Wing Man Yaya Diaby
April 28th, 2023Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht was boasting about an 82-inch wingspan tonight.
It’s not his, and certainly not Joe’s. It belongs to third-round pick edge rusher YaYa Diaby out of Louisville.
Licht said multiple times how Diaby is an extraordinary athlete, a blend of speed and power, with a side of great effort. Licht used the “R” word — raw — but backed off that because he said it has a negative connotation.
That combination of speed and power is critical, Licht said, adding he’s learned over the years that quickness without significant power at that position often fails.
So Diaby is a little raw with all the necessary tools. That’s a great start. And it’s great to have more competition for Joe Tryon-Shoyinka

Serious comp for Showinski.
Serious comp for Logan Hall.
Excellent picks. A+

Uhhh, Joes, sounds like Licht’s lesson was learned with JTS and Hall, huh? Quickness with no power.

Re-do’s for JTS abd Hall.

No instincts, go watch a full game

IDK about Hall but certainly a re-do for JTS.
I think JL is directly referring to JTS. Who else has he drafted that fits the bill?

Diaby has played a lot of football. Not sure I’d profile him as being RAW, other than if he just means he’s going to be RAW, in that he needs to learn NFL pass rush moves. He’s also going to be 24 years old, meaning he should get early playing time.

Love this pick as well. Kid is raw but has all the potential you want. Swear If JTS finally shows up this year as well as Logan our D Line should be serious. Up next should be secondary help. We definitely need a safety & a Cb to compete for that 3rd spot behind Davis & Dean

Can the Dallas Cowboys dude coach DL also? Sometimes I think there are too many voices . Too many cooks in the kitchen, it worked for BA because he actually moved around and talked to everybody.
Bloweszo couldn’t even say a word to Tom Brady, let alone dudes like Logan Who?
Who really needs coaching but not from Bloweszo the Giant Energy Sucking Faulure.

This is a hedge on Shaq this pick has nothing to do with JYS

Most important part of the rebuilding process, especially in the trenches, is building depth. We need more depth at DB on day three. Dean and Davis were injured at points last year and we were disastrous. McCollum was single handedly losing games for us.

JTS deserves competition, he earned it unfortunately

I’m willing to bet a paycheck. He’s better than Jo-Tryon and see all kinds of playing time.

Sittin in LaLa waiting on YaYa.

Diaby could turn out to be a great pick. He will probably start out as a situational guy whose role could pick up during the season. The one thing I really like about our draft so far is all of these young men seem to be hard workers and driven. No, I made it attitudes, or look at me stuff, but they understand that they will have a lot of work to do but aren’t afraid of it.

I like the “tenacity” theme going with all 3 picks. Tryon and Hall do not have it, but maybe the competition will stir them.
April 29th, 2023 at 9:19 am
that last remark sounded like a little dig at Tryon?
April 29th, 2023 at 9:49 am
BD, JTS, isn’t exactly setting the world on fire. Perhaps even regressed this past season.
April 29th, 2023 at 9:58 am
So…..we like DLs with long arms and OLs with shirt arms?
I don’t understand the logic here

Remember Shaq Barrett was UNDRAFTED. Don’t mistake the NFL Draft for a science. There are only a handful of can’t miss players every year.
April 29th, 2023 at 11:17 am
“Just know, they got a dog,” Diaby said of what fans of the Bucs are getting from him.
Now that’s what I want to hear.

Frank Pillow Says, Uhhh, Joes, sounds like Licht’s lesson was learned with JTS and Hall, huh? Quickness with no power.”
Exactly how I read it.

I saw this guy a couple of times playing JUCO at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville. He gets his motor running.
