Kay Adams Is Big Believer In Rachaad White
July 10th, 2023Bucs running back Rachaad White has a friend in a high place.
And that friend’s name is Kay Adams.
The former it-girl of NFL Network, Adams was raving about White recently on her FanDuel TV show “Up and Adams” just before she jetted off to Poland. (The idea of vacationing on foreign soil during Fourth of July weirds Joe out.)
Adams sounded as if White is about ready to be an All-Pro.
“The lane is clear for him to be the guy in Tampa,” Adams said. “And we hope he is.”
So does Joe.
Adams trumpeted White getting 771 yards last season. That’s total yards. C’mon Kay, you know that’s a blip on the radar for a 17-game season.
Yes, White has a clear path to show he’s Thee Guy in the Bucs backfield. He did a nice job catching the ball out of the backfield in his rookie season. Running the ball, save for one game, White was a non-factor, that’s all there is to it.
Joe has to wonder if White begins this season struggling running the ball, then how quick of a hook will Todd Bowles have?
Remember, Bowles needs wins. Joe doesn’t think Bowles has much luxury to p!ss away games due, in part, to a running back who can’t run. Bowles could get away with that with Tom Brady. Not so much Baker Mayfield.
Joe wonders how much patience Bowles will have before turning to someone who has demonstrated he can run, Sneak Vaughn.
Joe is rooting for White. Good guy and Joe wants good things to happen to good people. And if White is having a good year there is a great chance the Bucs are winning.
.@Buccaneers RB Rachaad White is flying under the radar…
There are some doubters out there butttt we think he is going to be a big factor this year, and @heykayadams and @MattHamilton25 explain why ⬇️

We’re about to find out. I’m optimistic on White and the new OL.
July 10th, 2023 at 10:30 am
White is a good RB and I am glad he’ll get to showcase his skills. one of the positives for this year with an improved O line…….and assuming they don’t do up the gut on 1st 80% of the time. He can get to the corner.

Would like to see Ko as FB on occasion….
Kay Adams…..looks good even in the morning with sleep in her eyes….(I suspect)

We should definitely bring in Kareem Hunt for some physical pounding, I like sneak but Hunt is far better. Go Bucs

[This is just bullsh!t! Can you cite any example of Joe mocking a woman just because she covers football? No you cannot, because Joe has never done that and doesn’t give a flying eff if it’s a woman or a man or some pink alien from Jupiter.
Joe actually admires Kay Adams a ton because she knows what she’s talking about and does research. DO BETTER! — Joe]

“Running the ball, save for one game, White was a non-factor, that’s all there is to it.”
This was true in general for any RB we had last year. Fournette had one game over 100 yards rushing in week 1, and one with 72 yards rushing (but just 3.6 YPC). So even his 2nd best game wasn’t a great rushing performance.
He had 6 games with 28 yards rushing or less lol. 3.5 YPC
Can’t see it getting much worse
July 10th, 2023 at 12:08 pm
I can’t remember the last time 2 elite RBs like Cook/Hunt were both available this late in FA.
Hunt is intriguing because he’s had his touches limited in Cleveland and should still be pretty fresh at 27.
July 10th, 2023 at 12:46 pm
Well, running backs can’t make their own holes. Emmitt Smith Glory Days used to average 3 yards before he was even touched by an opposing player. Our guys can’t even get three yards more often than not

THE BUCS WON’T KNOW WHAT THEY HAVE IN THE OFFENSE UNTIL AFTER THE SEASON STARTS LETS BE PATIENT

The overt misogyny Joe has when discussing any female NFL reporters
Misogyny (noun) -Dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women.
Where’s the misogyny?? Joe said “The former it-girl of NFL Network”, if anything joe overtly “simps” when discussing any female NFL reporters

Baker Mayfield needed the #1 rushing attack in the league just to win one playoff game 😂😂 Todd Bowels gonna need a helluva lot more than a good running game to win with Baker Mayfield… such as a #1 defense.

