Star Players Did Not Practice Today
December 15th, 2022Three days before the Bucs face one of the hottest teams in the NFL with a searing offense, the Bucs have three star players who did not practice today, two on defense.
Vita Vea and Jamel Dean did not practice, still nursing injuries from the San Francisco Treat last Sunday. Dean has a bum toe. Vea has a calf injury.
Also, Julio Jones’ knee is barking and did he not practice. Dean, Jones and Vea have not practiced all week.
Carl Nassib, who has been playing well the past two games and should be getting the bulk of the snaps at outside linebacker since he’s actually producing, has yet to practice this week as he has a pec injury.
Tristan Wirfs did return to practice today but yesterday, Bucs coach Todd Bowles didn’t think Wirfs would be able to go on Sunday. Wirfs was limited in practice.
December 15th, 2022 at 5:16 pm
Please let Vita rest! We need him healthy for our divisional games.
December 15th, 2022 at 5:20 pm
Do not play players who are hurt……they won’t be effective……let them heal….we need them for our last 2 games……
December 15th, 2022 at 5:29 pm
We need them for our last 2 games? Hahaha, like any of this matters?!?! We aren’t going anywhere — this team is a complete TURD with no hopes of playoff success if we somehow manage to hold onto the division. Best thing would be to just sit the injured guys, avoid further injuries, and park the ph0uecking car. This season is done.
December 15th, 2022 at 5:31 pm
So many wussy quitters on this team. Whether he should have or not JPP played all last season with a damaged shoulder. This team is soft. Brady played the entire 2020 season with a bad knee. Let Thompkins take Jones spot, give the kid a shot.
December 15th, 2022 at 5:41 pm
Rest everyone that is even remotely questionable- this is a L – heal up for the final 3 game run and let’s all pray for a Holiday miracle
December 15th, 2022 at 5:46 pm
The way this is shaping up, definitely an L. I would say less than 10% the Bucs win this game.
IF all our starters were healthy? I give it 40% chance we win, based on the way we’ve played last 9 games.
I hope the Bucs team wakes up and plays the remaining 3 games (after this Cincy loss) with a sense of pride, a sense of urgency, a sense of Hellz Naw, We aint going out like this.
It’s all hope at this point.
December 15th, 2022 at 5:52 pm
Would anyone noticed if they send it in?
December 15th, 2022 at 5:54 pm
Bucs win 28-17
December 15th, 2022 at 5:59 pm
Even more reason I rejoice that I gave my $500 Hyundai Club tickets to a friend. It has been unbearable watching this team, and that includes through the first two years they existed (0-26), through the 80s and much of the 90s, through Freeman, Glennon, Lovie/McKown, and Schiano/Dirk/Winston. Ugh. Go Bucs!
December 15th, 2022 at 6:01 pm
I’m sure Cappa is filling in the Bengals on Tampa’s offense. Then again, he doesn’t need to. Everyone knows the Bucs’ offense.
December 15th, 2022 at 6:55 pm
NE,
Love the optimism, and I hope you are right. Is it possible we win? Yes. Is it likely?
December 15th, 2022 at 7:05 pm
LOL…..*sigh*
Yeah…planning on working Sunday and not watching NFL until 7:30pm.
Less stress. Feels like winning!
Godspeed to you watching the debacle…er….”game”….*snicker*
December 15th, 2022 at 7:08 pm
Think it’s time to move wirfs next season to left tackle and trade Donnie. Draft another right tackle in the draft or sign a vet
December 15th, 2022 at 7:11 pm
Winning is not watching this hideous team play.
December 15th, 2022 at 7:25 pm
Going undefeated through the Super Bowl!!!
December 15th, 2022 at 7:29 pm
2 seasons in a row of non stop injuries.
And this doesn’t include guys like Evans, a Fournette and Brady who are all playing through injuries.
What about Edwards and Winfield?
December 15th, 2022 at 7:30 pm
Brother D-Rok, I think NE was being facetious. Our beloved bucs are going to get punked again. I have the bottle in my desk all ready to go. It’s like watching a train wreck in slow mo. Thankfully my brain will be numb before kickoff. This way, the beat down won’t hurt as much. Go Bucs. Just Go away.
December 15th, 2022 at 7:31 pm
I have no faith we will win so I’m going to set record on my DVR and later on, if I check the score and we won I will watch it and if not I will delete. I’m tired of torchering myself with these terrible games.
December 15th, 2022 at 7:42 pm
Proud, that sounds like a plan.
December 15th, 2022 at 7:55 pm
Redeemer,
I know bro, I know. I have a special wine all lined up for this weekend – I know we are gonna get slaughtered, but dang, if I could channel my inner Brady and hope for an undefeated run to win the SB this year….yeah. Not.
