Carlton Davis Expects To Play Monday Night

January 10th, 2023

The Buccaneers’ No. 1 cornerback has missed the last two games with a shoulder injury and lots of practice time.

There is no official injury report yet for Monday’s playoff game against the Cowboys, but expect Davis to play.

Joe bases this claim on how Davis was talking during an extended interview yesterday on the Buccaneers Radio Network. It was crystal clear that he has no doubt he will play.

Davis actually shared his stats prediction for the game that a team trainer gave him. And Davis talked about how he loves to play against a team like the Cowboys, his favorite club as a kid.

“They’re going to sling that rock,” Davis said. “They’re going to throw the ball. They’re going to be aggressive; that’s just in their nature. … They have the DNA. Every team has a DNA. ‘We’re going to play Cowboy football. We’re going to be aggressive. We’re going to throw the ball like 40 times and we’re going to live and die by it.”

Davis went on to say teams have dinked and dunked more on the Bucs all season, but he doesn’t expect that from Dallas. The Bucs defense plays much better against an attacking offense, Davis believes, and they’re better playmakers when opponents come after them.

Joe is just happy to hear Davis will return.

Thats good news, but everyone needs to be ready to play!

  3. Easy The Great Says:

He can lock down CeeDee Lamb for the most part and keep Dean on Gallup. He doesnt get the INTs but hes a damn solid corner

  4. bucs4life Says:

It has to be Dean on Lamb. Carlton has to shield bigger receivers, Lamb is a speedster.

  5. Goatfarmer Says:

This is some good news. Only news better is if Jason put Todd Blowes and Bymron Leftardwich on IR.

  6. SOEbuc Says:

Awesome news. Delaney and McCollum starting puts the secondary in shambles.

  7. Pelsbuc61 Says:

    Overrated and overpaid.

    Sigh

Miss the days when players would just show up each an every week.

  9. Buc4evr Says:

We don’t have Shaq to rush Dak, so it could be a long day for Davis….

  10. D-Rok Says:

DNA=Identity. At least the ‘Boys HAVE an “identity.” I wonder what opposing defenses would say is the Bucs identity this year?

Miss the days when a 300 lb guy didn’t get called for roughing 6 inches after the QB got rid of the ball. When DB had the ability to be in good coverage without being called for PI. When a PI in the end zone was 15 yards and not at the one yard line. When guys make a beautiful, clean hit and get called for targeting. All about NFL offense marketing. The death of “defense wins championships.”

Having Davis back is great…..but I’m expecting turnovers from SMB & Edwards….It’s their time to shine.

The cowpies are seriously gonna flop.
    Any word on Hainsey? Jenson?
Of course, words from Todd about injuries are Wurds spelled with a T.

    SOEbuc

    Right there with you, brother.

We are left with a drastically lesser product these days.

Sad. This game used to have so much more beauty. Just sad.

  16. THOMAS PFALZ Says:

IMHO I consider Dean as the #1 CB

That Week 1 matchup, didn’t the Cowgirls have some OL issues?

I mean we have to make Dak uncomfortable and I’m sure we’re going to get a heavy dose of Winfield Deuces Jr. and Devin White blitzes. If we can get Edwards and Ryan as the safeties, then I’m confident. I’m not so sure about Neal. He’s physical in short to medium passes and the run game, but he’s a liability against vertical offenses.

If we have all starters healthy, then my money is on the Bucs. The Boys made a mistake in letting Cooper go. That stunted their offense. And if their run game is shoddy, then they’re one dimensional. But our run defense has been suspect. Our guys better come to win.

Hopefully this defense isn’t forgetting about Zeke Elliot and Tony Pollard…
