Gameday Tampa Bay
December 5th, 2022Game 12
Slimy Saints (4-8) at Bucs (5-6)
Kickoff: 8:15 p.m.
TV: BSPN.
Streaming: NFL+, ESPN+ and Buccaneers.com (Geographic restrictions apply).
Radio: Buccaneers Radio Network WXTB-FM 97.9 in the Tampa-St. Petersburg region (Transmisiones de radio en español en WTMP-FM 96.1 y WMGG-AM 1470 en Tampa). Additional stations throughout Florida on the Buccaneers Radio Network can be found here. The game also will be broadcast on SiriusXM Channel 225(Buccaneers Radio Network broadcast). Westwood One national radio feed can be heard on SiriusXM NFL Radio Channel 88.
Weather: Per AccuWeather.com, nice Florida football weather. Tailgaters will enjoy temperatures in the mid-70s and by the time kickoff happens, you are looking at 69 degrees. When the game ends, temperatures will drop slightly to 66. There is no precipitation expected today or tonight.
Odds: Per BetMGM, as of midnight last night, Bucs -3; over/under 41.
Referees: Clay Martin and his outfit will work tonight’s game. This crew is notorious for defensive pass interference and defensive holding, per Sharp Football Analysis. However, his crew appears to be friendly to pass rushers as Martin’s gang doesn’t like throwing flags on hitting quarterbacks. Home teams are 23-34-1 against the spread when Martin works games.
Injuries: Slimy Saints — Out: S P.J. Williams (knee), CB Marshon Lattimore (abdomen), DT Malcolm Roach (illness), CB Bradley Roby (concussion), DT Kentavius Street (illness), LB Pete Werner (ankle), S J.T. Gray (hamstring), TE Juwan Johnson (ankle), DE Payton Turner (ankle). Questionable: WR Kevin White Bucs — Out: RT Tristan Wirfs (ankle). Doubtful: DB Mike Edwards (hamstring), CB Sean Murphy-Bunting (quad), S Antoine Winfield (ankle). Questionable: TE Cam Brate (illness), RB Leonard Fournette (hip), WR Russell Gage (hamstring), LG Luke Goedeke (foot), DT Akiem Hicks (foot), NT Vita Vea (foot).
Outlook: The way the Bucs ended regulation last week and then lost two key starters in overtime, which didn’t have to happen, it really zapped Joe of a lot of enthusiasm. Why should Joe believe the Bucs offense will magically come to life tonight when it hasn’t all year playing on American soil? (Can the Bucs play the rest of the regular season in Munich?) When you throw right tackle Tristan Wirfs was thrown away for weeks due to the irresponsibility of those who would rather play for overtime and rip the ball out of the hands of the greatest quarterback who ever played, well, that said it all about the Bucs’ direction this year. Or lack thereof. Playing it safe cost the Bucs two key starters, rather, playing irresponsilby. Oh, and Josh Wells will start in place of Wirfs trying to block Cam Jordan. Joy to the world! ‘Tis the season. With the exception of two games (one a loss) the Bucs offense looks like it is in slow motion and Mike Glennon is the quarterback. Joe doesn’t know specifically why, but it sure isn’t the same as the previous six seasons and guys on offense are starting to play like they are disconnected from coaches. And when your coach displays such a public distrust of an offense led by proud men such as Tom Brady, why exactly should fans expect the players to be all-in if their coach isn’t? That’s just human nature. Of course, Joe wants the Bucs to win but after last week and seeing how this offense plays as if it is an NFL Films slow-motion video, “this Joe” isn’t expecting it. Joe cannot ever remember being this depressed entering a Monday Night Football game. Please Bucs, surprise Joe and everyone else watching. Score 30 points. Joe is confident Bucs coaches will not be internally fined thousands of dollars by Team Glazer if the Bucs offense scores three or more touchdowns. It’s not a sin, folks.
Fun facts: No team has more takeaways in one game than what the Bucs did to the slimy Saints back in Week 2 when the two teams last met. The Bucs had five takeaways that day. Entering this weekend’s games, Dallas, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are tied with the Bucs in having a five-takeaway game this season. … The Bucs are winless at home against the spread. The slimy Saints are winless on the road against the spread.

Go Under 41-Easy Money-These two teams couldn’t score 41 if they played a doubleheader.
December 5th, 2022 at 2:13 pm
Is the game not on any local channels?
December 5th, 2022 at 2:15 pm
Usually is but Joe never received any press releases.
Who doesn’t have BSPN?
December 5th, 2022 at 2:19 pm
Lattimore not playing is big. Maybe Evans will have his head in the game tonight.