I will do my best to not excessively drink during the next 4 games, or bite my nails off. If I were smart, I’d just not watch, but I can’t. Gotta watch.
Hoping for a miracle, and Brady will then ride off into the sunset. If the Bucs win the SB this year, it will be the most historic season in NFL history.
December 15th, 2022 at 7:58 pm
Rest Leftwich and Bowells this week
December 15th, 2022 at 8:08 pm
I’m surprised that there are still fans who are hanging on to winning anything this year. Barring a complete and unforeseen turnaround on offense, we will not advance even if we manage to win the division. This team needs to be put out of its misery ASAFP.
December 15th, 2022 at 8:12 pm
Bucs need everyone healthy for their play-off run.
Stranger things have happened.
December 15th, 2022 at 8:12 pm
Dean needs to suck it up. I’ve got a bad toe from kicking the TV during the last game but I’m going to suck it up and be ready to do it again this week.
December 15th, 2022 at 8:15 pm
Redeemer, no sir, I still believe!
December 15th, 2022 at 8:15 pm
We are going to curbstomp Cincy and I will be there as always. This could be a preview of the Superbowl
December 15th, 2022 at 8:33 pm
Wow, @Buccos, that’s some delusional shyte. I think it’s more likely Santa’s sleigh lands on my roof and delivers me Kay Adams on Christmas morning.
December 15th, 2022 at 8:49 pm
NE, I hope you’re right.
December 15th, 2022 at 9:11 pm
Just found a fascinating stat on Pro-Football-Reference in ‘Advanced Passing’ that was 100% consistent in our wins & losses: Bad Throws. First time I’d ever noticed that stat.
In every win, Tom Brady had fewer bad throws than the opposing QB. The reverse was true in every loss though.
Brady’s ‘bad throws’ in some of our losses were quite high, and seemed to track with the ‘Pressures’ that were put on him (ie, more pressures, more bad throws).
SF game was a good illustration. Brady was charged with 13 bad throws; Purdy had 3. Brady was pressured 8 times; Purdy 4 times.
Despite that though, Brady’s Bad Throws Percentage (16.5%) is the lowest it’s been in the past 5 years. His On-Target Percentage (77.1%) is the highest it’s been in the past 5 years. Sounds to me like when the OLine can give him time, he can get the job done. Unfortunately in our losses, our OLine had trouble keeping the pressure off of him.
December 15th, 2022 at 9:11 pm
They have more of a chance vs. Bengals than 49ers. And Bengals have not been great all season. If Bengals have an off day, and Brady gets pissed, goes off script and yanks another one out of them in the closing minutes, who knows. The problem is Bowles doing his typical best to not properly mobilize a team.
December 15th, 2022 at 9:16 pm
Kentucky Buc … I pity your poor TV. I’ve heard of Turf Toe, but never TV Toe.
I for one hope that they let Dean heal up. Without him, we’ll have a bear of a time against the Saints, Panthers & Carolina. We need him healthy. Hate to say it, but beating the Bengals will be near impossible with the number of injured players that we have right now. Bengals are neck-and-neck with the Ravens (both at 9-4) and will certainly want this one badly. Sounds doubtful that Wirfs, Vea, Dean, Winfield & probably a couple others will play. Without Vea, we’ll have a bear of a time stopping their run game.
December 15th, 2022 at 9:20 pm
I’m sure most Bucs fans were hoping for a Ryan Jenson return right about at this point of the season. I’m no doctor but if a knee sprain with nothing torn, shouldn’t he be ready by now? I’m not hearing he had surgery to repair the knee.
December 15th, 2022 at 9:32 pm
Sasquatch. My version of events is much more fun than yours. Plus I don’t want to be Debbie Downer like u guys. Plus I have season tickets and these last 2 home games have been phenomenal. I believe we will continue to defend our ship admirably. And you would have lost everything betting against the GOAT over the years
December 15th, 2022 at 9:45 pm
sick of this teams attitude we are not making the playoffs surprise the panthers are the ones with the momentum and we are the ones with the stupid play caller and the lazy left tackle
December 15th, 2022 at 9:47 pm
Let’s goo Bucs last week sucked but I’m not hoping we just give up the rest of the season for a better draft spot. We are still leading the south which is wild with our record. Hopefully when the lights get brighter in post season these guys actually turn it on. We know they can they know they can they just gotta do it
December 15th, 2022 at 9:51 pm
RGA: center is not the problem with the offensive line IT IS DONOVAN SMITH did you not see his penalties and continuous lack of effort causing him to just grab, take down and fall on top?
coaching doing NOTHING to correct this–many games of this sh!t play–not one more game of watching the stoic todd bowles–PLEASE PLEASE FIRE THIS MAN! If the Chargers had a Joechargers fan I would be done with the Bucs quickly. Honestly it is the Joes website that keeps me bucs fan at this point.
we are not making the playoffs and it is not my fault
December 15th, 2022 at 10:05 pm
I wished we played zone like the 49ers play zone. The bucs are awful in zone.