Good job, wordsmith Jack Clark. Too many people loosely throw around terms they do not understand nor comprehend.
I, for one, enjoy the reporting style on this site, as it differs from the national maroons/morons and actually conveys a message.
Good job, Joes. This site is akin to my daily reading of the newspaper – it starts my day off right.
[Thank you for the kind words. Much appreciated. — Joe]

Ko Overt misogyny isn’t a bug on JBF its a feature – and one of the things that that keeps me reading. We don’t need DEI sports punditry. As far as I’m concerned if the girl covering football isn’t Cynthia Frelund or sometimes Mina Kimes then the opinion should be disregarded. Those women seem to be able to run with the boys, the rest not so much. The two mentioned stick to business and get into the granular. I gave Kay a shot when she started her own show and one of the first things she did was promote alternative lifestyles and speak in clichéd generalities. I take her sports opinions with a grain of salt.
Having said all that the failure of Tampa’s running game started when Gronk retired and the offensive coaching staff thought they could run Otton out there and get the same result. Gronk blocked like a guard. Can anyone find any tape from last season where Otton made a block at the LOS? I’d wager such tape doesn’t exist. That was a monumental miscalculation. Also they Drafted Kieft thinking they replace one player with two – one to catch and one to block. Every time Kieft ran on the field defenses knew a run play was coming. Again, bad miscalculation.
Bucs coaches did a poor job keeping defenses honest with scheme and personnel – plus the interior of the line got beat physically so consistently they went away from it and TB12 stopped calling sneaks.
So this year assignment blocking is going away in favor of zone blocking. In theory the play doesn’t blow up when a player misses a blocking assignment as the back can pick a different lane. We have no idea what it is going to look like. New coaches, new scheme, new lineman, new starting RB – its anyone’s guess at this point. I’ve heard White predictions of 1500 yards from scrimmage – seems like pure aspirational guesswork if you ask me.
I still think yards after contact is key metric with backs. A tail back has to be able to run through arm tackles. White was ranked low there. Joe says the guy put on muscle. If true should help. I wouldn’t bet on this team having a top 10 running offense, however.
Bottom third rushing attack + Captain Checkdown = disaster waiting to happen. That’s why I’m a member of the Trask Mob. With Kyle we have a chance of having a decent passing offense.

Joe will be Joe, that’s why we’re here. Don’t always agree, but Joe gives as good as he takes.

July 10th, 2023 at 2:27 pm
In college his tape shows a patient Le’Veon Bell type of RB who would hesitate just a tick before exploding through the hole. With the Bucs he didn’t run that way, and I bet you anything it was the stupid coaches telling him he has to run full speed into the hole (“in the NFL you can’t hesitate you have to hit the hole at 100MPH,” that stupid nonsense). I hope the new coaches actually go back and look at his tape and realize they have someone special if they let him run like he did in college and lets blocks develop, instead of being another Michael Pittman and running into the backs of his offensive lineman on every day.
In any case, if the Bucs running game is more than running up the gut on every 1st down into 8-man fronts, White will be a star – and if he’s allowed to be more patient, he’ll be a superstar.

IncelBucsFan. What some of y’all find entertaining is frankly bizarre and low-brow. There are women involved in all levels of the Buccaneers organization, who would put you dummies to shame with football acumen. Judge people by the merits of their work.

July 10th, 2023 at 5:26 pm
Cynthia is especially easy on the eyes. Smoke show.
Ko is our resident white knight who strawmans everyone protecting the sanctity of the game’s culture as a frustrated incel when it’s actually the opposite dynamic. Irony abounds.
I don’t mind women in football as long they actually have acumen (and are hot) and are not elevated because of equity directives. Also having women in the broadcast booth (analyst talk shows maybe OK) is a straight up clown show move. They don’t belong there. This is a masculine culture. Let’s not mess with that too much. It is OK to have masculine dominated spaces (using grievance studies vernacular). It’s popular among male and female consumers of the NFL.
Then again of course we live in a society where certain people struggle to define what a woman is. I think it’s safe to say xirs doesn’t represent the core NFL demographic – so opinions coming from that particular peanut gallery should be disregarded.
July 10th, 2023 at 6:54 pm
These comments insinuating women don’t know football are foolish. Do you even know who Jackie Davidson is and the role she plays for the team?
You went on a whole rant about transgenders and equity when all that was stated is how ignorant it is to make blanket statements about women and football. Get a grip dude.. not everything is political, in this case I just got annoyed reading baseless and unnecessary commentary. Plenty of women know football and look no further than the staff on the team you cheer for.

Continue the narrative that the RB who only played part time behind a crappy offensive line was the entire problem with the run game last year.
If White goes off on the Vikes it will be very amusing to some of us.
Go Bucs!

