Will Bruce Arians Be Lured Back To The Cardinals?

December 23rd, 2022

Joe was thinking about this prior to the flammable report today from ESPN about how Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is unhappy and thinks ownership doesn’t support him.

And as the NFL world knows, Arizona general manager Steve Keim is a on a leave of absence that’s been give little public clarity and many Cardinals fans and media hope his days running the club are over.

Consider how popular Arizona columnist and sports radio host Dan Bickley blasted Keim this week. and called him “the biggest threat to the competitive outlook in Arizona” thanks to bad drafts, poor salary cap management and one playoff appearance since 2015, among other things.

Bickley tied that up with a recollection of the last time the Cardinals were a well run machine.

“Since the departure of Bruce Arians, the Cardinals have been sorely lacking direction, definition and leadership. There seems to be no philosophy, no identity and no long-term plan in place. The Cardinals are in danger of losing 13 games in a season for just the third time in a ragged 102-year-old history that spans three different cities.”

Arians is in Arizona now in advance of the Bucs-Cardinals game on Christmas night. He still has family there and is a true folk hero in Phoenix, and his foundation remains active in the area.

Does anyone believe Arians and Cardinals owner Michael Bidwell won’t have a long lunch or a few cocktails in the next handful of days?

Anyone who watched the Amazon All or Nothing series on Arians’ Cardinals would surely think they remain close buddies.

Arians has proven this summer and fall that he has no interest in staying off an NFL practice field or out of the public eye. So Joe wonders how much Arians misses calling shots and being the voice of an organization? Logic says he does.

Arians probably could get that back in Arizona in some form of role created just for him, one that would have Arians thinking he could further add to his legacy and grow his coaching tree.

Joe wouldn’t be surprised if the Arians chapter in Tampa closes soon.

    Yawn

  2. ClwJB Says:

Only if he takes Byron and Keith with him – his love for this staff is one of the great mysteries of the universe

  3. Bucsfan13 Says:

Arians and Kyler Murray would be so an explosive combo. No way BA would put up with some of his antics. BA also doesn’t like smaller QBs. He likes big guys with strong arms.

  4. JWBUCS Says:

Considering Bruce Arians health issues, I would doubt that he ever goes back to full time Head Couching…

  5. Winny Testaverde Says:

I’d miss Arians…but if that old loyal cuss took his entire coaching staff with him…then I’m all for it. To think the Bucs would have received 3rd round picks if Dumb & Dumber were hired by Atlanta & Jacksonville respectively…no to mention weaken a divisional opponent…oh what could have been.

  6. BucsfanFred Says:

    I’d miss ol’ Bucco Bruce

  7. Redeemer Says:

Just my opinion, but I think BA kind of screwed the bucs. His late retirement almost insured Bowles would get the job. I’ll give him this, he played it perfectly.

  8. Bucobill999 Says:

Take all his boys back with him

  9. SufferingSince76 Says:

Unfortunately, whatever he does, Bowles will still be Bucs head coach. I’m wondering if Arians even knew that Bowles would kill the offense the way he has.

  10. NEfan Says:

Go and take your bag misfit toys with you. There is nothing you’re doing that does distract this team. Adios Papa Smurf. Kingsbury is dealing with a bunch of should be NBA players. Murray sucks, it would be interesting to see if BA & his stooges can get to a SB with Hopkins, Anderson, Green, Ertz & Connors. If not you’ll all see what a poser he really is.

  11. McBucky Says:

If Bruce continued coaching for us this year, we’d be legit contenders right now.

  13. Lakeland Steve Says:

Hopefully he takes Bowles with him

  14. Davenport Says:

he’s doing absolutely nothing for the Bucs – he won’t be missed

  15. Allbuccedup Says:

Hopefully he will take Lefty with him because Licht is going to live or die with Bowles. If we don’t beat the sorry Cardinals with a 3rd string QB then Bowles should be fired but won’t.

  16. RuKa_44 Says:

Yes!! Please do!!! But only if you take BL and TB with you!….
“Let’s get the band together one more time in Arizona!”

  17. RuKa_44 Says:

(By TB I mean Tod, not Tom!!)

  18. NEfan Says:

The team love for BA was starting to dimish last year when he chased AB off the team, smacked Adam’s and constantly threw his players under the bus.

  19. HC Grover Says:

Please and take the whole Clown Show with him.

  20. WillieG Says:

Siri hates me. I am not drunk.

  21. Redeemer Says:

NE, bag of misfit toys. That’s a good one. “BL, Why weren’t you at elf practice”?

  22. Goatfarmer Says:

If he does, he can take Bowelswich with him and do the Bucs a huge favor. Ain’t happening though.

