Progress For Joe Tyron-Shoyinka
January 8th, 2023Joe wonders if the proverbial light finally has turned on for Joe Tryon-Shoyinka or if someone with the Bucs finally got to him?
JTS had a second straight game where he was active. He had a quarterback hit, a tackle for loss, and enough tackles early on (three) for Atlanta to start avoiding him, especially after the Bucs emptied the bench in the second quarter.
Last week JTS had seven tackles and a quarterback hit.
Now Joe isn’t ready to anoint JTS as the second coming. He’s not a game-changer (yet) but earlier this year he was invisible for too many games. At least you hear his name called now.
Good for JTS to start showing up as the Bucs prepare for the playoffs for the third straight season.

lol Joe he’s not good. Period.
January 8th, 2023 at 4:31 pm
I must have missed his great playing.
January 8th, 2023 at 4:33 pm
He played?
January 8th, 2023 at 4:34 pm
Ppppffffftttt!
January 8th, 2023 at 4:36 pm
I see an uptick in his play (Trust me I have not been a fan) Hopefully he can build on it.
January 8th, 2023 at 4:37 pm
I agree Joe. Not much in most of his two years here but the last two games he has been better.
Can he sustain it? We will see.
January 8th, 2023 at 4:38 pm
We paid Julio Jones $6 million dollars just to teach Chris Godwin how to protect the football
January 8th, 2023 at 4:39 pm
He actually did play well…..as did Thompkins………
Thompkins will be a great #4 receiver for us next year…..
January 8th, 2023 at 4:41 pm
He’s finally getting to his full grown man weight.
I think that’s why line of scrimmage players take a little longer to develop than skill players.
Just saying.
January 8th, 2023 at 4:42 pm
JTS has been improving the last three games…..BUT….THEY’VE also been playing against not so good teams.
If JTS can flash in the playoffs….then that’s true signs of improvement
January 8th, 2023 at 4:42 pm
Some people love to hate young players who don’t immediately live up to their expectations. JTS hate is predictable and tired.
January 8th, 2023 at 4:45 pm
Im glad for JTS, was wondering….another spence….hope not
January 8th, 2023 at 4:45 pm
I try to be positive about the Bucs young players, but I don’t remember an NFL player being as easily juked out as Tryon, and we’re not talking about Michael Vick-type QB’s (Purdy & McSorley come to mind).
January 8th, 2023 at 4:46 pm
He is improved. What else can you ask for?
January 8th, 2023 at 4:47 pm
Thompkins looks so tiny out there……he definitely ain’t no Tyrek Hill.
I want to see Scotty Miller get more playing time.
Did everyone see Cameron Brate with Backups????? That kinda made me sad because he was Mr reliable for so many years……I think all the injuries he’s sustained has finally caught up to him.
January 8th, 2023 at 4:48 pm
Looks like Tarzan…plays like…
January 8th, 2023 at 4:48 pm
He’s playing better no doubt… He’d probably be posting noteworthy numbers if Shaq was still playing. Playoffs we’re really going to miss Shaq.
January 8th, 2023 at 4:53 pm
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍
…….good one Frank!!!!
January 8th, 2023 at 4:55 pm
I still hold a lot of faith in JTS. One more season and I will know for sure.
January 8th, 2023 at 4:57 pm
He sure spends a lot of time in the opposing team’s backfield. He is getting more and more disruptive and he’s 100%. Next game will be interesting.
January 8th, 2023 at 5:00 pm
The guy runs around in the backfield like a chicken with his head cut off. He will disappear against Dallas. Frank Pillow said it best….. JTS shouldn’t be in the NFL.
January 8th, 2023 at 5:02 pm
Only if he can stop running past the QBs when he has a shot at a sack lol better keep kicking his game up because I haven’t seen enough sauce from him yet. We need Dawgs on that DLine look at That Niners front that’s what we need to look like. 💯
January 8th, 2023 at 5:06 pm
I haven’t given up on JTS yet. He’s a physical specimen, that’s for sure. DE is not often a position where someone comes right out of college and flashes. It happens, but it’s kind of a rarity. At least he’s trending in the right direction.
January 8th, 2023 at 5:11 pm
Some say, “JTS is so athletic”
I say, “he must not be”
January 8th, 2023 at 5:19 pm
I say…..if JTS cannot rush the passer as a glorified DE in this 3-4 defense…..then turn him into a LB….cause he’s fast enough to do that position.
January 8th, 2023 at 5:31 pm
Huh? Lol joe this might be one of your worse take’s written this year. Jts is a bum
January 8th, 2023 at 6:16 pm
But Kyle’s Trashk played great! Yeah!
January 8th, 2023 at 6:25 pm
Tras was a flop.
January 8th, 2023 at 6:33 pm
The game has not completely slowed down for him yet, he’s still like a kid playing basketball against his dad.
Getting closer though to whopping pops !
January 8th, 2023 at 6:56 pm
make a play jts make a play
January 8th, 2023 at 7:00 pm
He’s definitely been playing better the last few weeks, albeit against some bad teams. Finally he’s around the action, putting pressure on QBs, etc.
Don’t think he will ever be our best pass rusher but could see him growing into a complimentary role to another rusher, like Shaq if he was healthy.
January 8th, 2023 at 7:47 pm
Bust
January 8th, 2023 at 8:07 pm
Those brushing him off and calling him a bust are basically clueless and expect any DE to come in and get 7+ sacks and light it up. Unless you’re a top-five pick, that is extremely unrealistic.
If you’re not in the top 10 you are more than likely going to take 2 to 3 years to come into your own.
The hardest, non-quarterback position on the field to draft.
I have definitely seen improvement in him, although it should have been more this year. All that said, the Buccaneers really need a game changing DE drafted in the next two years.
January 8th, 2023 at 8:11 pm
The biggest problem I see with him is sometimes he does his initial move and kind of stops to make sure he has contain, or to see where the plays going, or something, I don’t know. It’s like he’s thinking too much, still. He should not be.
Watch the real good pass rushers, their swim move, spin, power move, etc. is not the goal. It is just something they do on the way to the quarterback.
Next year I fully expect him to have at least 8 sacks, preferably more than 10.
January 8th, 2023 at 8:15 pm
JTS needs to learn how to play behind the beat and gain some better situational awareness. Still can’t get over the pass he batted to the ground instead of intercepting it and heading for the EZ.
January 8th, 2023 at 8:55 pm
JTS is just not a very good football player. He tries and he’s athletic but has zero instincts and no dawg in him. He kay be serviceable one day but not what you expect from a first round pick.
January 8th, 2023 at 11:50 pm
Dude is decent he just can’t finish, seems like he’d have 10 sacks with how much qb’s get away from him
January 9th, 2023 at 9:38 am
Bust. Should have never been drafted as high as he was. Had limited playing time in college so not sure what Jason saw in the guy. An old, injured JPP is still better.
January 9th, 2023 at 11:42 am
Needs to add some muscle. Has the speed. Needs to control the attacks.
January 10th, 2023 at 8:57 am
I like his energy and speed but he too often takes himself out of the play. Blockers play him by giving him room to the outside and then push him out of the play. He does seem to be doing a better job of getting close enough to the qb to force him to move or rush his pass lately. A lot of “almost” sacks lately. And he is good at chashing down runners past the line of scrimmage when plays break down. Great speed but too often pushed wide. Needs to develop spin moves to the inside .

Joes
I think you are being kind to JTS when you say invisable.
He was visable getting blown up by blockers and blowing his assignments!
