Kay Adams: Bucs Better Get Bijan Robinson

Hear ‘ye, hear ‘ye. If the Bucs aren’t blowing smoke about winning the division, then they better draft Bijan Robinson.
That’s the order from none other than Kay Adams. The former “Good Morning Football” and NFL Network princess, Adams now hosts her own show, “Up and Adams,” weekday mornings on FanDuelTV.
This morning, she called out the Bucs.
If the Bucs are serious about winning the division, they will draft Robinson, the star University of Texas running back. If the Bucs don’t, then they are not serious, she said.
Adams isn’t down with Baker Mayfield leading the Bucs to the playoffs. She thinks the less he throws the better for the Bucs. So to have any kind of offense, the Bucs need Robinson. Adams, you can tell, isn’t feeling Rachaad White.
Adams makes a strong argument. The Bucs had no run game last year. And Joe is not sold (yet) on White. Joe has to see more than just one dominant game on Bavarian soil to buy in that White is the next Warrick Dunn.

Bucs like the Eagle and many other NFL teams do not value a high draft pick in a running back.
Kay is wrong on this one. The left tackle spot is more important for a team wanting to be good.

He is a player and top 5 talent. All this talk about running backs late is a bit exaggerated. If it were true we would of had our pro bowl or all pro running backs. Always draft BPA, that’s been our flaws in drafting need over BPA. Bijan would be great for us for the next 5 years and pair him with Caleb or Drake in the future. I doubt he’ll be there for us.

Yeah, let’s keep blaming White for our OL woes last season. I repeatedly hear about, even if we had [insert 90s RB here] back there, he would have a hard time running behind that line. Let’s field an average line and then if he doesn’t perform, feel free to bash him. He showed me last year that he has the ability to do good things. Can’t say the line was bad for Brady, but it was fine for the RBs. Our OL was questionable all last year. Oh, and let’s not forget the play caller.

Bijan would have had the exact same stats as White last year in that offense. Exact.
That’s not a dis on Bijan, I think he’s going to be a very good back, but the Bucs already have one of those in White.

Serious question, I’m open to getting new info here, but what is it about Bijan that has people going nuts. Watching his tape, he looks like he’s going to be a very good pro, but people are talking about him like he’s going to be special, and I just don’t see that. His size/speed/explosion combo is worse than White, and while in college Bijan is making some nice power runs, a lot of those aren’t going to happen in the NFL as Bijan isn’t nearly as big as he looks on tape.
If he was Derrick Henry size, I’d get it, since the power/speed combo would be great. But he’s literally smaller than White, and not as quick or explosive, and is only, by 0.01 faster in the 40.
Again, I don’t think Bijan will be a bust, and I think he’ll be probably a top 15 runner pretty quickly, but people saying he’s one of the best players in the draft, I’m just not seeing it. But, again, I’m open to hearing from people who say otherwise as my knowledge about college guys is limited.

No way… too many far greater needs…. that’s the player you go get to put you over the top on way to SB run. And I don’t see him getting out of top 10 especially if he grades equal to or greater than Saquon.

The Bucs have 2 legit starting OL and 3 openings. Remember the others were cut or demoted because the Bucs had the worst rushing attack in the history of the NFL through most of the season.

Without a solid Offensive line you have no offence…don’t matter who’s in the backfield. Both sides of the Buc Trenches are suspect, will be a long season if it’s not improved

Bucs have 3 picks in the Top-150 (#19, #50, #82). After that we get 6 picks in the next 100 or so (#153, #175, #179, #181, #196, #252). Odds on hitting on anything but developmental players in Rnds 5-7 (outside the Top-150) are supposedly quite low. Point being: we need to make our #19, #50 and #82 picks really count, because we don’t have very much money to buy quality starting or key rotational free agents.
Bucs need to draft an Offensive Tackle in Rnds 1-3 (preferably a LT).
Bucs need to draft a Pass Rusher in Rnds 1-3 (DE/OLB).
Bucs need to draft a Defensive Back in Rnds 1-3 (preferably one who can play both Safety and Nickel CB).
Bucs have 2 Rnd 5 picks, but could potentially package each one of them with a Rnd 6 pick to move into Rnd 4 for 2 picks. BPA who’s either a DT or RB or TE or WR (Bucs need all 4).
That’d still leave us with 2 picks (Rnd 6 & Rnd 7) to use on whatever we missed out on with our 2 Rnd 4 picks (after we traded up).

I’m not sold on our backfield. Lenny is gone, and before he left we were already terrible in rushing. With Brady’s departure, we should see a more balanced attack. Bijab Robinson i would not be mad if take him at 19 IF the top tackles are off the board.

Most if not all of the day 3 picks should be trade bait, as in packaged with any of our top 3 picks to get in better position to pick as many players out of the top 100-150 as possible. After pick 82, there is going to be a long wait for Licht and plenty of players on the Bucs board being taken off the board. Just a hunch, but I sincerely doubt Licht is going to just stand by and wait.

