Rondé Barber Isn’t 100 Percent Sure Todd Bowles Returns, Says Bucs Might Be Better Off Moving On From Tom Brady
January 18th, 2023Joe pays close attention when Rondé Barber talks Bucs because he’s a man with ownership access at One Buc Palace and is tight with general manager Jason Licht, and he works for the club calling preseason games and is part of its in-house media team year-round.
So Joe’s eyes opened wide when Barber jumped on The33rdTeam.com yesterday and spoke as if it’s not guaranteed that Todd Bowles is the Bucs’ head coach for the 2023 season.
Barber even said Tom Brady may not the best on-field fit for the team and a Bucs-Brady breakup could be a mutual divorce.
“… And I’m not sure that they really should keep Tom,” Barber said of Brady. “I think this team is at a point where they’re going to let him make the decision. Obviously, it’s Tom Brady, he can make the decision. But this team probably is looking to evolve a little bit away from what they have once been. So I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s somewhat of a mutual parting if he is not here in the 2023-2024 season. So I would guess that Todd Bowles is back in 2023; I think they gave a lot of autonomy to him with the staff that was already here with Bruce Arians over the past couple of years. But I bet you they give Todd another opportunity. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make some adjustments to the staff. They’ve had some issues across the board, but I know during the middle of the season they had all the faith in Todd to bring them what were some struggles earlier in the year …
“… It’ll be interesting to see what kind of influence you can put on a Todd Bowles because his defense needs to get better. You know, they need to draft a couple of players on that side of the ball. His offensive line needs to get healthy, right, he needs to maybe sign one player on that side of the ball as well. So do you want to bring in a new coach and start completely over, or do you want to let the pieces lie as they are and just add some key components and see if he can get this team back to a higher level of competition. Because it certainly wasn’t there the entirety of this year. …”
Barber concluded his comments about a Bowles return with. “I think they probably stick with him for another year.”
It’s quite stunning that a guy with Barber’s access publicly is expressing a shred of uncertainty that Bowles will continue as head coach.
As for moving on from Brady, Joe knows a sect of fans believes the Bucs would have had a better offense this season with various quarterbacks not named Brady. So that Barber take is not surprising.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:35 pm
Fingers crossed
Say Ronde is football and business smart enough to be the Bucs GM
Clean house!
Licht on down!
January 18th, 2023 at 2:35 pm
Keep Brady and make Eric Beiniemy our HC!!!!
January 18th, 2023 at 2:36 pm
I support whatever Tom Brady wants. He’s earned that, unless he wants leftwich back, then I would have to question everything. Fire all the coaches.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:38 pm
For God sake please make Todd Bowels our last defensive minded head coach for a long long long time
January 18th, 2023 at 2:38 pm
Bruh that’s kind of a misleading headline. Bruh, there’s nothing misleading about it. Barber is at team headquarters every week and is tight with ownership and the GM, and he has a little doubt that Bowles comes back? That’s significant. Barber isn’t a hot-take blabbermouth who doesn’t understand the influence of his words. Other first-year coaches have had public blessings of Year 2 from team officials. Bowles hasn’t gotten that from what Joe has seen. Heck, Joe even believes Bowles is 100 percent back.–Joe He said yeah they probably stick with them because he doesn’t know with 100% certainty. Nothing is certain, I can see them moving on if he is adamant about bringing in another trash coordinator to replace the trash we have now
January 18th, 2023 at 2:40 pm
If Bowles is here and BA is in the office? I don’t think they look for a QB. It will be Trask and Gabbert comes back. And right now I don’t see Leftnut leaving.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:40 pm
Ronde probably doesn’t want to get in the fray. But for him to float the possibility of moving on just means to me, that we aren’t being unreasonable guys that are postulating that maybe we should move on and start over with a new coaching staff. For those that want to douse Lichts Light, sorry. Doesn’t look like it.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:41 pm
Donald Trump for GM

January 18th, 2023 at 2:43 pm
Jack…KC certainly has it going on offensively. I just don’t know if it is Eric Beiniemy or that wily old Coach Andy Reid that is really making it happen.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:44 pm
With Bowles still the blundering head coach here and the OC, whoever it may be running Bowles’ version of offense, why in the world would Brady want to come back and play here again?
