Ex-GM Talks The State Of Glazer Patience

Is Team Glazer a patient ownership group? One could argue that in either direction.
A guy who knows Team Glazer extremely well shared his opinion on the current state of Glazer patience.
Former Buccaneers rockstar general manager Mark Dominik, a Team Glazer employee for nearly 20 years, was co-hosting on SiriusXM NFL Radio last week and was asked how patient Bucs ownership will be as the team rebuilds/reloads/reassesses following the Tom Brady years.
Interestingly, Dominik replied by referencing Team Glazer’s recent comments to JoeBucsFan.com last month about general manager Jason Licht.
Bucs co-owner Joel Glazer: All you have to do is look at our Super Bowl ring to talk about the job he’s done because that’s the ultimate goal. He put together a Super Bowl team and won a championship, which is very rare in the NFL. Jason’s done a great job in all aspects — drafting, free agency, managing the team. We’re very pleased with the job he’s done. Over time, you’re always learning and his experience and tenure is a big benefit for us in the long term because he’s been through so many different types of situations.
Dominik said that take let’s him know his former bosses feel great about letting Licht do his thing, but Dominik doesn’t think that loose leash applies to Todd Bowles.
“I do think in reading Joel Glazer’s comments at the owners meetings about Jason Licht, you know, the fact that Jason was able to build a Super Bowl championship and put one one on the field, it certainly sounded like he’s going to have more patience letting Jason continue to maneuver this football team into the team he thinks it should become — and with the help of Todd Bowles. But I think if you had to say something, and I think Todd would understand it, Jason’s probably on firmer ground right now than Todd is right now, for sure.”
While Team Glazer would never put a win total on how they would define success in 2023, Joe is confident that number exists in a locked file at One Buc Palace.
Every NFC South team won seven or more games last season, so Joe will start there. Also, Joe thinks Team Glazer expects to see a ferocious and hungry top-10 Bucs defense, a little special teams improvement, and an offense that looks like it’s moving in the right direction under a new coordinator.
Remove any of those elements, and don’t expect Team Glazer to stay patient.

Obviously the Glazers are patient if they weren’t then Jason Licht would’nt have stuck around for a whole damn decade through all the garbage years.
So they’re probably gonna stay patient, what do people expect a playoff team year in year out? That’s not how it works around year.
Licht has plenty of flaws but has earned the right to be the long term GM for the Bucs until it completely collapses.

I don’t think there’s a bottom line win total that Bowles has to hit. It depends on how they look in the second half of the season. If the trajectory is positive and you see real growth in young players, and the team rallies, I don’t think even 6-10 would be fatal. It’s how they finish that will determine Bowles’ fate.

Honestly, I can’t see how the Glazers agreed to let Bowles coach the team. If this season is like last season, Bowles is done.

Bowles has fired half the coaching staff and brought in his guys. He threw his scape goats all out the door after year one, so the heat is now directly on him.
Also, the further away Bruce Arians drifts from operations, the more volatile the ground under Bowles will become. Don’t forget the horrible spot Arians put the Glazers/Licht in when they were forced to hire from within the existing staff rather than do a thorough coaching search. That is very unlike how the Glazer family likes to do business.

If Bucs aren’t in the top half of the league for ST, Armstrong should be fired. He’s consistently kept the Bucs near the bottom. Nobody should keep their job if they are below 50% for 5+ years.

I heard that interview with Dumpsternik while driving. He sounds like one of the stooges, he really does. That was probably the most coherent thing he said in the whole broadcast.
It’s results. Dumpsternik never made the playoffs, and went 28-52 in five seasons, with his “big chance” coming when he fired Raheehaw……and hired Schiamoron. Not to mention all the player personnel fiascos and mistakes which have been well documented so no need to repeat them again.
Licht has a SB ring, two division titles in a row, and got the head coach that Brady wanted to come play for. Now he will need to find another coach that has both head coaching acumen, energy, and magnetism. We have “ism” with the current headcoich but it’s surely not magnetism.

Just saw what the Jets gave up for Rodgers.
It was really cheap. Jets basically swapped 1st round picks with the Pack and gave up a 2nd and a conditional future pick.
Glad to have Rodgers out of the NFC!

The simple fact is that Glazers were led astray by Arians and his love for Bowleswich. Arians sold the Bucs a lemon. Sadly the Glazers didn’t take the time to vet Arians recommendation they just blindly accepted it.
I saw the danger immediately, but I have intuition that is twice as good as the normal person.

Grudin… We wouldn’t have money to pay Diva Rodgers. The reason why he was cheap was because of his contract. 50+ mil a year, plus drama of his personality, and oh idk if I’ll retire or not. As a Wisconsinite, I can tell you that a lot of people are not sad to see him go. They wanted him gone. He wasn’t as likable as Favre was.

to return after what transpired last season. We were a bad football team with only one win against a team with a winning record (Dallas week 1). Complete $hits how under Bowles watch. Bucs should have blown the whole thing up. I hope I am wrong and this season is different.