July 11th, 2023 at 10:26 am
Ko with DEI and ESG competency can’t be assumed. I’d say that it creates the assumption to the contrary.
I’ve worked in orgs that promote based on gender (race often not as weighted) over merit. The resulting ish show ranges from minor folly to catastrophic project failure and mass exodus of talent. Why stick around if you’re going to get leap frogged by lesser qualified undeserving candidates? The worst is when they give some gender mascot title and salary then expect you to do the work. They peacock strut around like a big girl boss but all the emails on what work needs to be done flow to you. You can only take so much of seeing some incompetent diversity hire pull up in a brand new X5 while you’re pulling her weight. It’s not sustainable. At C-level there is this disconnect that any warm body in a seat can make the magic happen, but that’s wildly incorrect as ability is still a necessity for productivity.
Don’t get me wrong I’ve seen some very credible women in the workplace, but I’ve also seen women get hired and promoted into positions they had no business being in. If you work in modern corporate America you’ve witnessed it.
Now I can’t say if Jacqueline falls in category A or category B because I’m not in that building, but when you see someone like her in an actuary science + contract law + predictive football skill translation position you have wonder – was she hired over more deserving candidates because she checks off demographic boxes? That’s an atypical skillset – nerd-lawyer-jock. I’d say she probably was. Let’s not confuse utility for proficiency. This is a common occurrence nowadays and irony of it is it’s highly discriminatory.
Don’t be mad at me over it. The contemporary dogma priorities immutable characteristics over merit explicitly. Diversity is allegedly strength. It is what it is.
July 11th, 2023 at 10:36 am
Honestly your pseudo intellectual babble is incoherent. Not only do you make wild assumptions, you’re not using half of your vocabulary correctly. Peace. My point stands and any other staffer for the Buccaneers (who may or may not poke around on this site) would certainly agree with it as so many of the colleagues are women.
Also, if you knew Jack about this team you’d know that Jackie is emerging as one of the brightest minds in the NFL and along with Spytek will be a consideration for future GM positions.
July 11th, 2023 at 12:14 pm
I have some inside kb on sports franchise management. It’s a little window into that world. It’s highly nepotistic and magical thinking abounds. Starting at the top it’s all a passion project that just happens to be profitable. You can do whatever you want outside some rules from collective bargaining.
Those rules don’t support merit as a driver. The Pareto Principle is at work. As long as you have rock stars filling out your 20% (or in some cases 5%) you have some big leeway in the remaining 80% (or 95%).
That casts a haze on capabilities and only insiders know who the bright lights are – the people who actually carry the lift – from the collection of dim bulbs.
So yeah it’s not regressive to see the potential inefficiencies.
I mean it’s not like we haven’t seen complete disasters get hired as GMs before for all your talk of buzz. Might as well hire a woman of color and get that sweet sweet DEI/ESG love. What’s the difference? Think Jack could do any worse than Dominick? Why TF not?
This racial/gender equity over merit folly places a label of incompetence on any person like Jackie deserved or undeserved. It’s the natural result of Neo-Marxist dogma. This is the world you created. Don’t be upset by it.
July 11th, 2023 at 1:21 pm
The world I created. Interesting. Seems like you’ve got the world figured out even though you’re talking to a libertarian Vet who just believes your absolutes and immaturity are small-minded. Your black-and-white world doesn’t exist.. sorry if your echo chamber on Facebook made you believe it did. Fool. This is a football board go take your lame political cliche’s somewhere else.
July 11th, 2023 at 1:55 pm
The same Kay Adams that was adamant that the Bucs draft Bijan Robinson?
July 11th, 2023 at 4:46 pm
I like this website and I don’t want to create drama outside harmless football bants and cause Joe grief.
I’ll only say this. My opinions are formed by life experience and what I’ve seen and witnessed. I gave you the IRL example. We all make judgements through our own prism.
As a fan of the Bucs my hope is that ownership prioritizes winning football games. That’s the goal. Whether or not that gets accomplished bears itself out over time. If the personnel in place makes it happen we’ll all know.
NFL stands for Not For Long. New GMs come in and they bring in their own people. They get fired they go and so do many others. Jobs are transient. So if you’re in that seat its probably a good idea to make sure the best people are empowered around you towards that end. Otherwise why are you there? Stick to the mission. Be competitive. Be motivated to bring success. Also realize the sword cuts both ways. Being merit-based is always the best way to do things as it always lifts up the most deserving.
