“Tom Brady May Not Be Done After All”

March 7th, 2023

It didn’t take long for a respected big name to throw gas on the Tom-Brady-wants-to-keep-playing flames.

The voice of NFL Network, Rich Eisen, went there yesterday as he named his top-5 rumors, those he assessed to have the most credibility, heard at the NFL Scouting Combine last week.

Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, Eisen pleaded with his audience to recognize that he doesn’t traffic in rumors and stays away from them on his weekday show. But he was sharing these rumors because he was surrounded by NFL chatter daily into the wee hours in Indianapolis, and they were most impactful and nearly all these rumors were brought to Eisen by multiple sources.

No. 1 on Eisen’s list was a Brady return to the NFL in 2023, most likely to the Dolphins if the team can’t get a confident medical clearance on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Eisen said he was in disbelief upon hearing that he should keep an eye on Brady letting the free agent market play out to assess opportunities that would suit him. “Tom Brady may not be done after all … I’m like, ‘he’s Instagramming out videos of his cat,’ Eisen said of his initial reaction.

For those residing in a cave the past two months, Brady retired, moved to Miami near two of his children, and adopted a pair of kittens.

Joe’s interest here is in Brady wanting to keep playing. If that’s the case, then there’s a chance he returns to the Bucs. And Joe has no doubt the team would take him with open arms — and wallets.

No matter what happen – put TB in the review mirror and move forward – we saw the decline and the effects of his divorce on his performance.

  2. Winky Says:

    Do your thing, Brady.

  3. Onetrickpony Says:

Don’t worry he is not coming back to Bowles cluster F

  4. D-Rok Says:

At this rate, Brady will still be playing at 55.

Last year, he was retired for 40 days. Will it be 80 days this year? And next year, 120 days? Is it an additive sum of 40 days of retirement per year, or will it be multiples of 40? Play, retire, think, unretire, rinse, repeat. For 10 more years.

Sorry, but I very much enjoyed Statistics in college and aced it. My analytical mind is pondering how precise his retirement pattern will be.

    LOL!!!!

In all seriousness, until Brady says he is playing, he aint playing, and I aint pondering it anymore.

  5. Jvato24 Says:

The Dolphins are a much better team with a better coaching staff, he’s not coming to a team even worse than last year. Let it go. But if this were to happen, and he signed for 25 million, the Bucs would get as high as a 3rd round comp pick if he went to dolphins, So everyone should hope this happens.

  6. Rover Says:

God Speed in your next ventures, Brady. We had a good 2 year run in Tampa. All good things must end and we made peace with the ending.

  7. NEfan Says:

Please go to Miami, with a real coaching staff. Also heard Jets maybe front runners for Roger’s. That would make the AFC East brutal, Brady, Allen, Roger’s? Bye bye Patriots.

  8. NEfan Says:

It appears he finally sought out some new pu#$y!

  9. Marine Buc Says:

Tom Brady should walk away from the game while he can still walk…

His level of play has certainly declined over the past few years and he is the most immobile QB in the NFL.

    Buyer beware.

  10. Winny Testaverde Says:

He’s only done with The Bucs…he had to declare retired so people would leave him alone in the meantime. 🐬

  11. Allbuccedup Says:

Jvato24 Licht needs to calling the dolphins and really enforce what Brady brings to a team. We are already in line for 3 comp picks could always use another. If we don’t trade away any 2024 draft picks we could be loaded with picks next year.

  12. Jeff’s grandpa Says:

This is Jenna Laine quality of a article nothing but rumors

  13. BucsFanSince1996 Says:

Last season his off-field issues screwed up his head badly, his o-line had some issues, and he had no running game.

I have no doubt that Brady is still capable of playing at an elite level. He needs a strong offensive line, a running game, and some quality WRs/TEs. But if he’s got that then he can take another team to the promised land.

