Anthony Nelson, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka Get “Major Shoutout”
January 4th, 2023Joe loves former NFL offensive lineman and current NFL talking head Brian Baldinger a lot. But man, these guys from the northeast sure do whine about humidity.
Baldinger is a great guy, often helpful to Joe, and Joe loves his Twitter video breakdowns of players. Yesterday, he uploaded highlights of Bucs outside linebackers Anthony Nelson and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka.
Nelson, of course, had that key strip/sack of Carolina quarterback Sam Darnold. It basically helped put the game out of reach.
And JTS was no stranger to Darnold, either. On the video clip below, Baldinger highlighted JTS blasting Darnold. Joe loves watching Bucs defenders blast quarterbacks.
Baldinger was impressed Nelson and JTS have logged nearly every snap the past few games. Baldinger noted this was even more impressive when you factor in the humidity on Sunday.
Was it humid? Joe didn’t think so and thought it was a nice day, especially for Jan. 1. Maybe Joe’s too used to humid summers of the Midwest and being in Florida for decades — still haven’t seen a gator and no, Joe ain’t lookin’ for one either! Oh, well.
“Major shoutout,” Baldinger enthusiastically said of the Bucs’ outside linebackers. And Baldinger is right, they had a nice game.
You can see the full video clip below.
.@Buccaneers 2 DE’s ; @ANelly98 @joe_tryon have played every defensive snap over the past 3 games due to injuries. Nelson; in the fog of humidity makes the biggest play of game late in the 4th. Major Shoutout #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/x6nUSeDALR

I moved to Bloomingdale in 1984. It was my house one other house and that was it. I have seen many many gators, alligator snapping turtles, water moccasins, using just some string and a stick catching blue hill with bread when I was 7. catfish coming out of the gutters during heavy rains. We used to walk to Burns Jr. High and throw rocks at alligators that were fenced in. We explored and found a massive massive landfill. Wild watermelons. Man it was fun back in the 80s bye mom bye be home before dark and we would be gone all day. Now it’s helicopter parents kids don’t have to walk to their buddies house the make fun times through screens. I remember having to actually knock on my buddies door meet his parents hello sir hell ma’am. They size ya up and your good to go. Now who the hell knows who are kids are talking to. They are some sneaky little things.

Glad to see Nelson stepping up. Still Luke warm on JTS but respect his effort.
January 4th, 2023 at 7:00 am
Next year Nelson should be first string over JTS
January 4th, 2023 at 7:22 am
I disagree with Baldinger regarding JTS. JTS has made some bone head plays throughout the season n continues to do so till this day. On the play in the video, two things stood out to me. 1. JTS made no effort to jump up to deflect or bat the ball down. He has a one track mind. 2.He hit Darnoldson way after the ball was released. He had time to pull up. We were VERY lucky he didn’t get a penalty on that play. Wake up folks, JTS does not have football intelligence, just speed. This is an example of poor coaching.

Obviously Baldinger knows more about football than me, but all I see JTS doing is flailing his arms about and getting pushed out of plays. Maybe I looked away for a minute.

Nelson will be a priority signing and that will be difficult in a year when Dean, SMB & Edwards’ contracts are up.
What’s up with Logan Hall….our first pick & another game with a goose egg.
January 4th, 2023 at 7:59 am
Nelson has been a nice surprise when given the opportunity
January 4th, 2023 at 8:01 am
Joe, it’s really strange you haven’t seen a gator yet. Most days I see more gators than people. You need to ride with me for a day. I work on lakes and ponds. You would be amazed how many live among us around here.
January 4th, 2023 at 8:02 am
Yeah Joe. People that grew up near the bean and corn fields, near the rivers , in July really know what humidity is. Often few breezes away from the rivers, as well. The one saving grace is that Temps usually fell from 90 or the occasional 100, and cooled off at about 11 O’clock at night.
January 4th, 2023 at 8:18 am
Doesn’t surprise me that this Joe has never seen a gator. Ignorance is bliss
January 4th, 2023 at 8:20 am
BTW Joe. You do know a century ago, Chicago reversed the Illinois river and dumped all their human and industrial waste, which then eventually went clear down to the Mississippi. Didn’t want to screw up their Great Lakes drinking water.
Missouri/ St. Louis sued because Chicago was tainting their water, clear to the SCOTUS. Chicago big money won. Nothing like growing up with Cadmium and Molybdenum in your morning coffee. Just another reason downstate has the “affection” it does for Chicago.

