Joe has written about the big Oklahoma left tackle in the draft and it’s time to revisit the option after a big name puts him in Tampa this week.
Buccaneers fans made their voices heard loudly. The majority believes general manager Jason Licht’s should be laser-focused on the offensive line Thursday night when the NFL Draft begins.
Former Bucs quarterback and current NBC NFL analyst Chris Simms thinks Licht will honor the fans’ wishes.
Simms does one mock draft a year and it’s about what he thinks teams will do based on his intel and assessment. Simms chose Oklahoma left tackle Anton Harrison as the Bucs’ selection at No. 19 overall.
Yeah, it could be that simple. Bucs need a left tackle; Bucs draft a left tackle.
Maybe Licht doesn’t want two first-round picks on his offensive line? Only one offensive linemen drafted in Round 1 started in the Super Bowl last season. However, it is certainly not rare to have multiple first-round picks on an offensive line, and Joe doesn’t think Licht has set restrictions on himself.
The Jets, for those unaware, mauled their way to back-to-back AFC Championship games without a decent quarterback after drafting left tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson and center Nick Mangold in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft.
Harrison is an aggressive player considered to have well-refined skills with an explosive get-off.
Harrison also told SiriusXM NFL Radio that he’s been working out with fellow former Sooners Orlando Brown and Creed Humphrey to try to learn what he can to be an top-tier NFL lineman. Smart! Harrison admitted to following Brown around like an eager puppy.
Joe has a thing for Sooners offensive linemen because of their college line coach, Bill Bedenbaugh, He’s pumped out quite a bit of NFL talent.

This guy, Paris Johnson or Darnell Wright in the first round and I will be happy. If the Bucs are happy with either Wright or Harrison and they are both on the board still then we can hopefully trade back to get another pick.

I would be very happy with Harrison. He has experience and the skill for our new offensive scheme. The only thing better than drafting him at #19 would be to trade back a few slots and still draft him.

Bucs Guy, Yes please…25-27 feels like the sweet spot for Harrison. If FO could spin 19 into a later 1sr+ Day2 pick/s & still get a quality LT…100% Coup, depending on how FO utilized the extra capital.

I’m honestly hoping Bijan falls to us. I’m not sold on white and Bijan Is one of a kind. Besides we can always trade him later and get more picks for him after he’s had some success

Please no! The drop off after the top four OT’s is huge. Harrison is not worthy of the 19th pick. Mid second round at best. Of course that would be consistent with the past two years where they have taken two very underwhelming players with their first pick. Why not make it three. This would be a huge reach for need. DRAFT BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE…….PERIOD!

I definitely am in the camp of us picking an OT. He’s not the one I want but at 19 you gotta let the draft come to you and see how the chips fall.

Whether it’s this guy or someone else that the Bucs scouts like better, I have no BEEF with taking an OT with the first pick.

This guy and Wright both have higher athletic scores similar to Wirfs. Wright having the higher overall score but with slightly shorter arms.

I think this would be a great pick. I hope he is still there in the first. The fifth year option will be nice. I think he fits out offense and then Wirfs can stay put

I’m curious to see how many quarterbacks go ahead of us. That will move down a lot of talent outside the top 10 picks.

Not at 19… hes a reach there. Better off perhaps going DL or Edge depending on how board is and looking OT in 2nd rd

LICHT WANTS A FOURTH
Licht always trades down when he’s missing a pick in any particular round. Look for Licht to move down a few spots if he is offered a fourth.

If Harrison lasts to 19 I can’t gt the pick in fast enough. But I really don’t think he will.