That so many people believe that father time finally caught up with him is probably a major motivating factor making him want to come back. LOL

  14. Aceofaerospace Says:

I just can’t even think of this possibility. I’ll wait to be shocked. Until then, give Trask a chance.

  15. Ugotrobbed Says:

Bowels would be the reason he would NOT return to the Bucs!

  16. D-Rok Says:

In other QB news, Geno Smith just resigned with the Seahawks. I guess them Hawks think Smith is their guy at 3yrs, 100m. Scratch Carr and Smith off our wish-list, LOL.

  17. Nicky666 Says:

Let. It. Go. We gotta move on guys – he’s not coming back.

  18. HC Grover Says:

Bowzo ran him off. No good player wants on a Bowzo team and the ones here want to get away.

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

It would surprise me if Brady plays again……..to unretire twice would make him somewhat of a joke…..and I believe Brady is too much enamored with his reputation than to tarnish it substantially.

  20. Rick Says:

    NOOOOO

  21. sasquatch Says:

    Don’t care. We’ve moved on.

  22. Jack Sparrow Says:

Bucs is in Brady’s rear view mirror…. if he decides to continue playing, he will be moving to a much better place.

  23. ABucAway Says:

Imo, Whether he wants to admit it or not, he is done.

  24. NEfan Says:

Running out of options Bucs fans, I say Brissett or Mayfield both $12-$ 15m maybe less. Banking on Trask is a huge risk that can really set the Bucs back. You still have to give a reason for players to come to Tampa other than a tax break, especially with Blows as your HC.

  25. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

He’ll stay retired. This is pure media hype during a down period.

That said, except for the cap issues, I would take Brady as QB again. His down year last year was due to injuries to his players.

It would be nice to se him resign and break up that cap hit though. Even if he retires soon after.

  26. Buc4evr Says:

Thanks TB12, now go away. BTW how did the Saints sign Carr for $150M, of which it is reported that $100M is guaranteed? Crazy.

  27. YucsBall Says:

I’d take TB12 back no problem

  28. Da Bucs Guy Says:

TB12 did not want to play for Tampa last year.

  29. Oneilbuc Says:

Brady already filed his retirement paperwork !! He’s done and I don’t want see or hear no more scapegoats. At this point the only thing he’s good for is getting OC fired.

  30. Rod Munch Says:

I love these dramaqueen ‘fans’ who fake a bunch of a drama about how they can’t take all the drama.

In any case he’s not unretiring, no way he’d do that again. He’s got too much pride to take the PR hit.

Then, even if he did come back, he’s a free agent and would end up in San Fran or Miami, not in Tampa. He’s not coming out of retirement again to play for Todd Bowles. Heck, Martín Gramática isn’t coming out of retirement to play for Todd Bowles. You’ll see a week from now, when all our free agents flee the team how much players want to play for Todd Bowles.

  31. Bucs56 Says:

He isn’t coming back. Nothing has changed since he retired. Tua was more concussed last month. He is done and using weekends in fall to watch Jack play football. He also doesn’t have the commitment to learn a new system and team.

  32. NEfan Says:

Rod, in a heart beat if the Miami gig presented itself. He saw the forest through the trees with Tampa and tried to get out but Licht and BA wouldn’t let him go, yet BA quit on the team. Oneilsuckyall, Brady is only good for getting a horrible incompetent coach fired? Sorry that was Bliws and obviously the right thing to do since he still hasn’t got a job. Does your local high school need a.head coach? BL is available.

  33. Darin Says:

I can’t see him playing for bowles anymore. He has to be sure he has a shot at the trophy if he plays. Ain’t with this clown show

  34. pewter941 Says:

If he goes to miami we should get compensation for tampering

  35. Conte Piscatelli Says:

It only interests me in the fact that Brady is currently under contract with Tampa. So if he wants to play for Miami that means the Bucs have leverage. Even if that means making Brady restructure his contract to make it more cap friendly before he goes.

Rod, in a heart beat if the Miami gig presented itself.

