My Paramount Plus account will finally be used extensively for live TV this year!

Leopold
Sorry to hear that because so far streaming NFL games has absolutely sucked
May 11th, 2023 at 8:14 pm
That bye week is early
May 11th, 2023 at 8:16 pm
WOW
4 of the final 11 games are in the road
May 11th, 2023 at 8:17 pm
We are going to get our a$$ kicked on national v in the beginning of the year. No back to back brutal games. Crappy bye week, but if the can keep it together until the last 6 games (4-4/5-1) we could surprise some people. I see 9-10 games won if both sides of the ball gel thru out the course of the year.
May 11th, 2023 at 8:18 pm
4-2/5-1
May 11th, 2023 at 8:19 pm
MaxTV on firestick, $25/mo but I have not missed a Bucs game or any other sport, I live in NC, but I get all local channels from different major cities and NFL Sunday Ticket (not sure how that may work out with YouTube taking over)
May 11th, 2023 at 8:21 pm
At this too-early point, I see another near .500 season. 7-9 maybe. 9-7 with hyper optimism.
May 11th, 2023 at 8:32 pm
If we lose to Chicago we are doomed.
May 11th, 2023 at 8:33 pm
Eagles Monday night that early could be embarrassing.
May 11th, 2023 at 8:33 pm
12 – 5
May 11th, 2023 at 8:36 pm
Green Bay in mid December? Bad luck.
May 11th, 2023 at 8:37 pm
6-11
12 wins?
Wow. Which dispensary do you go to? LMK!
May 11th, 2023 at 8:39 pm
Personally I prefer 1pm kicks, but this is a schedule for a team that the league expects to be bad.
May 11th, 2023 at 8:41 pm
5 & 12 — then Bowles is thankfully gone
May 11th, 2023 at 8:51 pm
Maximum wins 10.
May 11th, 2023 at 8:55 pm
Rrsrq YouTube Sunday ticket is much better. At least the price is. It’s like $349 for the whole season compared to $189 per month with Directv
May 11th, 2023 at 9:04 pm
0-7 start with 5 possible wins, 4 if we split with the Panthers, 3 if we lose to the Colts or Titans or Packers.
May 11th, 2023 at 9:16 pm
There’s good and bad here – but overall I believe this a favorable schedule for the 2023 Buccaneers.
Having such an early bye week seems bad because its a long season after that with no breaks other than the mini break after Thur night game vs Bills week 8.
But it might be good for a younger team with a new QB actually. Play 4 games and then take a close look at what’s working and what’s not and make adjustments after the first 1/4 of the season…. hopefully sitting at 3-1 or at least 2-2.
I only see 3 teams that stick out as very tough opponents. Philly at home in week 3, at Buffalo in week 8 and at San Fran in week 11. And I like that those games are spread out somewhat – and I like that we don’t have any super tough opponents the final 7 weeks of the season….
It would seem like an easy bitching point that 7 out of the final 11 games are on the road. But the upside to that is 4 of the first 6 games are at home. This team likely needs all the advantages it can get early in the season. A “fast start” is crucial to the success of the 2023 team I’d say – so hopefully we can stack some wins early – gain some confidence – and manage to play some exciting football and get through the 17 game season with at least a winning record……
Go Bucs!
May 11th, 2023 at 9:41 pm
Not expecting much outta this team but I hope they prove me wrong
May 11th, 2023 at 9:44 pm
Early bye might be a lifesaver if the offense doesn’t start as gangbusters.
8-9 or 9-8
May 11th, 2023 at 9:48 pm