January 18th, 2023 at 2:44 pm
Bring Brady back, solidify Offensive line, add/trade some real talent in defense (bucs currently have the overrated ones) and Fire Bowles and Leftnut. Hire coaches that have the ablity to maximize the weapons at his disposal and not because of some box you need to check.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:45 pm
Bring back Monken!!!!
January 18th, 2023 at 2:47 pm
Interesting stuff from Barber being as he’s on the payroll.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:47 pm
oh and please…
FIRE BYRON & BOWELS!
January 18th, 2023 at 2:49 pm
Tom is a good quarterback there is a question if he is still elite or not there has been a drop off and you have to invest so heavily in the oline because of how immobile he is. Think this really blows the Joe’s mind on how this divorce would be mutual if it happens but I kinda agree that the team needs to evolve.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:49 pm
Go after Sean Payton…if Carolina can do it, why not the Bucs?
January 18th, 2023 at 2:50 pm
Ronde for gm
January 18th, 2023 at 2:50 pm
Honestly if Jason want to keep his job he better shop for replacement and refill the roster with hungry players
January 18th, 2023 at 2:52 pm
And let the record stand that all those Arians haters (you know how you are) who claimed that any head coach could win with Brady… nope. Arians was a true leader of men. It doesn’t matter if we like what he says.
He was able to get through to these young millionaire players and they actually listened. That’s the one quality most NFL head coaches don’t have, and it’s the most important.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:54 pm
Lastly, Licht’s a bada$$ and isn’t going anywhere. GM’s don’t call plays and don’t get the players to buy in or execute.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:56 pm
That wily old Sean Payton. You have to keep an eye open when you are sleeping with those ex-EIU guys around.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:56 pm
I agree. I am thankful for Tom Brady’s time hear but I think it is time for a change.
If Brady plays next season it will be with a more complete and “win-now” ready team like Miami or Las Vegas.
The Bucs window has officially closed and the only reason Brady would return to the Bucs is if all the other more optimal situations don’t work out.
The trend with the Bucs is down… The trend in Miami and Vegas are up.
Even Brady can read those charts regardless of his investment in FTX (OOOOPS) he still knows when it’s time to sell.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:58 pm
Brady is going to be a Tee Vee star. Season tix are already sold. Glazers will take the EZ road and fire nobody.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:59 pm
I don’t buy the idea that if we jettison Bowles the Bucs are starting over. On the other hand, I do agree with Barber’s take that we need to make a few adjustments on the defensive and offensive sides of the ball. A pass rusher would be great, as well as offensive line depth (or an offensive tackle to replace Smith). A coaching regime change might be what the Bucs need. I don’t know what the Bucs accomplish by bringing Bowles back for another year other than to extend to him the same courtesy they extended to other coaches. That is all sweet and nice, but sports is about winning and Bowles does not (and will not) make the Bucs winner.
January 18th, 2023 at 2:59 pm
Jack – Eric Bienemy has had several HC interviews at this point and hasn’t landed a job yet. I think its safe to say he doesn’t have a solid plan or interviews really bad. Additionally Mahomes could make ANY OC look amazing.
I am more than a little concerned that no staff moves have been made yet. Are they waiting until all the decent OC’s are hired?
January 18th, 2023 at 3:00 pm
lol.
here… not hear.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:00 pm
I’m a huge Todd monkey fan, he’s the reason for the fitzmagic beard phase we had going on in Tampa
January 18th, 2023 at 3:01 pm
Seems like a pretty reasonable take from Ronde.
