Three “I Love You” Hugs For Byron Leftwich

December 22nd, 2022

The Tom Brady-Byron Leftwich bromance was on display for the world to see this week.

The Bucs released another episode of In the Current, their Hard Knocks-ish, G-rated video series that chronicles select team happenings through highlights, exclusive player interviews and sideline and locker room footage seen nowhere else. (It can be found on YouTube and Buccaneers.com).

Of course, Joe watched the episode because Joe is a Bucs fan.

Late in the episode, the Bucs’ in-house cameras caught mic’d up Brady having a tender moment with Leftwich following the comeback win against the Saints. The two are embracing and three times Brady says “I love you” during the extended hug.

Man, Brady sure doesn’t look like a guy having personal issues with his playcaller. Of course, business is business, and Brady may prefer to be just friends with Leftwich rather than colleagues.

But if Leftwich continues to say ‘Screw it,’ (if he said it at all), then who knows what’s next for these two lovebirds.

Meh…Brady loves to win more than anything and was euphoric. He’s stuck with Lefty and pot committed to this team for 2022. When it ends…likely in a dismal fashion…he’ll never set foot in One Buc Place again.

So, Brady loves him some Leftwhichwaydidhego? Love is not usually rooted in failure.

    I dunno, man…

  4. Redeemer Says:

Kinda strange. Brady has forgotten more football than BL will ever know. Agree with Winny, the moment just overcame him. I don’t think he ever said I love you to Bill. Now that I’m in the mood, I love all my brethren here. Merry Christmas and a fruitful and prosperous new year

  5. D-Rok Says:

Merry Christmas to you and your family, also, Redeemer! And to all Bucs fans!!

    Let’s get a Christmas win.

At the end of this episode of In The Current (Great series, love it), listen to Bowle’s after-game speech beating the Saints for 2nd time this season. Boring. DULL.

He needs to start biting off kneecaps.

Brady is owed a mulligan. After last weeks game I swore i was never watching football ever again. 2019 season was so bad but I knew Brady was going to leave patriots so it was fun for me to think about where he would go.

I think this is it for Brady. Last year at this time Brady was on top of the world. Even if there were problems Brady still putting up mvp numbers and the ceiling is the roof for Brady and Bucs ode to Jordan. Brady was a good football decision for any team. Now Gisele divorcing him 24 tabloid drama on Brady no team is going to want that. I blame this season on Gisele. This divorce was the best thing for Giseles career. . When divorce happened media fans all blamed Brady for being selfish. He never said a bad word about Gisele the whole time.

    Have been pondering on this…
BL’s play-calling was adequate LAST year. (albeit with a bunch of all-pro’s not currently playing) I continue to believe with an awesome O-line it will be aGAIN. For those who think Gronk was behind it all, he missed weeks 4-10 with broken ribs/punctured lung, Brady killed it in that 6 week span. If we even end up 8-9 and win the division, and Jensen comes back healthy we have a shot

  17. HC Grover Says:

    At a loss.

  18. D-Rok Says:

Yep, Beej, call me crazy, but I haven’t given up all hope yet. If we don’t make the playoffs, yeah, I’m done, obviously and we all will be.

Just don’t count out Brady and his team just yet – for 15 years, people have been doing that, so until he’s officially done, I think there’s always a sliver of hope on a Brady-led team. Call me optimistic.

  19. Rudy Says:

“Yes there are two paths we can go by, but in the long run, there’s still time to change the road-you’re on….” ~Led Zeppelin

Path one — BL is just incompetent
Path two — Bowles is that idiot who said “We’re not doing the ‘no risk it no biscuit’ anymore”, and has BL shackled. TB12 and BL hug it out in commiseration. I believe it’s both. If BL had one strand of common sense or guts, he calls his true playbook in defiance of Bowles, to save the team, because if the HC is crapping on the team, the right thing to do is expose him by defying this stupid posture we saw in the Bengals 2nd half, where the Bucs lock up in a no-motion, no play-action, run on every first down, WR screen short of the marker prevent offense. The fact is, he’s holding no cards.

Eat what the Glazers are serving. No one in this organization has any chutzpah. Even the most meek, conservative owner would have fired the HC or replaced the OC by now. Look at Man U — these owners are willing to drive an org into the dirt until a fanbase throws a hard mutiny and demands leadership change. Football isn’t football though; otherwise the owners would have felt a greater deal of pressure. No way this coaching debacle would have gone on this long. Disgusting.

  21. AmauryGuzman Says:

Man it’s nice to be able to run the ball. Even the jags can run it. Everyone can run it except this team. Can’t even get a push or be physical enough to run the ball.

  22. steele Says:

Meaningless. Doesn’t mean the play calling isn’t garbage. Doesn’t mean there isn’t disagreement. Brady saying things like “not on the same page” etc. came after the Saints game.

  23. Redeemer Says:

Beeej, in the first three games that Gronk missed, ABs averaged almost 8 catches and 93 yards per game. That helped. Brady also heavily relied on a pre ACL Godwin and big plays from Evans. As you mentioned, the line was vastly superior to this group, and they ran the ball well in most of those games. 4+ YPC in 4 of the 6 games Gronk missed. The biggest difference this year is an inability to make teams pay for playing pass every down. Contrary to popular belief, they have tried to push the ball down the field this year. Going into the Bengals game, Brady ranked 5th in deep shots with 60. For one reason or another, he hasn’t completed many. Holding, guys giving up on routes, or running the wrong route entirely. They out talented teams last year. IMO the reason BL has been exposed is because he doesn’t know anything else. No scheming, no creativity. It’s easy to call offense with superior talent.

  24. D-Rok Says:

    Emphatically agree, Redeemer.

The difference this year, in my opinion, is lack of talent, to be honest. Oh sure, we have some talented players, but not in the right places. I’ve said from Day 1 this O-line isn’t adequate, and I still maintain that position. We have talent, but it’s negated by our O-line, and that’s 1 Licht’s failure, and 2 Coaches failure to coach up the talent Licht gave them.

Licht, Bowles, Leftwich, Brady…order of failure for this year IMO.

    Can they fix it?

  25. Goatfarmer Says:

He said that to Geezahag too. Then he dumped the dud.

  26. captivajim Says:

why did Licht pick up free agent Rudolf , instead of FA Ingram–who played very well tonite for Jacksonville ?

Licht & Bowles are the main problems…

  27. AbucAway Says:

Hahaha wth, Thomas. Don’t want to get benched or something? Maybe Tom’s on board with saying anything to get BL a head coaching gig? Reminds me of an old school commercial… I love you maaaan

  28. Show Me the TDs Says:

I think Brady was getting some side action in Miami during the off season.

    I agree on Bowles.

When Licht was starting out, I was really hard on him here. Since then, he has done a great job and has won me over. He may be the best GM we’ve ever had. Getting rid of him would be a huge mistake.

  30. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    @D-Rok

It took years to build a great offensive line…I think expecting it to be fixed in one year is a stretch. The loss of Marpet, and then Jensen, was a huge blow. Both happened at points where getting good replacements was unlikely.

So, I don’t blame Lich for the oline. I blame circumstances. At least the new guy is working out.

  31. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

New draft pick I mean, of course.
