Tom Brady Leads NFL In Pass Interference Yards
December 30th, 2022The Panthers are missing their top cornerback on Sunday, Jaycee Horn. How bout going after his replacement with the heavy artillery?
Not only does Tom Brady lead the NFC in total passing yards this season, The Goat tops the NFL in racking up yardage via defensive pass interference penalties.
Dangerous quarterback.
FootballOutsiders.com popped the stat today that Brady has racked up 218 yards on 11 pass interference penalties. Russell Wilson ranks second (209 yards, 9 penalties). And then there’s a dropoff in yardage and penalties to Kirk Cousins followed by Aaron Rodgers and Jacoby Brissett.
So how about more deep shots, Coach Bowles and Coach Leftwich? Pretty please!
If you weren’t still busy guzzling Big Storm beer or egg nog, you may have missed the Bucs opening their Christmas night game in Arizona with a 30-yard shot to Julio Jones that drew an interference call. First down, Tampa Bay!
Why the Bucs don’t take more shots to draw flags, especially against poor defensive backfields is beyond Joe’s capacity to comprehend (see Pittsburgh).
Early in the season it became clear that referees would not call pass interference on passes to Scotty Miller. He was getting mugged on deep shots and no flags were flying. But the flags come when it’s Mike Evans and Julio Jones, among others.

This is what I am saying!!! lots of thigs to consider with Brady. You CAN NOT measure what he means in knowledge and the leadership he provides. He will be extremely hard to replace!!
December 30th, 2022 at 5:28 pm
Another stat, we can clean our tail with.
December 30th, 2022 at 5:30 pm
Mike draws the flags…..he is a beast to cover and catches most everything thrown his way………I like Mike!!!
December 30th, 2022 at 5:42 pm
Is this shocking? Bet Brady is in top 3 majority of his 57 year career
December 30th, 2022 at 5:47 pm
Hey fellers, stop saying what Todd should do. especially if it makes sense. He will do the opposite. why? HE’S DA MAN!!!!!
December 30th, 2022 at 5:48 pm
I wonder where he rank in “points of turnovers” the last 4 games, moving the ball is one thing, ball security is something else and there’s a reason they don’t parade a state like points off turnovers in football is because it takes some of the shine off the QB narratives we bludgeoned with from sports news outlets with almost every team on a weekly/annual basis. Can’t be just going around humanizing these guys I guess
December 30th, 2022 at 5:53 pm
I don’t understand how we he leads the NFC in passing. The offense seems putrid.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:01 pm
A cool stat: Tom Brady leads all 45 year olds in passing yardage.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:01 pm
Can’t argue with the stat but Mike and Scotty need some love here too.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:03 pm
That’s mostly Mike Evans…
As for “How bout going after his replacement with the heavy artillery?” uhhhhh… Might I remind you that Pittsburg was missing their top 3 cornerbacks and their best pass rusher, and Leftwich’s genius plan was to pound the rock.
Because why take advantage of an opponent’s weakness, when you can ram your head into the wall against their strength instead? That’s called the B Leftwich Special.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:06 pm
Clean house@ he throws more and for the most part accurate. Some of these so call fans shat on him for his long ball but if a team can hit 2 or 3 of those a game that’s a lot. Most passes are under 20 yds.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:08 pm
If he catches good and he draws flags maybe throw the ball at him?
December 30th, 2022 at 6:09 pm
So you’re saying with Tom Brady at QB, and your best lineman potentially back, and a healthy receiving corp… They should pass?!?!?
I don’t know, seems crazy.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:15 pm
“Should” be a stellar day for Crybaby 13
December 30th, 2022 at 6:21 pm
David@ right? Evan’s, Godwin, Jones & Gage and you want to run the ball.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:23 pm
There is NO team in the league that has 4 wr’s to match the Bucs. Most have 2, 3 is a stretch.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:31 pm
@NEfan – yeah but you’re forgetting we have Leftwich running the offense.
He doesn’t do the smart thing. Scheming guys open is a foreign concept. Misdirection is unheard of. Taking advantage of an opponent’s weaknesses is forbidden.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:32 pm
We are going to see exactly what we’ve seen the last 14 weeks. These coaches are incapable of creating different schemes on offense. It’s criminal what this staff has done to this team. Completely neutered it.
