Rex Ryan Is Thinking Outside The Box

January 31st, 2023

Well, this is different.

The Capt. Lou Albano of NFL coaches, Rex Ryan, is doing overtime over at the four-letter. And Joe has to give him props for being creative.

Ryan seems to have figured out where Tom Brady lands this offseason, if he doesn’t retire.

No, Ryan said, it’s not the Bucs. It’s not the Dolphins or the Raiders, either. And it’s not the 49ers

Ryan said don’t freak out if Brady ends up in our nation’s capital and plays for the WTF — with Sean Payton as the coach.

Now why would these two want to work for Dan Snyder? Ryan said they won’t. The team will be sold, Ryan claims, and new ownership will want to put its stamp on the team and that does not include Carson Wentz and Ron Rivera.

There are several stumbling blocks to this. First, if Brady plays next year he wants more than one special target. Pro Bowler Terry McLaurin is about all WTF has.

Besides, WTF is a last-place team in a division where three teams made the playoffs and one is still playing. Do you really think Brady wants to go there?

Joe gives Ryan credit for thinking outside the box. But a guess  needs substance to make it believable.

    This is silly.

  2. Joe in Michigan Says:

Maybe if Bezos had already bought the team, and it was a fresh start there for everyone involved. So, no.

  3. lambchop Says:

This is lazy. Let me wake up half-asleep before I have to get ready for my television gig and concoct the most ridiculous thing possible to be a contrarian.

How these people have a job is anyone’s guess. No wonder BSPN had to fire so many people. They’re paying people for this kind of analysis.

  4. BucsfanFred Says:

WTFootball team is that dildo smoking????

  5. Defense Rules Says:

Sorry Rex, dumb take. Better off sticking in the box than wandering in outer space.

  6. ModHairKen Says:

That’s just dumb. Sales take time. Hiring new people takes time. He thinks all of that will occur before silly season – coaching carousel, scouting, free agency and the draft?

Go look at some feet, Ryan. Leave the football discussions to others.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Total BS

  8. Hodad Says:

I had to roll my eyes twice. The first time when I heard Ryan say it, and now that Joe had to print what that tool said. We hire an O.C. yet?

  9. Jeff’s grandpa Says:

    Waste of time and words

  10. Paratrooper Buc Says:

Brady will go to 49ers. Brock Purdy has complete UCL tear and it’s 6-12 month recovery. He would love playing for them and they would be crazy not to have him for 1 year. And if he talked Gronk into joining…

  11. Faspro Says:

    Bwwahahaha!!!

  12. TampaBayBucsFanSince1976 Says:

Ryan has been head bumping too many people that wear helmets……….

  13. WillieG Says:

I’m surprised Jerry Jones isn’t cleaning house to make way for Peyton and Brady.

  14. zzbuc Says:

To be honest with you I couldn’t care less what this damma@@ has to say

  15. Marine Buc Says:

    No…

There is “thinking outside the box” and there is “saying stupid things to hear yourself speak”.

Rex Ryan is saying stupid things to hear himself speak.

The Redskins are a mess – possibly a bigger mess than the Bucs are… Not so much with the salary cap but the lack of talent on that offense.

  16. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Tom should go to Nashville that is a team that needs a QB and is Super Bowl ready with a great running game and defense and excellent coach

  17. TheBucsAnthem Says:

This is why Rex Ryan is not a HC in the NFL anymore…..he says some of the stupidest stuff on sports TV

    ……….pie the sky nonsense

  18. D-Rok Says:

They’ll always be the Redskins to me.

  19. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

D-Rok 100% they are the Redskins

  20. lambchop Says:

    @ParatrooperBuc,

Only if he has Tommy John surgery. He’s talking to docs to consider not going under the knife. In that case, they said he can throw as early as 3 months.

The Brady to 49ers fantasy has sailed. They whiffed on the opportunity 3 years ago.

It’s just a touchy feely story that a lot of people in the media want.

