No Top-12 Offense In The Division Next Year

May 21st, 2023

Falcons QB Desmond Ridder.

What a great year it is for the Bucs to be installing a new offensive coordinator and hosting an alleged quarterback competition.

NFL.com data guru Cynthia Frelund, who is an analytics nerd with access to all the great NextGen Stats info the NFL has yet to sell/share with the public, applied her software and projected the top-12 NFL offenses of 2023 now that rosters are mostly set.

She named and explained the top-10 in detail but noted the Dolphins and Vikings are a close 11th and 12th.

Joe was loving that Frelund has no NFC South team in that top-12 grouping. That’s great for the Bucs, which have enough talent and coaching to deliver a top-10 defense next season.

One fun and encouraging fact revealed in Frelund’s NextGen “computer vision” data shows that Aaron Rodgers was the best quarterback at helping the effectivenss of his offensive line over the past five seasons. Joe thought Tom Brady would have owned that honor.

If Frelund’s data projection is on the money, then the NFC South won’t have an offense that is better than mediocre, which would surprise no one.

This is all making Joe wonder why the Bucs can’t be a strong contender for a third consecutive division title.

What? We’re gonna have the #1 offense in the NFL next year.

  2. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Such a guess.
Her data and her looks are fake as F.
1 if not 2 of the NFC South teams will be in the top 15.
Not saying it will be us, I hope it is, but these “experts” are proven wrong every season.

  3. D-Rok Says:

The potential of this offense is anywhere from #10 to #30. Nobody knows. Waiting sucks.

  4. Tony Says:

How can they have such little faith in Todd Bowles? Unbelievable. The dude who just graduated after like 35 years.

  5. Tye Says:

High HIGHLY doubt Falcons or Panthers will be anything…..

The Saints and Bucs with a lot of similar issues will MOST likely be tussling for the coveted NFCS crown!

  6. Buccos Says:

The division is wide open this year. We have just as good of a chance as anyone else.

  7. Duane Says:

We should at least have a top 10 defense with all games we have against the nfc south. This team appears to be assembled to win ugly, and that style of play is a natural outlier for the spread sheeters. Not saying I have faith in Bowles, but I am saying there is a chance to subvert failure with mediocrity.

  8. Voice of Truth Says:

The division winner this year will likely be 7-10, so yeah we should be one game out of first at 6-11….that could be considered competitive I suppose

So we are expected to be a small fish in small pond next year? According to Miss statgeek? NFL.com could have asked me and without the aid of any comuter or program I could have told them the same thing. Wow am I amazing or what?

Like I tell my son who listens to this crap: I guess there’s no point in playing the game then.

  11. Buc1987 Says:

It really does depend on who the QB is going to be….
