“Nullifies The Pass Rush”

Rest assured Tom Brady wants to run a hurry-up offense. That was the word this week from a reasoned and seasoned former NFL playcaller and head coach.
Todd Haley is a rather boring dude as a voice on SiriusXM NFL Radio, but sometimes Haley will bust out great Xs and Os, so Joe will listen. That happened this week when the former Chiefs head coach and longtime Steelers playcaller (2012 to 2017) talked about Brady and the Bucs offense.
Haley recognizes Brady’s comfort when he goes to his four-minute and two-minute offense late in games. It’s understandable, Haley explained.
“It doesn’t appear there’s a lot of trust with the guys up front [on the offensive line] … that then bleeds into the timing,” Haley said. “He understands he can’t take sacks; he lives by that. He’s always done a great job of getting the football out.
“It’s just speeding him up, and then once you get into that when you’re going a little faster, that kind of nullifies the pass rush. Because those guys can’t keep coming. It’s harder to get blitz calls in. You know, all those things start to be a factor and you’re able to play without seeing all that pressure every single snap. And on top of that, you get into a really good rhythm. Quarterbacks, generally, I think if you ask every quarterback, ‘Hey, you want to go no-huddle?’ Their answer is going to be like, ‘Yeah, let’s do it.’ Now you can’t always do it, but they get to play fast. There’s not a lot of thinking going on. They’re running plays that they’re very familiar with and they know their players around them are very familiar with.
“So, you know, I think that when you see [Brady and the Bucs] get into that mode, that’s why it looks a little different. Because I think, you know, you take the pass rush out, you help with the rhythm, timing, trust, understanding — all those things. Because those are plays you rep every single week going back to OTAs.”
Very well laid out by Haley. Joe is not making excuses for Brady’s struggles early in games. But how bout some early no-huddle, Coach Bowles and Leftwich?
It’s not exactly re-inventing the wheel. Plus, the Bucs are averaging 7.6 points in the first halves of games this season. That’s awful. Something has to be changed up there.

Mannnnnnn…….all I know is this….
The Carolina Panthers are going to BRING IT this coming Sunday…..they want to get into the playoffs bad…..like they want it more than the Bucs do for sure.
Ontop of all that….they have an extra incentive to knock the GOAT and the Bucs outta contention as well.
It could be a very very very ugly game for Brady and the Bucs.
I sure hope this whole coaching staff is planning something else on offense instead of the garbage we’ve been seeing these last three weeks.

It’s a no-brainer to do this early & often. We used to mix in uptempo and no huddle, flowing in and our, often on the same drive. It keeps defenses guessing and limits substitutions. That’s the name of the game isn’t it? Design an offense that makes the opposition uncomfortable and has them on their heels. The 2022 Buc offense anything but this. Opposing defenses are way too comfortable.

Bucs dont need to run a 2 min Hurry up. They can run intermittent no huddle. Dont let the D sub or Huddle. Control the pace of the game. Sub when you want but stay in a no huddle and call the pays at the line.

The offense has to get going and everyone including Santa has laid it out for Bowlesack and Leftovers. But this needs to be the defense’s best game. It has to be 4/4s and not 3/4s. Bowles needs to let Brady and Lefty scheme their offense and he 100% needs to put his best defensive scheme of his life together. No mistakes, 100% focus and turnovers. No more drops by defensive backs. Every secondary player and backer needs to spend an hour every day on the juggs machine. Catch the ball. Defense can win this game. Press it up and stop the run.

@R.O. – exactly.
You don’t even have to run it for an entire drive- you can do 3 or 4 plays, and then slow it down and change personnel for a few plays, back to hurry up, etc.
There were a few years where Brady and New England did this with great results. You still see it with the Chiefs and Bills, among others.
The more you can do to keep the defense off balance and tired, the better. Unfortunately, that concept is completely foreign to Moyron Leftwich.

Well if we lose this week, I guess the silver lining will be that Bowles should get the boot! So either way, in my opinion we win Bucs fans. That is the unfortunate reality we are in! Now he could surprise me Sunday, by changing a few things up, but just color me highly skeptical!

Many of us fans have been screaming for more no-huddle, at the least. Even mix in some hurry-up at end of halves, myself included. It’s SO FREAKIN’ OBVIOUS what has “worked” for this team, this year. And yet, the coaches are brain-dead to what even seasoned experts have also been screaming for.
When are these coaches gonna wake up and help the Bucs win?
It’s as simple as that, and yes, I give most of the discredit to the coaches this year – starting with head coach.

The sad part Joe is they still haven’t made adjustments. Week seventeen and the study of offense versus defense versus putting your players in continuous places to succeed is absent. It hasn’t been there all year and what is really sad is that it won’t come in the next two weeks. If the Glasers had any savy they would have made a coaching change on the offense side the ball after the Seattle game. Clyde would have been humming along by now. It is so sad to know what to do but no one on that side pulls the trigger. I have the I.Q. of room temperature and I would have done something way before we are now in obligation time.

it’s so funny sometimes how so many people dance around reality. Todd Bowles is the head coach for 2 reasons #1;Bruce #2; well, you know. For that reason he will NOT CHANGE. He’s at the top of the mountain and what he says goes. It’s week 15 and some people still dance around the obvious. But I understand…..I don’t agree……..but i understand. Or maybe they hired him because of his winning record. YEAH THAT’S It!!!!!!!!!!!

We are losing the chess match every week. No strategy just hope. No need to score in first half since there is an entire second half. Maybe it’s just a lack of understanding how time works (the unused timeouts game). How energy flows (bad, predictable play calling). It seems coaches are coaching like the refs are reffing.