Look, guys, I never get too hyped about draft prospects. Why? Because they aren’t drafted to our team yet. Sure, I could drool, wish and want all while fawning over Prospect X, but until he actually lands on the roster, I don’t get too hyped.
I was besides myself with utter GLEE when the Bucs drafted Wirfs, and he’s been all the hype and more.
Too many misses with draft prospects to get overly excited about Player A, B, or C. I just wait until their name is called, then I start to get excited and see what we just landed.
I’m patient, I reckon, because I know if I get stoked about a player, he probably won’t fall to us.
Wait and see, fair-weather fans. Wait and see.

So funny how many posters used to say draft the best player available. Now they want to take the 5th offensive tackle off the board to simply fill a need. If they view Hooker or Bijan as the bpa I say take him. Tackle is a glaring need but we have several more picks after the first one and there is always next years draft to fill some needs too. If you want to be great you don’t do that by reaching for players to simply fill a short term need.

I just can’t see a RB in round 1 or 2 for this team. We can have a good running game with Ra White and Vaughn. And we can’t win if we don’t find a LT and pass rushers. I’d even take a TE before a RB with the current state of our roster.

I remember when Emmitt Smith came out of Florida many said he was too small and slow for the NFL. Which was true. But sometimes size and speed aren’t everything. He’s the NFL’s leading rusher of all time.

Dooley … Over the years, Licht has had pretty good luck in Rnd 4 IMO … Otton, Camarda, Nelson, Whitehead, Kwon out of 7 picks in Rnd 4 since 2014. Darden was a 4th Rnd pick (not a fan favorite) and so was Ryan Smith (he did give us some good S/Ts work). Prior to 2014 we grabbed Gholston in Rnd 4 (2013), Luke Stocker (2011) and Mike Williams (2010). IOW, we done good.
Packaging some lower picks to move up to Rnd 4 (say in the Top 150) could get us 1 or 2 contributors for this year. Of course, you still have to find a dance partner.

1. ILB (to replace White who wants out and to be traded to Buffalo or Eagles (hope not the Eagles since their GM fleeces everyone) is #1 priority
2. OT If Wirfs can play LOT then ROT is a need to replace Donovan Smith
3. EDGE is a need with Shaq Barret questionable and it was weak last year.
4. S is still a need as Ryan Neal replaces Keanu Neal but need to replace Mike Edwards and Logan Ryan (hope Logan Ryan is resigned as a FA)
5. CB is a need to replace Sean Murohy Bunting in the slot CB
6. WR a late round depth player special teamer could have a roster shot
G is not a need and should be OK with Nick Leveritt, Robert Hainsey, Luke Goedecke and Aaron Stinnie to chose 2 from
RB if someone great slips to the Bucs – not sure that guy is Bijan Robinson
QB if Hendon Hooker slips to the 3rd round, maybe worth a shot

He really didn’t have that rep at all, in fact most of stuff I read at the time speculated the Bucs would take him at #4 overall. Then, a couple of days before the draft, the Bucs traded for Gary Anderson. To add to not taking Emmitt, from what I read, the Bucs were set on taking Junior Seau, then he said don’t waste the pick, that he’d never play in Tampa. This, coming only a few years after the Bucs took Bo Jackson #1 overall, only to see him sit out and not sign a contract, well, the Bucs skipped on Seau as well. So instead of Emmitt Smith or Junior Seau, the Bucs took Keith McCants.

No organization worth a darn would draft a running back in rd 1. Never, ever. The game has changed. All the rules and style of play is geared towards passing. The first round should be OL or DL almost every single year

Crunch – So I went back and watched yet another highlight reel on Bijan, this one is 30-mins, pretty much every good play he’s made in his college career (I skipped the ones I’ve already seen), and I do not see any comparison with Barry Sanders, they’re not even the same type of RB in my opinion.
Here’s my take:
He has an elite cutback / dead leg combo, that’s is going to get him a lot of yards in the NFL.
He’s got great hands.
His speed and explosiveness is good, not great.
His power in college looks top notch, but at his size/weight, I don’t think a lot of his broken tackles are going to happen in the NFL. I think he’ll still be good here, just not great or elite, but better than average.
Again, I think he’s going to be a very good NFL RB, and he’s a guy that can get you 1500 yards rushing and another 700 yards receiving. But I also think Rachaad White can get those same numbers, and because of that, I’m spending my 1st rounder somewhere else.
with all of that said, I’m not going to pout if they take him. Getting a new toy is always exciting, but I’d much rather get another WR if we’re taking luxury picks. A #4 WR who can grow into becoming a future #2 or #1, would be huge, since WRs tend to take a while to develop. Meanwhile RB’s are a dime a dozen, even really good ones, like the one the Bucs rode to the SB, who they paid nothing for.

Everyone talks about Bij 1580 yards on the ground like he doesn’t sh!t on Raschad White with 19 rec 314 yards 2 TD last year. Bucs need to rebuild and this guy has ability to dominate in NFL. If we pass, people will be saying “and we could of had Dalvin Cook”

Hey Guys you’re right about Emmitt but remember the O-line he started to run behind? His natural ability was augmented by a tremendous line for years. If Robinson is comparable to Barkley that’s a good person to compare to. Again BPA is almost always best way to go unless need and BPA meet. But that is why they have draft boards to see who their BPA is left and then the fits.

Take best OL available at 19. The RB draft is super deep. If we are lucky and Tyjea Spears is there in the 3rd take him. Him + White sharing carries is as good as any 1 work horse back.