The reality is Bowles didn’t get to pick any of his staff, so the Glazers will probably give him another year with some coaching changes…
But my biggest issue with Bowles is that I just think he is in over his head as head coach. He does not seem to be a good overall manager, or a good motivator. Seems too easy for guys to just tune him out. He coaches cowardly and stubbornly. Way too many timeouts and points left on the board, only to finally show some aggression in the worst of situations (fake punt against Cinci with a big lead, punting on 4th early in the game vs cowboys, and then NOT taking points later in the game when we needed a FG).
Would be happy with him being DC (even though his defense was absolutely pathetic against the Cowboys), but he’s not going to take a demotion.
The pass rush is way too inconsistent, which could perhaps be solved by adding players. But then I also see guys like Mike Edwards, Antoine Winfield and Devin White seemingly regress in their ability. THAT IS A PROBLEM.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:02 pm
Brady is retiring, but no bucs team is better without him. What he does for player recruitment alone is worth every cent. Don’t forget glazer ticket sales. BL and oline mess was the issue. An average offense wins 12 games. Licht couldn’t do anything about marpet retirement and Bengals overpaying cappa. He gets Shaq Mason for a low 4th rounder with stinnie set for the other guard and 2 low cost 2nd day picks for depth (hansey and goedeke) with wells. Good plan that tanked when Jensen and stinnie get hurt.
Trask is a pocket passer so when brady retires your best bet is draft him a young receiver or TE and get a new OC. Frank Reich or somebody that can work with young QBs.i would go after Billy Obrien.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:03 pm
I read Barber say he thinks Todd Blowes will be back. I don’t get any doubt at all about that from Ronde. Brady, yeah, I get doubt and that maybe moving on would be healthy long term, but not with Trashk or Goobert. So it needs to be another door number 2.
Anyone available as a free agent is going to come with plenty of questions, not the least of which is, do we have to look at Leftwurst’s stupid drooling mug call the same plays and the same route trees over and over and over again, or will it be someone fresh, new and creative? That will influence the QB that decides to sign here.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:06 pm
Unless they change the entire offense, I agree with barber. The bucs offense is reliant on winning individual matchups. That was fine when someone was always open the last two years. Brady can still decipher coverage and find the open guy with the best of em. The biggest problem on offense was the fact they couldn’t get quick separation. They also couldn’t protect for the longer routes to develop. A historically bad run game made everything worse. The TE positions eradication from the offense was another glaring problem. I don’t see how it gets much better with Brady here, unless they run his traditional offense. That means fullback, scrap zone blocking and hire a coordinator he’s familiar with. It would be a tremendous burden on everyone but Brady.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:06 pm
Guys. Most of the really good OC’s you dream of won’t come here, with Bowles on thin ice and it very possibly being a one year gig. Sorry to break it to you. But would you?
January 18th, 2023 at 3:07 pm
And without Brady, no established QB in the room? Really. If you were one of the top OC’s would you?
January 18th, 2023 at 3:08 pm
Ronde has a better idea of the Glazers than JBF…as JBF and many here seem to think the Glazers care much about next year, until it’s time to get the squeeze out of next year. I will explain. They have gotten all the juice out of this year…division, playoffs, etc. And they have gotten all the juice out of Brady. He is done. They have already gotten fans to renew who are going to renew until next July. That deadline has passed. Brady will move one, and there will be talk about new QBs, and the draft to try to get fans excited. There will be direction to JL to create a splash in the draft to get tickets moving. It will be about FA QBs, and draft posture. They can do this with or without Todd Bowles, unfortunately. Sadly, it is best for THEM to keep Bowles. So they keep him another year at least. Sure, let Todd change his coordinators. That can help sell some tickets but it will only pull those fans in who are on the fence. Best, it keeps the Glazers from taking media hits about firing a black coach before giving him the full range of changes. But reaaly, a new coach will not sell tickets right now. So they need a truly abysmal year before they fire a head coach. Another little piece of info: They fired Gruden because THEY didn’t like him. It had nothing to do with the fans. When you think Glazers…always think of where (and WHEN) they can get the most squeeze. They already raised prices, and got their stadium name deal renewed, and stadium update projects done. It’s not about winning alone. Period. They cannot be happier than where they are right now. For Bucs fans, that sucks.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:10 pm
Bucs56, he isn’t returning or retiring. He needs a complete team that needs a QB to go over the top.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:12 pm
Sell the team!
