitive and often winning team. THATS what I remember about the orange. I can’t wait
