“Enough Talent There To Be A Playoff Team”

Shaun King is no Peter King.
The elder King Peter is the NBC NFL super insider who is convinced the Bucs are a brutal team headed for a top pick in the 2024 draft. That’s why King ranked the Bucs as the 31st-best team in the league and put his foot down on that call.
Peter King is not alone. Joe has documented several analysts saying the Bucs are cruising toward being able to count their 2023 victories on one hand.
Shaun King, one of four Bucs quarterbacks to lead the club to the NFC title game, is the straight-shootin’ lifelong Tampa Bay fan now working for the VSiN Network after his coaching stint at the University of South Florida.
Shaun King was on WDAE radio this week talking about how Las Vegas oddsmakers and others think the Bucs are hot garbage, but he cannot buy into that.
“The names are there,” he said of the Bucs’ roster. “When I look at that roster, Nos. 1 to 22, I mean there’s enough talent there to be a playoff team.”
Amen, Shaun.
Joe can’t poke a ton of holes in the Bucs roster. It’s strong when you consider the Bucs are dealing with a salary cap mess caused by living large — and successfully — during the Tom Brady years.
Joe still can’t believe the PFF Tribe thinks general manager Jason Licht has assembled a JV team.
No excuses for Todd Bowles. He has enough talent to at least be as good as every team in the NFC South last season, when no club finished worse than 7-10.

Quarterbacks lead teams to the playoffs and the bucs don’t have one. I think the only reason they didn’t tear it down to the studs is because they still think they can win a putrid division. I suppose it’s not out of the realm of possibility, but this doesn’t look like a playoff team to me. The only way I see them making the playoffs is if the division totally craters

@LUVMYBUCS…. I think Robinson is garbage now unfortunately. Injuries ruined him these past 2 years. Clearly he hasn’t gotten over the Achilles and whatever else sidelined him otherwise the Pats wouldn’t have cut him already.

The Bucs are hot garbage in the worst division in the NFL. The only question left is are the other division teams even more garbage?
Bucs have some talent with a big hole at QB and a bad HC. So I can see why Peter King has the Bucs ranked at 31. I am not expecting much this season in terms of wins, but it should be entertaining- like watching a train wreck.

TWO OBSERVATIONS
1. Shaun King is no Peter King
Shaun played pro football. Peter King never played football (not even in high school).
2. The Bucs roster is better than everything is advertising.
I’m half-convinced this is Las Vegas’ doing. They know what’s up and want get betters taking Bucs opponents for easy money early in the season.

Given the weak state of the NFCS and NFC in general the Bucs having average or above average talent is good enough to compete.