Nelson and JTS are gradually improving. JTS sure spends a lot of time in the OPPOSING team’s backfield disrupting things. He’s also starting to get more sacks. He was a big factor in that crucial turnover/fumble that Nelson and VV caused and recovered.
January 4th, 2023 at 8:40 am
Never seen a gator Joe? Don’t worry, they’re only impressive to themselves.
January 4th, 2023 at 8:45 am
Chicago sucks. Dirty corrupt spithole. Too bad you are still paying Illinois pension funds.
JTS sucks more.
Nelson keeps getting better. JTS does not.

Humidity in the northeast? It’s more humid up in NJ than Florida in the summer months. Don’t believe me? Come visit the jersey shore in July, the Joe’s!
January 4th, 2023 at 8:52 am
Joe….if you want to see a gator…..take Ira to the Tampa Zoo…..have a hot dog…..see a gator…..a hippo too…..have some fun!!!
January 4th, 2023 at 9:33 am
NJbucs23…. it will literally bee 100% humidity here, it can’t possibly be more humid.
January 4th, 2023 at 9:35 am
Ah, that would explain it. 🙂
Joe doesn’t do golf and has only been to a Florida lake once. Didn’t a see gator.
Have a buddy who lives in Middleburg who lives on a river (he calls it a lake). He said periodically he will have a gator in his back yard. Drank beers with him on his dock a few times. Never saw one.

Try On…. needs to learn to GET THOSE HANDS IN THE AIR!
January 4th, 2023 at 10:21 am
And Joe, you haven’t seen an actual gator in 20/30 years? My Buc fan friend, you really need to get out a bit more. I believe that’s some kind of sacrilege here in Florida. Lack of getting out “In Florida” with ALL of the outdoor that it has to offer versus practically All Other States in the Union “besides maybe Hawaii” , well that a kin to worshipping the devil! (Joking of course) but I might not have admitted that if I were a sports writer. So you get points for at least a type of guts. You really need to get out there a bit more. Might I suggest an air boat ride. You get a two~fer that way. See the Florida you’ve been neglecting yourself AND WON’T EVEN GET WET! Perfect!
January 4th, 2023 at 10:30 am
JTS needs a lot of work. Nelson should be no surprise to Bucs fans. He’s a stud.
January 4th, 2023 at 11:02 am
They did have a decent game
January 4th, 2023 at 11:48 am
Give JTS a little more time. The effort is there. He just hasn’t fully learned how to stack moves on top of each other.
January 4th, 2023 at 12:58 pm
The one joe dont look like he likes to walk let alone go outside for anything
January 4th, 2023 at 1:23 pm
is it me, or does jts look like a boy among men in the video among defensive linemen? he looks so slender, and really gets moved with a shove (in the direction the qb is moving).
seems like he needs to add functional weight/strenght during the off-season to be more effective next yr. returning to that defensive end/rushers camp couldn’t hurt either.
January 4th, 2023 at 3:04 pm
Joe, there are fairly nearby businesses where you can go and even feed gators. Check ’em out–they love to eat marshmallows, too. As for JTS, I am still a fan. I remember the glee in the draft room when we got him. BA was clearly joyful. I see him being everywhere but not being particularly focused. I believe he will improve (but I also thought that about Jamiss for a couple of years so I could be dead wrong).
January 4th, 2023 at 3:52 pm
LOL Why would Joe want to do that?
January 4th, 2023 at 7:19 pm
@ Joe so you’ve never eaten it either?

FACT: An Alligator has tiny muscles to open his mouth. THat is why you see people holding the mouth closed with their hands on wildlife shows.