I’m disgusted that the 2 stooges can’t improvise at all. As long as Bowles/Leftwich are in charge we’re gonna see the same garbage literally every game.
Incompetence at the highest level.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:37 pm
The question is the same as it has been all year long: can the OL project? Can it generate any running game?
Getting Jensen back is huge. Wirf’s availability is huge.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:39 pm
^ Jensen isn’t playing.
We’ll see what level Wirfs and Smith can play at, if they play.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:46 pm
Man if they can sneak by this one and have Hainsley at center Jensen left guard, Smith & Mason & Wirf? I like their chances against Dallas if they open the O up a little.
December 30th, 2022 at 6:53 pm
Coach radio says run more up the middle n behind 3 rd string LG👍
December 30th, 2022 at 7:33 pm
I can’t believe we lead on passing and only score 17 points a game wtf is that?
December 30th, 2022 at 7:35 pm
Leftwich can’t even speak coherent english.TOILET BOWELS SUCKS.
December 30th, 2022 at 7:52 pm
maybe jensen and leverett can split some time at LG this sunday…
big red is probably not in shape yet…
ease the big man in until he gets in the flow
December 30th, 2022 at 7:54 pm
run the same dang deep play to evans this time, and make it work…
no dropperoonies
December 30th, 2022 at 8:19 pm
Fluff piece…TB12 dangerous? I think Rus proves the stat = not so much….Disregard TB12 led Bucs still only avg 17.7pts a game. Which ain’t Great…
In context, 17.7/game while gaining 11 DPI’s really speaks to how poorly this offense has operated this year. You would think if you’re getting that many calls over the avg., you’d turn those into extra points over the course of the season. But that’s really not the case. This team has a hard time getting drives started without sabotaging themselves, let alone finishing drives with TD’s after gaining favorable calls.
December 30th, 2022 at 9:46 pm
Under thrown balls many of times turn into PI calls.
December 30th, 2022 at 10:05 pm
Big receivers like Evans and Julio always get mugged because smaller players cannot get high enough to cover them. The corners are not as strong as those big WR so they can’t be physical without PI So it makes sense it would be Brady and Wilson. Metcalf is a big boy too..
December 30th, 2022 at 10:46 pm
Joe: “Todd, why don’t we heavily target Horn’s replacement this Sunday?”
Todd: “Well we can possibly do that occasionally on 3rd downs, because this season, we are heavily committed to the run on 1st and 2nd downs. The main reason for us to run on 1st and 2nd is because that gives us more 3rd down opportunities. We are very committed to becoming better on 3rd downs this year.”
Byron: “We do what we do”
December 30th, 2022 at 11:02 pm
Another interesting stat: Giants, Commies and dolphins have better records than brady. Jacksonville, yes Jacksonville, Jets, and droit have the same record. Think about that.
December 30th, 2022 at 11:23 pm
Need to run more since their top cornerback is out is probably the plan
December 30th, 2022 at 11:32 pm
Everyone is wondering how he is so high up in passing yards… Do you not watch the games? They try to run for most the game, including a ton of WR screens, or passes within 1 to 2 yard to the line scrimmage. He racks up all those yards, although they’re not much. Then when they’re losing late, they suddenly go with tempo and no huddle and actually move the ball through the air by passing beyond the line of scrimmage.
The other aspect of it is the fact that offense across the league took a major drop this year other than a few teams
December 31st, 2022 at 12:04 am
if only Brady has a competent and knowledgeable coach with this team, he will only be racking up more record breakers.
December 31st, 2022 at 2:35 am
“We seen what he do”.
December 31st, 2022 at 4:02 pm
Doosh, get off the idiot train: ME13 is a “crybaby”? Good one. You sound like a yahoo. And Brady, the fossilized wonder? Wow, how many games did he help Bucs lose? Let’s see: Bengals, Panthers, Steelers, the list goes on. Bucs will win tomorrow in spite of this ancient charmed artifact. Pretty ironic, huh?
December 31st, 2022 at 6:21 pm
Bowles, Leftwich, and Orlbucsfan should ride out of town together. Would love to hear a deep thought conversation in that car. Uhhhhhhhh….
