Kyle Trask Is Giving Off Tom Brady Vibes

Kyle Trask looks the part, says new Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales.
Whether that’s as a starting quarterback or a backup is unclear, but Trask is giving off Tom Brady vibes, Canales said. And that’s a great thing.
Canales was talking today about what he’s seen from Trask and he noted Trask has learned technique from studying The Goat.
“With Kyle, what’s cool is you do see, like just talking about being around Tom for two years, you see his tempo and control and his drop mimicking the guy that was the greatest of all-time. It’s like, ‘Ok, he’s got a great starting point.’ You know, if you were going to play behind somebody, who better than in that frame, that 6-foot-5 frame.”
Canales also added that Trask and Baker Mayfield are working great together, arriving early, talking and watching film and studying with each other.

Tom Brady vibes? Seriously?
I am a Nole, but Trask is Buc, so I want him to do well, because I am a life long Bucs fan. For me, that trumps any allegiance to FSU or disdain for college rivalries. I would be thrilled if Trask won the starting job and became the future of the franchise, but can we at least wait until he has played a meaningful down in a meaningful game before the hyperbole starts?

I love the off season. So much opportunity for optimism. Yeah, I know reality will eventually set in whatever that may be. But I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts. It doesn’t cost me anything and makes life a little more fun.

Interesting. But not surprising. Can he process anywhere near as quickly as Brady though? It’s already known that Trask has HUGE patience and that you can’t rattle him. That would be Unlike Brady.

That to me was the biggest red flag going into this offseason. Year 1 I don’t care if he’s buried on the depth chart but by year 2 if you’re legit you should be beating out Blaine Gabbert.
I can’t think of any(?) QB’s who were top 2-3 round picks and couldn’t win the backup job their first 2 years, that then became legit starters in the NFL.

Good coaches talk up their players in public and criticize them in private. If Canales is as good as they say, he’ll never have a bad thing to say about any of his players.

It’s easy to crap all over this and just say, “LOL,” that was my first instinct. However I like what I’m hearing here, just saying Trask seems to have picked up some traits from Tom.
Meanwhile I doubt Brady could pick Trask out of a line-up, he was such a non-factor and no-body. I’m pretty sure Tom watched that Atlanta game and in the second half when Gabbert was on the sidelines with Brady, Tom had to ask who was playing QB.
With as much as I do not believe in Trask, I still would much much much rather see him playing than watch Mayfield go out there and stink the place up. At least with Trask you got a lottery ticket chance that he isn’t going to be awful, where as Mayfield has been the worst QB in football over the last 2 years.

Also I forget Trask was the last pick of the 2nd round. Looking back at the draft class I don’t even recognize most the non QB players picked in round 3 after him.
Not a huge deal to have taken a shot on him and missed. I personally liked him as an NFL prospect coming out but I just doubt it now after seeing nothing for 2 years

Gabbert had years of experience over him, and talent, even if he wasn’t a good starter. Andy Reid seems to agree that Gabbert isn’t as bad as the babbling boobs and intolerant football critics believe. So, that could be the story behind Trask being stuck at #3. Not that I’m a Trask fan, but I AM fan of having an open mind.

Plain as day why he was not the #2…and it isn’t because of his ability. Even if he turns out to not be good, he was as close to a third rounder as you can get.
But…that turd you are trying to polish is named Baker Mayfield. That is 100% established and expecting it to be different is a dream.
Trask on the other hand…he may or may not be good. We truly do not know, because of the obvious politics. However…the idea situation would be for him to be very, very good…or very, very bad. Not somewhere in the middle.

I don’t believe Bowles will hand him the starting role at the start of the season, unless Baker is injured.

