Leave it to legendary Bucs receiver Mike Evans to draw inspiration from a tragedy.
Sports fans everywhere were shaken by what happened Monday to Bills safety Damar Hamlin. Having a heart attack after an on-field hit during Monday Night Football shocked the sports world and society at large.
While many players might say the incident has them re-thinking the importance of playing football, Evans said what happened to Hamlin has him more focused on giving the game everything he has.
“It was scary to see, but it just makes me want to go even harder because you never know when it’s going to be your last time,” Evans said. “You never know. So you just gotta give it your all every time.”
What a healthy attitude by Evans. If you’re going to have a career that comes with risk, then why not embrace and appreciate all its moments.

Point to ponder.
1000 people have cardiac arrest every day. They get de-fibbed, have CPR done, go to hospitals, get treated, recover, etc. Nobody cares except immediate family and close friends. It never makes the news. One incident on live TV, a football player, and it’s front page news ever since. ??

John, I thought the same thing. But it really does bring into focus that life can end in an instant. You’ve got to give 100% each day because you never know when it might end. That’s what Evans is expressing.

You have to remember the people that get no sympathy from the masses are unknown to them.
When it happens to celebrities or athletes it has more eyes on it and then it becoming a talking point.

You could tell ME13 was disgruntled with Brady and I think it’s on Brady to recapture that magic.
Let them play a few series and hopefully they score on the first drive.
On the flip side they look terrible and someone gets injured
Either way I hope Mike retires a Buc.

I love the positve Vibes! I hope Hamlin feels the same way! Compare Mike Evans Stats to Devante Adams = ME13 HOF! According to everybody Devante is the best, not if you look at both of thier careers. Don’t get me wrong Devante is Badass player and deserves all the props! just not as much as ME13

The EMT’s on scene and Docs are the Heroes. W/O them he would not have made it. They will never reveal the cause of his Heart Attack at age 24. I do not believe it was because of a routine tackle.

It was on National TV and media cover is obnoxious on ALL TOPICS to your point. However, I used to sell LIFEAPK Defibrillators & LUCAS Chest compression device to the EMS/ FIRE. It was a very rewarding job, products that help clinically dead people be revived by 1st responders. These individuals save people everyday and no one talks about it. They don’t get a bonus when they save someone’s life it’s just their job. It’s good to see that they are being recognized as well. They are TRUE heroes in every community across the country.

“Obnoxious” is a pretty perfect word but it has reached the “sickening” stage now.
You have ex-players going on shows this morning claiming the the NFL should cancel/postpone games this weekend to allow players to mentally recover.
1) The NFL played three days after JFK was shot. You know, the leader of the free world?
(1b. The day Reagan was shot and no one knew if he would pull out of it, North Carolina played Indiana for the national championship in hoops.)
2) Joe was actually in (nee) Heinz Field when Cam Brate got carted off on a board with his head stabilized. Not one person in that stadium knew for a fact Brate wasn’t traumatically injured for life. Neither Mike Tomlin nor Todd Bowles pulled their teams off the field.
This incident has gone for genuine concern and heartfelt wishes to folks using this injury in selfish attempts to out-virtue signal each other to obnoxiousness to sick pandering, which is where we are now.

For the record, I worked for the Bucs and inside of NFL stadiums for half a decade as a GAME DAY OPORATIONS SUPERVISOR.
NEVER, has an ambulance been allowed to be in the stadium UNMARKED like the ambulance that went onto the field in Buffalo.
In FACT, when has the last time ANY OF YOU have seen an OFFICIAL UNMARKED ambulance in your city?
STOP with the “everyone has heart attacks and can die at any random time, even people that are among the healthiest on EARTH” narrative.

This is a very old take. Every time a celebrity, athlete, actor, or some public figure dies or has a tragic event, someone always has to say something like what you just said. It should be obvious. You care and are interested because this person is known. Although it’s not real, there is a connection. You feel connected to the person because they’re on your TV in your living room week after week. Or they are on the news or the big screen or singing through your headphones.
If your favorite Buccaneer player died in a tragic event tomorrow it would affect you. Even though they don’t know who you are, it’s real from your perspective as a fan. There is real empathy there. That’s why you cry in a movie, even though the characters are completely fake. It’s a one-way connection. You feel familiar with them.
When the queen of England died it affected millions of people. Over the last several years, everyone from Prince to David Bowie to Eddie Van Halen dying affected millions. I’m still bent out of shape because Eddie Van Halen is no longer here.
Add to the fact that these are modern-day gladiators who all accept that injuries will happen, a leg broken, an achilles blown out, it’s still rather shocking to see several minutes of CPR on the playing field because someone technically died in front of us. That is not accepted in the realm of potential injuries that can happen.
This outpouring of empathy also takes absolutely nothing away from any other cardiac arrest victim throughout the country.