  21. lambchop Says:

The title of this article should have been, Rex Ryan is Inhaling Inside the Box.

  22. sasquatch Says:

    Oh another Brady rumor?!

Great, just can’t get enough of this BS.

And let’s be real clear… This is ALL BS. It’s just the NFL speculation industrial complex.

Does anyone actually enjoy following every new bit of Brady speculation, much of it base 99% on nothing at all?

  23. Brandon Says:

But bringing in an over the hill has been player would be such a Snyder thing to do. I think the chances are better that Brady joins Washington if Snyder is still there.

  24. John Says:

This is genius. They have a good defense that can shut ppl down. They have a lot more than just scary terry. Jahan Dotson,Brian Robinson,Antonio Gibson. A lot of young guys that are super talented and just need a couple pieces to complete the puzzle. I assume he could get a couple free agents to come with him but he needs to pick better. I’ve been saying this all along. A new owner would absolutely take on Brady and give him they keys. Watch out for this one for real.

    ^^^^^^^
Right, but those guys won’t go there with Snyder as owner, IMHO.

  26. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I don’t know if Brady will even play this year…but if he does, it will likely be for the Buccaneers. I mean, his ex-wife bought a home down the street from him. He’s committed to living in Tampa.

Miami has pulled out of the sweepstakes, probably because he told them no in private.

    Jacksonville doesn’t need him.

So is he doesn’t retire, it’s Tampa.

And yes, that’s guessing…but so is EVERY rumor out there.

Seriously, can Tampa Bay Blogs stop rotating around planet TB12? We’re sick of “What’s TB12 doing next?” There are 51 other players, coaches, FA, and the draft. Let’s give it a break and focus on more interesting topics …

    1. Offensive Coordinator
    2. Does Bowles make it past year 2? How did he survive year 1?
    3. Does Licht survive another Bowles year?
    4. What do the Bucs do with a disgruntled BA?
    5. Looking at how the Bucs work the cap the last two years, who will they realistically resign?
    6. What are the biggest offseason needs?
    7. How can they repair the OL? WTF is wrong with Smith?
    8. Is Goedeke the future at RT?
    9. They can cut Jensen? is Hainsey ready to take over?
    10. Is Trask worth a shot? If not, does that predict his future as a backup?
    11. Who’s the breakout performers of 2023? (JTS, Hall, White)
    12. 2022 FA were some of this year’s unsung heroes
    13. Winfield injury issues continue to mount. Can he hold up?
    14. Vea as a pash rusher got a whole lot better.

  29. adam from ny Says:

    yeahhhhhhhhhhh…

and they hire gruden as the gm too

  30. Your Mom Says:

They also have the worst attendance and most desire for cash, which is what Brady would fix. And it’s between NYC and Miami.

But they may end up being the only team on a short list that wants him that would still be within his money and geographic conditions.

  31. RumDude Says:

Rex Ryan has been bleaching his teeth so much it’s affected his brain.

  32. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Is this the same Rex Ryan who is in a viral video kissing his wife’s toes/feet?
But Tom Brady and Sean Peyton to the WFT would instantly make them competitive with all the talent on Defense.
Especially if Gronk joins the party!
The 49ers are intriguing too, imagine Brady with Gronk AND George Kittle to boot!
Still, IMHO, the Eagles are so dominate that the 49ers even WITH Brady will not beat them.

I read that Andy Reid once FIRED Nick Sirianni when he was the Eagles Coach!
So watch the Eagles punish the Chiefs and Andy Reid as payback!
IMHO, the 49ers are a better team than the Chiefs, and look at what the Eagles did to them ?

I got hit with the duplicate content filter, again! So this is what I have to do to be able to post. I have to add to the rejected post, to get around the filter.

Yeah. Joe’s not going to write about the team’s most important player who also happens to be the league’s most high-profile player.

It helps to realize this place is a business, not a charity.