How many QB’s does a team need? How many very talented QB’s can possibly be on any NFL team in these times of the Cap and Parity. Is it possible the Bucs actually have two competent QBs?
How about San Fran last season. They start with Trey Lance(Franchise QB Savior?) Jimmy Garrapolo (Former hero?) ending up with the unknown Brock Purdy last in the draft.
3 different QB’s…all successful at different times. I’m forecasting neither success nor disaster for 2023. I’m already entertained by the intrigue of which QB will win out…what if both are good? And this team has me seeing extremes of great success or great failure with reality probably somewhere in the middle.
I think it’s going to be a fun season. With all due respect to the GOAT the act had grown stale. Always appreciate his last great shot coming with the Bucs but the show was growing stale. I’m ready for a change!

Way too much stock being put into Kyle Trask not winning the backup job it’s kind of jarring to read, especially considering the prize for being QB2 is the same prize for being QB3, but some of you swear there was a competition to NOT play behind Tom Brady lol
3 years in Tampa Blaine Gabbert logged 0 starts. Went 22 of 35 passing for a whooping 239 yards & 3 TDs….in 3 years behind Brady lol. Just do like the rest of us, you don’t know what Kyle is capable of, none of us outside of the facility to and to just fill that “don’t know” with your imagination is kind of silly.

I still think the Bowles cleaner is going to go for experience and appoint Mayfly as the starter.
It will probably be the waste of 3-4 games, but that will be the start. It might also keep Trask healthy while the O-line comes together.
Mayfly won’t fly and Trask will take over, I hope it works because he will be starting in a hole.

If you were a Top QB such as TB12 was would you give pointers to the guy that was the old also ran Gabbert or to the up and coming Trask willing to listen and learn. Mayfield has been too inconsistent. I expect Trask to be the starter.

My prediction is that the Bucs will have victories that number in the double digits. The Bucs would have had more victories last year had they had less injuries and more depth. Also, If Devin White wants to catch on with another team then he needs to have a stellar year otherwise the teams will Not be lining up to pay him.

Some of you are truly insane. Trask was given every opportunity to succeed. Gabby should never have been a starter in this league. Trask couldn’t grab the number two because he couldn’t. No grand conspiracy about experience. The best players play, or get slotted into their proper spots. How many games has he dressed for? Two, last I checked. That has nothing to do with Brady or gabbert. It has everything to do with Trask, and the coaches belief in him

Really getting tired of this narrative. Before Trask ever stepped on the field at 1 Buc Place, it was stated that there would be no quarterback, controversy or competition for the number two spot.
Having said that, if your narrative were true, then the bucs knowingly made a bad pick in the draft. I find it hard to believe they would do that.
They said that his job would be to sit and learn while Brady was here and of course, at the time that’s what everybody was clamoring for. Get a quarterback in here that can learn from Brady. You got what you wanted now you want to change that narrative to one that suits your prejudices.

As a Jets fan, I know first hand how Brady can kill a team with his quick decisions and precision accuracy. I see everything Brady was inside of this kid. I think the same could be said of Jordan love of the packers. Both of them seem to have almost copied the throwing form of each of their respected mentors. I think Trask will be a backup to baker, baker ends up going 2-4 and Trask comes in and saves your franchise. That being said you all have to pray he stays healthy so he gets his shot unlike Matt corral of the panthers.

All you fans seem to be overlooking the biggest factor when choosing the depth chart. Who are we paying? Trask couldn’t beat out Gabbert for the backup spot because Gabbert was paid more. That was one minor reason (maybe). The biggest reason was that Trask *didn’t* beat out Gabbert. Joe saw every training camp practice last year. Trask wasn’t close to beating out Gabbert.

Apparently some of the naysayers on here think Tom Brady walked out of college and right into a starting role. Learn something. Brady was an unknown backup to Drew Bledsoe at the Patriots and would have remained on the bench for a long long time if Bledsoe hadn’t gotten injured. Anybody that watched Kyle Trask as a Gator knows that he was the only one to challenge Joe Burrows in his championship year at LSU. Trask matched Burrows all through the game until a bad call by a referee nullified a long gain and killed a would-be scoring drive late in the game. Until that, it was back and forth.