January 18th, 2023 at 3:13 pm
Seems to me if they can’t get a top notch OC to come in, one who would be someone that knows and really believes in Bowles enough to risk his career, or they may have no choice but to move on from Lefty and Bowles.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:15 pm
Nothing does that better than Brady. So you shot yourself in the foot claiming the Glazers want to move on from Brady because they want to gin up excitement for ticket sales.
You know what is even more important than selling tickets? Luxury boxes and corporate advertising. Those folks love Tom Brady. And the Glazers know that very, very well.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:15 pm
Ronde says bring Todd back instead of a fresh start…that’d be fine if that was just his first year and the team was built for SB or bust…but that’s Todd’s 5th year as a head coach and a losing record, & even in the patient old days that’d get you run. Anybody REALLY think this team is going anywhere, especially in a rebuild, with Todd Bowles? You need a Bill O’Brien keep it going move or the non-BA Crew fresh start NOW.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:16 pm
If the team *wasn’t built to be SB or bust, but it is.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:16 pm
I would be ok with tom returning only if sean payton is hired and todd bowels fired
January 18th, 2023 at 3:20 pm
You can’t “just move on” from the GOAT. But there is nothing saying the GOAT will want to play here next year. I have absolutely no read on how he really feels… about playing here, playing for Bowles, or whomever might be the potential OC. So there is the other voice in the room. A sticky wicket.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:21 pm
I agree with the guy who said the headline is misleading.
The headline makes me think there’s a little more doubt.
When I read Barber’s actual quote it sounds more certain than not that Bowles is back.
But technically you are correct — Barber isn’t 100% certain… maybe only 99%.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:22 pm
The G’Boyz would have to make Brady a equity owner in the franchise, good for Tom , good for Tom, good for the NFL
I hope the Glazer’s are in the mood, they certainly are shrewd enough business men to pull something like that off. That is Annual owners meeting strutting stuff!
Lol
Anything but giving Bowles another year, he is simply not a NFL head coach, I am sure he is a fine man and understands everything about football, he simply is not a leader.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:25 pm
Yea, Tom needs to ride off into the sunset, thanks for the memories and allat, but this is a young mans game and setting a market for a 46 year old player isn’t ideal considering we lowkey infused a ton of youth into the bottom half of the roster last offseason. The only positive, to bringing Brady back would be extending his contract to kick some of that dead cap hit down the road and correct our cap situation this season. It’ll be interesting to see if Greenberg and the front office use the franchise tag this year
January 18th, 2023 at 3:25 pm
Many feel Bowles should get another year. WHY? Granted Lefty did a poor job as OC. But Bowles ran the dee and look back to the Rams game last year. Brady bailed out the Bucs this year more than our DC / head coach contributing to wins.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:25 pm
Agree with mark 2001 ” Most of the really good OC’s you dream of won’t come here, with Bowles on thin ice and it very possibly being a one year gig.”
January 18th, 2023 at 3:26 pm
Between the divorce, lawsuit and, the rumors that he’ll play else where in 2023 lost the locker room. It’s the only thing I can think of. We went from top 5 offense in the league to flat out one of the worse in the league. Part of me wants to start something different and go to a different qb, if the Bucs can work a deal to get peyton(which I don’t think it’ll happen) but if they can you might have a shot at claiming Lamar or carr who in my opinion still a good qb to have. If brady does come back it’s a 1 year and we better get it done because it’s going to cost us everything
January 18th, 2023 at 3:31 pm
If Brady plays again there’s a real good chance he makes a lot of people eat their words.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:33 pm
Joe speak Truth. Brady sells tickets and boxes, they know it. He’s made the ownership tens of millions by himself. People forgot this is a business like any other.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:33 pm
Goatfarmer, you come up with some pretty creative sarcasm. I especially like the name-mocking.
I think you came up with bowlzo too.