The only game I’m really flip-flopping on in my head is @Indy – and beating the Saints at home. Bad Bucs team seem to beat the Saints, while good ones lose, and, well, this team should be pretty bad.
May 11th, 2023 at 9:51 pm
looks like the nfl is giving baker a 4 game trial run…
as if a change can possibly be made during the bye week if we or he is struggling
May 11th, 2023 at 9:53 pm
holy sh!t rod –
you’ve got the bucs spiraling into an 8 game losing streak…omg
May 11th, 2023 at 9:56 pm
adam from ny – yep, the old Ray Perkins special, as I call it.
May 11th, 2023 at 9:58 pm
i say we max out at 10 wins…
and the low number for us is 5 wins…
so i’m guessing we wind up somewhere in the middle at 7 or 8 wins for the season…
from referring to rod’s post above ^^^
i see us squeaking out 2-3 more wins during that supposed 8 game slide…possibly from houston, tenn, indy, carolina or atlanta
May 11th, 2023 at 9:59 pm
i’d say 7 or 8 wins, and they move on from bowles…
7-8 wins ain’t gonna cut it
May 11th, 2023 at 10:00 pm
green bay in december…yikes!
#FrozenTundra = #NoTuddies
May 11th, 2023 at 10:04 pm
adam from ny – Bad Bucs team tend to lose all those close games, and lose games that, when you look at the schedule, before the season, you think should be W’s. Then they’ll randomly do things like beat some of the best teams in football like the Eagles, maybe even the Bills, in particular early in the season or late in the season.
With that said, I’d LOVE to be proven wrong, either way. I hope this is either a 10-win team and is competing for a playoff spot, or I hope they’re competing with the 1976 Bucs for how many games they can lose, which at least would secure them the #1 pick in the draft. Getting 5 or 6 wins is just about the worst case scenario since you’re too good to get a top QB, and yet you’re also terrible to watch and not at all entertaining.
May 11th, 2023 at 10:18 pm
Yeah Rod, I remember those Perkins years like in ’88 when they started like 2-3 (beat a 3-13 Green Bay team twice) lost like 6 in a row and the beat the Lion and Bills to head into the final week at 4-11. I was there, cold 50 degree day vs the 4-11 Lions. Draft possibilities for both clubs: lose get the 2nd or third pick, win get 6th. Bucs won 21-10. Detroit got Barry Sanders at #3 after Green Bay got Mandarich. The 4 win Falcons and Chiefs got Deion Sanders and Derrick Thomas. Perkins’ 5-11 Bucs got Broderick Thomas. Perkins got fired during the next season.
I can see something similar happening with the 23 Bucs except Bowel will get launched in 23 not 24. I like your predictions but would flip Philly to an L and make the Indy road game a W, a win that could cost the Bucs a few draft slots just like that Lion game in ’88.
May 11th, 2023 at 10:28 pm
It’s well established it takes about half a season with learning a new offense but they do luck up with some wins…
at Minnesota (known to start slow; but good defense) – L
CHICAGO (garbage team; would be horrible bad to lose to) – W
PHILADELPHIA (solid team) – L
at New Orleans (many same issues as Bucs; go with home team) – L
Bye Week
DETROIT (It’s the Lions) – W
ATLANTA (really didn’t improve and Ridder is Not the answer) – W
at Buffalo (great team; Buffalo in Oct) – L
at Houston (garbage team) – W
TENNESSEE (tough team) – L
at San Francisco (top team) – L
at Indianapolis (bottom feeders) – W
CAROLINA (still a lot of holes) – W
at Atlanta really didn’t improve and Ridder is Not the answer) – W
at Green Bay (on the decline with no qb) – W
JACKSONVILLE (on the rise but NOT there yet) – W
NEW ORLEANS (many similar issues; Home team gets it) – W
at Carolina (still a lot of holes) – W
11-6 is possible… IF they get the new offense down early the Bucs could even get wins against Tennessee and/or San Fran….
Of course if we factor in that bowels is HC, the Bucs could easily go 0-17!
May 11th, 2023 at 10:31 pm
I don’t see more than 5 wins unless they get off to a good start of at least 2-2. If not, Bowles should be gone by week 9
May 11th, 2023 at 10:34 pm
7-10 if this team is lucky. 5-12 if we are not. Either way it won’t be enough to get the QB we need in the draft. At least Bowles will be gone.
May 11th, 2023 at 10:35 pm
FortMyersDave – yeah, I was mixing together the 88 and 89 Bucs (who went 3-2 to open the year, including beating the undefeated Bears.
But Perkins used those 3-a-days in the summer heat to have his team in midseason form to start the year. Then by game 6, they were in late season form, in terms of being completely worn out and exhausted and would go on long losing streaks.
To add to your ’89 draft woes, again, I’ll bring up in 1990, everyone that I remember had the Bucs taking Emmitt Smith, but instead they traded for Gary Anderson right before the draft – then to top it off, they passed on Junior Seau because he said he wouldn’t play for the Bucs – and the Bucs had picked Bo Jackson #1 overall a few years earlier, who obviously never played for the Bucs either. So instead of Seau or Smith, we get… Keith McCants.
At least with Broderick Thomas, they got some amazing stats. He still has one of the all-time great NFL season, in 1991, he had 174 tackles, 11 sacks and 7 forced fumbles. Also, the 174 is that PFR reports, but the team claimed he had 211 tackles, if memory serves me right. He had those stats – and didn’t make the pro-bowl in a Lavonte David level snub.
Oh, and that 1988 Bucs vs Bills game, where Buffalo was 11-2, that was the first game I ever attended.