    ————

Miami would throw that useless injury prone game manager QB they have out of the building if Brady so much as gave them a wink and a nod. But he’s not coming back.

  37. BucsFan81 Says:

He is not coming back to Tampa Joe get over it. Miami has a way better chance of going to a Super Bowl. On top of that they have a better roster with a hell of head coach that knows how to call plays in the NFL.

  38. DungyDance Says:

“For those residing in a cave the past two months, Brady retired, moved to Miami near two of his children, and adopted a pair of kittens.”

If life outside “a cave” means knowing about Instagram posts involving kittens, then I’ll happily stay secluded in my cave. And please somebody roll a big bolder in front of the entrance, just in case.

  39. optimisticbucfan Says:

    Would anyone be surprised?

The team was a mess last year.

    Brady had enough.

  40. DungyDance Says:

    *boulder

  41. Redeemer Says:

I believe Brady when he said it’s for good. He would look like a total clown if he came back. Venturing into Brett Farve territory. It would diminish his legacy in my eyes. But, the fanboy in me would love for him to go after one more ring. Is that selfish? Damn rights. I have little doubt he could get Miami to the divisional round. They have competent coaches and a very good roster. It won’t happen though. He’s done. Start collecting on that 375 million next year
I do think it’s a little strange that he wouldn’t commit to the booth this season

  42. Jerry Says:

If Brady un-retires again, he’s going to look as stupid as Favre did.

You are going to be 46, Tom. Turn the page while you are still healthy.

  43. NEfan Says:

Conte, the Bucs have no rights to Brady, he is a free agent. They owe him the $35 M because he pushed out his contract so the Bucs could sign other FA’s.

  44. Jeff’s grandpa Says:

    Brady’s butt boy here daily

  45. NEfan Says:

Don’t worry Jeff don’t, know who hos grandpa is@ once Brady goes to Miami, I am out.

  46. sasquatch Says:

Doesn’t matter. He would not be an option for us anymore even if he did come back. Don’t care, we’ve moved on. A new era is beginning. Time to pay the fiddler.

  47. Mike Johnson Says:

If Brady comes back, he’s undoubtedly dumber than I thought. He must have a desire to be..carted off the field. His time has come and gone

  48. brooks Says:

    Who cares

  49. TBfan Says:

None of you remember that Brady said just a few weeks ago if he came back to football there was one place he was coming back too… and that’s Tampa.. Brady’s coming back boys for 23 you can say who cares all you want.. He instantly makes them The best team in the South. Carr has always been trash and he always will be

  50. Buccos Says:

Yes Joe did report that Brady said he would only come back to Tampa. I would take him back for one more year. I can’t get that last Carolina game out of my mind. Three long bombs to Mike Evans. Hitting him perfectly in stride. One of them was 60 yards in the air. He can still sling it

  51. View from 132 Says:

    WHO CARES.

  52. cmurda Says:

Brady has already shot down the rumors. Why woould he want to ruin his legacy by getting walloped in Miami. He said he would retire when he sucks and that’s exactly what he did. He’s the GOAT and I feel lucky to enjoy the previous years of excellence.

  53. stpetebucfan Says:

“to unretire twice would make him somewhat of a joke….”

Not as big of a joke as if he unretired and repeated his on field performance of last year! He’s done! Stick a fork in him. He will always be the GOAT but again he’s fallen a long way from the GRN..Greatest Right Now.

  54. NEfan Says:

Haha an offensive line and Hill & Waddle and a RB that actually gets yeards, dream come true.

  55. unbelievable Says:

Brady responded on Twitter that his hands are full with his daughter and her cats lol.

  56. Cobraboy Says:

How to destroy personal credibility as the GOAST: unretire twice.

IMO, he’s done, and his fear of taking a sack last season showed it.

The last thing he wants is humiliation.

  57. Thadeus Says:

Now that you got that cheating Ho out of the way, put on 30 pounds with some serious weight training and come to San Fran !!