Bowl-zo must go!
I do wanna keep Brady and Licht tho.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:34 pm
Redeemer
Who is the complete team for brady to go to? Forget the fact all 3 kids live on EST and he is willing to not see them for 6 months. Raiders are a complete team? Their defense is terrible and is not a few players away. Oline is suspect and TE always hurt. Carr isnt terrible and he could not win. Not to mention you got KC to get through and no chance to run table as road team in AFC.
Miami is not a complete team on defense and coach may not fit brady. but 2 of 3 kids live there. And unless tua retires they are not paying brady. Jets? 1 kid lives in NY and maybe closest thing to a complete team figuring HC has nothing to do with offense and brady can bring his own guy. But no option is that much better than tampa football wise if we return a healthy oline.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:46 pm
Destinjohnny Says:
Barber for G.M. and Brooks as the head coach.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:49 pm
Donny be surprised if they keep Lefty as well. If not…why is he not fired yet?
January 18th, 2023 at 3:50 pm
If Brady does stay with us (big if) Perhaps Brady can talk Sean Payton into coming to the Bucs? Long shot…. I know.
January 18th, 2023 at 3:54 pm
2002. if you know, you know. GO BUCS!
January 18th, 2023 at 3:55 pm
This bitching is therapeutic!
January 18th, 2023 at 3:56 pm
“the trend in vegas is up” whichever one of you clowns said this is a moron.
Have you seen their defense?
Have you seen their O-line?
Do you know what division they’re in?
Do you know what conference they’re in?
They have a bottom 5 defense all around and their O-line is awful.
Brady isn’t winning crap in the AFC. He isn’t competing against the likes of Mahomes, Allen, and Burrow the new three elite qb’s.
January 18th, 2023 at 4:04 pm
I’m sick of hearing “But Bowles didn’t get to hire his own staff.” No he didn’t. He got to use the one that took them to a superbowl!
January 18th, 2023 at 4:06 pm
Chauncey Gardener has more passion than Todd Bowles
January 18th, 2023 at 4:18 pm
Bucs need to make the decision on whether to reload, or rebuild, then decide if Bowles is the man for the job either way.
January 18th, 2023 at 4:18 pm
Clean house, get out of a bad deal while you can.
January 18th, 2023 at 4:21 pm
Everyone says Brady can’t go to the Raiders because of the Chiefs…who the Raiders lost @ KC to by one point last October. The Raiders lost like 7 one score games. Seem to be a QB and a few defensive players away to me.
January 18th, 2023 at 4:27 pm
Bowles is not NFL head coach material!!!!! FIRE BOWLES and LEFTWICH!!!! That would be a good start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry BA your guys disappoint without you by their side!!!!
January 18th, 2023 at 4:32 pm
Pick up the phone and call Balimore now. Ask them how many picks they want for Lamar, and get it done. He can carry no talent offenses, and his elusiveness would be a plus with the line we currently have. The Goat cannot be replaced by a journeyman, and there is not enough time to groom a young QB with the talent we still have. Brady does have juice in the tank, but we cant buy him top flight Oline talent, more weapons, and expect to have any money to field a defense. No reason to keep Bowles and his staff around unless BA is going to take over the offense. The continuity we were supposed to have with Bowles did not manifest this season, and it would be foolish to expect that situation to improve after 18 games of uninspiring football.
January 18th, 2023 at 4:32 pm
No decent OC will come here with Bowles on the hot-seat, no starting QB, a dumpster fire of an OLine, and looking down the barrel of salary cap hell.
January 18th, 2023 at 4:36 pm
Winny. I think right now they are talking about who is or might be in the ejection seat, and who is out there to replace them. And inquiring to see if they are interested in the job. Some may be guys still coaching, and might not really be available yet. I don’t know. But you don’t just fire someone with out a plan. I don’t blame them for playing it close to the vest right now.
January 18th, 2023 at 4:53 pm
ROFL they already sold this years tickets while the selling was good. How does it feel suckers. U all got played. Pretty smart biz. Bet they knew Brady would be gone and the attraction too. Who would buy tix for this upcoming mess?