Rod, yeah that 10-5 Bucs win was Perkins best win as head coach, great goal line stand by the DL. Bucs always played the Bills tough back in the creamsicle dys.
Oh yeah, I mixed up ’89 and ’90 as well. Perkins did not get launched until 1990 near the end of the season. He survived ’89 though was 5-11 again this time sweeping the Bears (Ditka had a couple of epic meltdowns because of this) and the Pack (?) but Barry Sanders swept the Bucs to add salt to the wound of missing out on him. BTW, you are right Broderick Thomas was not a bust but man, it would have been awesome to have Deion, Barry Sanders or Derrick Thomas as a Buc though they may have not had HOF careers with Perkins and Williamson as their first 2 head coaches..
May 11th, 2023 at 11:13 pm
Been saying 6 wins max all off season and the schedule just confirms it – expect early so-so record then a 6 to 7 game run of losses – glimmer of hope with a weak end of schedule – 6-11 and Bowles is bowled over by the Glazers
Jason won’t go anywhere and maybe Canales gets a shot at HC a la Dirk and Lovie
May 11th, 2023 at 11:45 pm
My analysis is that if the Bucs are good they will win many of these games.
May 12th, 2023 at 12:21 am
Was it Keith McCants or Broderick Thomas that Perkins called “My Lawrence Taylor?” That was over 33 years ago.
BTW Perkins best win was his very first game against Atlanta, though we weren’t in the same division back then. We won 44-3 ot 44-10. I had to listen to it on the radio cuz the only home games that sold out in those days was the Bears games.
May 12th, 2023 at 12:23 am
That said, I say we start 3-1 losing to the Eagles.
May 12th, 2023 at 12:55 am
The NFL thinks we will lose. That’s why we’re playing Philadelphia and Buffalo in prime time!
May 12th, 2023 at 1:13 am
7-10
May 12th, 2023 at 1:25 am
An early bye week 5 might be a good thing for our offense( canales, qb, off line etc) to assess, re- assess things before the season gets out of hand

48-10.
That is the first game I clearly remember listening to on radio, and made me a Bucs fan. No one in my family liked or watched the Bucs, other than to make fun of them. None of my friends liked them. But that beatdown made me a fan for life. Before that I have fuzzy memories, mainly losing to the Cowboys in the playoffs, but after that dumb week 1 game vs the Falcons in 1987, I don’t believe I’ve ever missed a game on TV or radio.

Tye … ’11-6 is possible. Of course if we factor in that bowels is HC, the Bucs could easily go 0-17!
Your prognostication is just as valid as everyone else’s it looks like Tye. Heck, 17-0 is possible; so is 0-17. We have zero idea at this point how good … or bad … this Bucs’ team will be this year. Bunches of new pieces on both sides of the ball.
IMO our Bucs’ defense, and particularly our run defense, will be the key. We face some excellent running teams who love to play smashmouth football & control the game. We’ve reworked most of our front line & it’s anyone’s guess at this point how effective they’ll be at both run defense & pass rush. All those who consistently bash Bowles the HC better hope that Bowles the DC can bring all these new pieces together in a hurry.
May 12th, 2023 at 5:58 am
This schedule reminds me of the late 1990’s schedules we used to get. We would face Brick Farv in the Tundra and have a$$es handed on the scoreboard, and see the kicker Paul Facestheotherway in Chicago crush us late in a game, then in The ‘Sota it was Moss and Carter grinding out wins while we pounded nondescript QBs to ground beef if Culpepper was hurt. Fireman Ed would dance as The Green Lantern scored on us in long Bucs scoring dry spells, and in Philly Sapp would chase McNabb down while Duce was wild and every Sunday was a close heartbreak. We had a dynasty in hand, if only we could get one QB and OC to come to Tampa that could throw a football. At all. In any way. Dungy seemed stubborn until he met Peyton. If we don’t try to beat the Jets’ perfect season this year with an absolute zero, if this coach gets anything more than 2 or 3 wins, we’re gonna be eating Bowles of disappointment for a few more years. I don’t understand why anyone thinks that if TB12 himself was here and was handcuffed to a running script, anything is going to be different were Cheezus here and he could literally perform miracle TD passes with 100% accuracy. Saw a dog once that reminds me of Todd “Toilet” Bowles — got hit in the head and had this thing where he wouldn’t stop going in circles chasing his hind foot in long episodes. Dog was a time suck but the owner loved him so until he croaked, remained stuck with him tryna train him to do something different. Actually felt like beatin the guy with a stick, so stubborn

Rod the Bucs are not going to beat Philly on a Monday night game.
That game is a LOCK for Philly. Bucs will get beaten soundly by Jax too.
I think they beat Indy and Houston – franchises that are in the middle of burning trash fires. Or maybe just one of those teams probably more likely.
So 4-13 will be the Bucs record.
May 12th, 2023 at 11:36 am
Week 5 bye = garbage team, garbage season
May 12th, 2023 at 12:31 pm
I guess we can reach .500 and I’m not being that optimistic. Will be in the mix
May 12th, 2023 at 3:30 pm
It’s the usual baloney on here. It’s May, not the middle of October, and I’m already reading that the Bucs will have a 3-14 season IF they’re lucky. What a load of BS. I was a fan during the Perkins and Williamson regimes. That was during the Crapperhouse ownership era. Perkins was a decent coach but he butted heads with Crapperhouse about paying for decent players. So, he got canned. Williamson just sucked but he didn’t make waves with Crapperhouse. Crapperhouse got his just desserts in the end; he suffered and died of a very rare form of cancer.I’m a cynic but that was cosmic justice. You new ‘fans’ have no clue what it was like back then.