December 15th, 2022 at 10:19 pm
Feeling slightly less bad about the Bucs loss after watching the Niners whip the Seahawks too.
Slightly.
It all starts in the trenches… and our trenches are soft AF.
December 15th, 2022 at 10:37 pm
It doesnt matter who plays or who doesnt.
Bucs cant beat the Bengals.
They will beat The Falcons and the Panthers, winning the division
Just exactly like I said, back in the first week of preseason.
Posted on JoeBuc
8-9. Win the division.
Some of you are surprised about this season.
Not me. You dont lose that many pro bowlers, and not suck.
December 15th, 2022 at 10:56 pm
Purity throws a good ball, to wide open receivers. Really why can’t we have guys wide open. Shanahan and Reid could make any QB look great.
December 15th, 2022 at 11:06 pm
@Capt.Tim 6-7 is ridiculous for this team. There’s still talent on this team. This is all coaching and horrible game planning. Lack of accountability etc. Bowles is a horrible coach and LW is clueless. I think the lack of a running game has hurt this team big time. Anyway if they get smoked on sunday someone needs to be fired. BL would be out of a job if he was on another team. Offense hasn’t gotten any better since the start of the season.
December 15th, 2022 at 11:20 pm
Amaury, the offense has gotten worse since start of the season.
December 16th, 2022 at 12:14 am
If the Bucs beat the Cardinals, Falcons and panthers, Todd Bowles probably keeps his job. They cannot beat the Bengals. They are on a roll and a good football team.If Todd screws around and loses 3 of the last 4? He gets dumped in the bay
December 16th, 2022 at 1:33 am
Mike Johnson: I think you are right about Bowels, he will keep his job with the Bucs 8-10 after losing to Dallas or whoever is the #1 wildcard team in the NFC playoffs but if he goes 6-11 he could get canned but that would be a first for the Glazers. One thing is sure, Leftwich is gone no matter what but who wants to work under Bowels as a replacement for Byron? Its a worse job than almost any coordinator job in the league except for perhaps the OC job in Denver and they will be overhauling their entire coaching staff this off season just as the Bucs should as they are the other team in the NFL who have grossly under performed as a direct result of sub par/terrible coaching.
December 16th, 2022 at 1:37 am
unbelievable: the Seahawks have come back to Earth since their loss to Tampa. They are another bad team like Tampa that will go 7-10 or so. They recently have lost to Carolina and Vegas who scored 30 and 40 on them while the Bucs could only get to 21. Heck, Carolina is my pick to win the division now. You can bet Bowels and Leftwich will probably let the Bucs get swept by them which could give Carolina a tiebreaker over the Bucs.
December 16th, 2022 at 1:53 am
Bengals by 20.
December 16th, 2022 at 7:59 am
Slim Vita Vea down to 310-320lbs and increase his snap count, why is this manbeast a part-timer? I don’t recall Sapp being part-time, nor Brooks, either. Repetition fosters continuity, strengthening resolve to win your one-on-ones. IMHO, while rotating players has benefit, the offset is fractured focus. Back to Vita; can anyone explain why he isn’t used in our offence, not as a blocker, but as a ball carrier. VV played TE in high school. Go on, I’m listening…yeah, crickets. William ‘The Fridge’ Perry showed Tampa how this is done a long time ago, as did Donald Penn. Notably our Bucs lost each of those games. So if your are telling me VV cannot truck TE a defender I’m not listening. BTW, that post game video of a shirtless, flabby Vea showing out was what prompted this fan rant. Lastly, I think JTS is a bit light in the pants for his position. He needs to bulk up. Picture this: setup a sturdy playground seesaw. Set JTS on one seat and Vea opposite. When the seesaw strikes even you have two vastly improved players. Just a thought.
Go Bucs!
December 16th, 2022 at 8:11 am
Excuses for losing out.
December 16th, 2022 at 11:46 am
Burrow is going to eat our depleted Secondary alive. Watch out for a couple back-breaking explosives. The Bucs stink this year.
December 16th, 2022 at 4:05 pm
@Matt P the bucs are horribly coached this year. A good coach would have figure this out by now and the Bucs would be 9-4 at best.