January 18th, 2023 at 4:56 pm
Bowles here + Brady gone = WillieG gone
January 18th, 2023 at 4:56 pm
Hey Ronde….it is Brady that is movin on. Come on man.
January 18th, 2023 at 5:05 pm
Bowles and Harold (can’t design a decent run play) Goodwin definitely need to go. Otherwise it’s back to the toilet. No veteran FA (even our own) will want to play here after what was passed off as “football” for 18 weeks this season with these coaches this year with the playoff-caliber roster we had.
Eric Bieniemy would be an experiment, Jim Harbaugh would be instant credibility. Sure, he passed on Denver (not an attractive gig) and said he wants to stay at Michigan but the chance to coach Michigan’s all-time great alum for even one season would be forgiven by their athletic director. And he and TB12 have a great relationship.
He’s a guy who will guide the next QB post-Brady and keep the Bucs in contention and as a choice destination for veteran FAs as well.
Keep Bowles or bring in a nobody and this team goes back to laughingstock land for the foreseeable future. And forget about draft picks. They’re the crypto currency of the NFL. They look bright and shiny and you “hope” they’ll be worth something some day but better to trade them for smart, capable vets. Worked for NE in building a dynasty. Just sayin.
January 18th, 2023 at 5:08 pm
Greg, it’s very possible.
January 18th, 2023 at 5:11 pm
Can anyone name an existing QB that drops back and stays in the pocket? I can’t. That’s not saying there isn’t one but off the top of my head I can’t think of any. Brady is dangerous outside the pocket…in a bad way. His era relied heavily on 5-7 step drops. I can’t help but wonder if defensively knowing he needs more time to set-up in the pocket that you don’t stifle down field passing to force Brady to make quick throws which he can’t not for any other reason but that defenses defend against a different style/mobile quick release QB and when your QB isn’t geared that way, well, he struggles as expected. Dude needs a Berlin Wall for an o-line; a running game to create time downfield, and, a reliable TE and 3rd receiver. If all those exist elsewhere he should go there otherwise I don’t see his style being relevant in today’s game…newsflash the Bucs had all those elements in the 2020 super bowl year.
January 18th, 2023 at 5:20 pm
Fire Licht? Who let the woke democrats on here?
What absolute morons to type that garbage
Microwave brained buffoons
January 18th, 2023 at 5:34 pm
I agree about the mobility issue with Brady. You need to be able to escape a pass rush or move laterally in the pocket. Brady used to be able to do that even though he could never run like the current generation of QB’s do.
He was way too quick on the draw to get the ball out of his hands and that offense was so predictable that every db was compressing the field without any
clear space to find open WRs. The Bucs don’t have enough young and fast offensive talent to catch short passes and get lots of YAC.
Godwin is a blessing but he isn’t a big play guy, at least in this offense.
You need one or two guys that can stretch the field to create voids. No one was able to do it this year.
January 18th, 2023 at 5:44 pm
What he’s really saying is Brady can’t stand LOSER Bowles. I feel bad for you Bucs fan, this is the guy Glazers are hanging their hat on? Even Lamar Jackson can’t run without a oline.
January 18th, 2023 at 5:58 pm
Joe…didn’t shoot myself in the foot. Yes, JL will be told to create a splash. But it won’t be Brady. They have already gotten all the juice out of Brady they will get. The whole last half of the year in fact was all negative on Brady. He won’t sell more tickets than he has. And if you think Brady will be back…well…that will surprise especially him. LOL
January 18th, 2023 at 6:00 pm
Bienemy will never be an NFL Head Coach because of all the off-field baggage he brings.
Or not until Woke and PC are null and void.
Interesting coach with a boatload of baggage.
January 18th, 2023 at 6:14 pm
Cobra I didn’t realize Bienemy had baggage. I must investigate.