  23. Manny Says:

Wouldnt it make more sense for him to bw the bucs coach again. I mean he has proved time and time again that he is a great one of a kind coach. He wins and he brings results, motivation, good schemes, tons of experience of pearning and working with the best. He isnt afraid to call someone out when their effing up and that means the goat himself. It seems like when he’s the coach, the offense is a lot better than it was before he took over and is significantly different afyer he leaves like now. With bruce, tom had probably his 2nd and 3rd best passing seasons ever. The guy brings results everywhere he goes x in his younger days, he was the qb coach to peyton manning as a rookie and that year he broke the rookie record for td passes in a season. As the steelers wrs coach from 04-06, they won a super bowl, then took over as the steelers OC from 07-11, and they won the SB in 08, and lost another im 2010. Then the next tear the guy takes over as interim coach of the colts and he finishes 9-3!!! To make the playoffs. Than from 2013-2017 he becomes the cards head coach going 10-6, 11-5 then even making the nfc title game in 2015 with a 13-3 record. Gos worst record with them was 7-8-1. After that he comes to the bucs and we all know what happened then.

My whole point is, is the guy is a football genius and bowles leftswitch, they are not/ i honestly dont know pr care if tom and BA had some sort of disagreement. Its chiildish and they should have def worked that sh$$ out. Im 110% positive that had arians been our hc this year, we would already be in the playoffs because there are just so many close calls this year that we def would have pulled out last year and arians is a huge reason for this. All the close games wouldnt be so close because arians is outstanding at running a high powered offense. Just look at bradys last year in NE, Than he comes to Tampa and all hell breaks loose lol. Its time to get the master back. I can 100% see

  24. Manny Says:

To finish my first comment. I can 100% see us goin deep in playoffa with same roster

  25. sasquatch Says:

He has a home in Georgia, a short plane ride from Tampa. He works with a GM who he gets along well with, and with whom he won a Superbowl. Unless there was some exciting opportunity with different responsibilities than he has now, I don’t see him going to AZ. He’s not going back to coaching, and he pretty much does what he wants with the Bucs. It’s a great gig. Why would he go anywhere else, unless they piss him off and decide to fire Bowles?

  26. Oneilbuc Says:

I can’t wait until Brady is gone so he can take the rest of you fake Patriots fans away.

  27. Oneilbuc Says:

    From my bucs !!!

  28. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    BA will not coach again.

  29. The Anomaly Says:

It doesn’t matter…he’s not doing anything here now

Tom is gone so everyone can mover on.

  30. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Been here longer than you. Will be here long after you are gone.

    NEfan Says:
“The team love for BA was starting to dimish last year when he chased AB off the team”

LOL! So far from the truth…

  32. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Actually, after reading through the above posts…I agree with you. Apologies.

  33. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Oneilbuc, I mean

  34. Buczilla Says:

Arians is easily the best coach in our history and he seems like a great dude. I’d love to keep him involved with our team as long as possible, but I could live with losing him if he’s upset after we (hopefully) fire this entire coaching staff after the season. I think that the only sane reason to keep Todd is if we win a playoff game.

  35. Noles Says:

If he is please take BL & Todd w you

  36. Crickett Baker Says:

Yeah. I know one thing. The Bucs would not still be trying to find their identity under BA. He would have told them who they are and weeded out those who refused to accept it. He is hard on players individually and will not stand for screw-ups.

  37. Oneilbuc Says:

Bonzai. I don’t know about that bro I was here way before Brady even came to the bucs. Brady is washed up and it’s time to move on from Brady but y’all keep begging and hoping for Brady to come back and next year he will be 46 you don’t become a better football player in your 40s you get worse. And think about this you guys are hoping that a 46 year old quarterback comes back and play we have to be the only fan base or team that do that. No other team wanted Brady but the bucs and that’s been confirmed ain’t no other team will sign Brady next year. Other teams know he needs a all star team around him and everything has to be perfect for him to play like a above average quarterback.

  38. SufferingSince76 Says:

Oneilbuc, if you were a true Bucs fan, you would want them to have every advantage possible to win. That includes Brady. But you’d rather they suck. Brady brought the Super Bowl to Tampa, not Winston or any other loser you support. When they do suck next year, can’t wait to hear your take on who’s to blame.

  39. Anonymous Says:

You said the same thing in 2020 O’Neil . You have 0 credibility. Crawl back under your rock.

  40. NEfan Says:

Oneilsuckyall, who is your replacement AGAIN??? You want him gone but all you come up with is your fondness of Jamais (creepy like) and Trask? I would take Brady at 50 over those two.

  41. NEfan Says:

Oneiltobrady, what type of “FAN ???” Wants to see their QB fail?? I’ll tell who, A HATER!!!

  42. Hodad Says:

Jesus Joe, what a reach. Only the Bucs are stupid enough to hire someone from the past Lovie Smith. I think BA has a knack for leaving teams just at the right time before they implode. No one is going to hire a 69 year old with health problems who’s retired like 100 times to turn their franchise around.

  43. unbelievable Says:

What exactly is the Arians coaching tree?

    Toilet Bowles and Byron Halfwit?

Lol. No one else will be that dumb.

  44. Arians4President Says:

Joe, you’re leaving out that Arians wouldn’t have been able to of coached 4+ games this year because of his health alone.
Where exactly did Joe write that Arians would coach the Carinals?–Joe