January 18th, 2023 at 6:17 pm
Wow I didn’t know he had a rap sheet of assault-type behavior. Looks like the last incident was 2004, but one of the charges was assaulting a woman. Yep, that ain’t gonna fly at the Glazer shed. He’s probably at his apex now.
January 18th, 2023 at 6:21 pm
Have they fired Leftwich yet?
January 18th, 2023 at 6:23 pm
Bienemy would be a good fit in Cleveland.
January 18th, 2023 at 7:54 pm
There’s an argument to be made that we can do better than Brady but who can we even get that is better?
January 18th, 2023 at 8:00 pm
If Brady were to return can the Bucs even “go all in” once more?
If Brady is gone, why not tear down and do a complete rebuild?
If they keep Bowles without Brady what are they trying to do, reload without a complete rebuild?
For each of these three options, where will the franchise be in March of 2025?
January 18th, 2023 at 8:16 pm
Everything about this team was rotten all season and the buck stops with the head coach. Brady’s divorce and Todd’s gutless approach set the tone. How many Bucs players had a good season? Not many at all. Almost all regressed. The talent level has dropped significantly as well. Licht’s drafts since the Superbowl have been dreadful. You just can’t whiff on top picks. JTS, Goedeke, Hall, and Trask have not contributed at all (in a good way). This team needs a new head coach and a total rebuild. I’d be open to trading every player on this team outside of Wirfs and Winfield.

“Bruh, there’s nothing misleading about it.”
Bruh, what you quoted literally says nothing about Bowles not being here. Doesn’t even hint at it. So yeah, it is misleading.

Carr is looking for a team….i know, i know, but until we can draft a star, he might be a decent one for us. We all know Trask is bu at best.
And who knows, Carr in a different city with a different team just might get something going for him.
Use this next draft to build CB and the lines, a LB, and a WR….unless Julio comes in at minimum….even then idk, get one anyway!

A mobile Quarterback could more easily avoid a pass rush and pick up yards that Brady Never could do. Keep the team nucleolus and find a mobile quarterback to keep the chains moving instead of Brady either taking a sack or doing a throwaway.

Some of you deserve what’s coming.

Keeping Bowles means tanking before the season even begins
January 18th, 2023 at 10:45 pm
I’m all in on Jimmy G. I don’t think there’s room for him in San Fran.
January 18th, 2023 at 11:31 pm
Kyle Trask is the future in Tampa. He may even be the present as well

Buccos Says:
January 18th, 2023 at 11:31 pm
Only because he’s cheap and currently the only QB under contract for 2023. Even then, it’s a highly questionable assertion. I don’t think he’s shown anything yet to convincingly say he can be a top-shelf NFL starter.

Barber is good friends with Licht, so saying he’s not sure the Bucs want him back, that’s just a way to spin what is going to be the reality – the reality is there is no way Brady is back.
Again, cap hell is real. This isn’t Gruden making up BS about being in ‘cap hell’ when he’s cutting John Lynch and not resigning Warren Sapp – so he can give big money to Charlie Garner and sign Tim Brown and every injured 35-year old offensive lineman available. No, this is real cap hell. Due to all the void year deals, which is why Licht was able to keep the team together this long, well those void years add up to big numbers in 2023, and you can’t just negotiate and move those around, those are flat out dead cap hits that, best to my knowledge, can not be changed.
For example, with no contract in 2023, David is still going to cost $7m because of his void year deal – and even if he resigns, any new deal is on top of that $7m.
That’s why there is no chance that Brady is back. Even if you managed to resign Brady, you do that only by cutting a bunch of key guys, like Fournette, Donovan Smith, Shaq (all post-June 1st) and you can’t resign anyone either (like Dean).
I don’t see any way the team is better next year if Brady returned, not unless they fire Bowles and Leftwich, anyways.

Get rid of them coaches and keep Brady at least another year?
January 20th, 2023 at 4:59 am
I don’t know the specifics exactly but on McAfee they mentioned a large dead cap hit for Brady that gets avoided if he resigns here otherwise he costs us like $40M in dead cap next year