December 5th, 2022 at 2:28 pm
Bucs need to win to have any slight chance at a 3rd seed.
December 5th, 2022 at 2:39 pm
Is that Reese Witherspoon?🤔
December 5th, 2022 at 2:42 pm
Hmmmmm no Lattimore?????
Saints missing a bunch of DB’s as well…….
They need to take some deep shots tonite especially if these refs like to call a lot of DPI….
December 5th, 2022 at 2:56 pm
Panthers just released Mayfield. Wow. Maybe Frisco gets interested with Garoppolo out.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:07 pm
don’t be a scaredy cat tonight coach bowles…
rock out with your c*ck out !
December 5th, 2022 at 3:08 pm
Saints D has some players out, including Lattimore. That means no brawls this game.
GO BUCS!!!
December 5th, 2022 at 3:09 pm
According to online tv guide tampa its on ABC at 8 I guess I will check and see tonight.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:20 pm
Again, all I ask/hope for is the Bucs to play well, win or lose. Please give us fans a reason to have hope for the rest of the season by being competitive – show us some fire!
I hope the Bucs want it more, GO BUCS!!!
December 5th, 2022 at 3:20 pm
, Lattimore’s absence is huge. If the bucs lose this game, I may need a straightjacketet. Mrs. Redeemer has already been instructed to call the authorities if she sees me crying in the corner in the fetal position.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:22 pm
Brother D-Rok is listed as my emergency contact.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:39 pm
Redeemer,
Don’t you get the sense this is must-win game, or at least play much better? If the Bucs stink the joint up (again), man I dunno, just not much hope, even with the talent we have.
Call me if you need to talk you off the ledge tonight, bro. LOL.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:40 pm
And Mrs. D-Rok has the diazepam lined up and ready to go, just in case.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:43 pm
And I promised not to call Lettucenotwin the moniker “Leftnut” anymore. I’m trying to be a better man. Just don’t hold me to it.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:46 pm
I don’t have BSPN. Haven’t had cable in 15 years. Its why I visit here, Joe. You do the dirty work.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:51 pm
mg,
If you can’t watch the game, you can see play-by-play updates on CBS Sports Game Tracker. I’ve had to “watch” a few games via the internet cuz they didn’t show the game up here in NC. Hope this helps.
December 5th, 2022 at 3:55 pm
Lattimore is listed as questionable, not out.
December 5th, 2022 at 4:02 pm
They make it hard to watch a hard to watch team. I am on radio to spare my eyes of this upcoming debacle. This is the season crossroads. Radio is much less aggrivating because you can not see the Buc Blunders. It is easy to hear the sugar coated commentary.
December 5th, 2022 at 4:23 pm
Tank the season. Must force Bowles out.
December 5th, 2022 at 4:28 pm
D-Rok, absolutely a must win. Probably not in the classical sense, as the division is an abomination. Trying to maintain optimism with this bunch is akin to Lucy and Charlie Brown. Bucs 20-13? Let’s go!!!!!
December 5th, 2022 at 4:30 pm
If the Bucs win tonite, Brady as QB will be 20-8 on MNF, tying Marino for most wins on MNF in NFL history.
December 5th, 2022 at 4:31 pm
It’s a “must-win” if this team hopes to salvage this season in any significant way.
December 5th, 2022 at 4:33 pm
I have two tickets priced at 99 each, section 122 row L 19,20……I’m out of state and my son broke his ankle, we were planning to go
December 5th, 2022 at 4:36 pm
Monday, Sunday, and Thursday, night football have become cumbersome. The cable channels have ruined the fun. Monday Night on ABC was really good with Cosell and Dandy Don. I reuse to pay for worthless cable TV. Remember the days of local blackouts. Now it is over the air blackouts. I am losing interest fast in this baloney.
December 5th, 2022 at 4:48 pm
Opponents love to play at RAY JAY it has the best field in the NFL. That takes away the normal 2 point home team advantage.
December 5th, 2022 at 5:00 pm
Agree with Sasquatch…tank it. No more lefty and toilet bowl
December 5th, 2022 at 5:05 pm
Management has really let this team down. Leftwich should have been fired weeks ago.
December 5th, 2022 at 5:07 pm
Here’s to hoping the stench of Bowels doesn’t spoil the Bucs from a win tonight!
December 5th, 2022 at 5:39 pm
It’s on bay area ABC
December 5th, 2022 at 5:54 pm
thanks D-Rok.
December 5th, 2022 at 5:56 pm
The Glazers will not fire Bowles after only one year, regardless of how bad it gets. He’s here two years minimum. Sadly.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:04 pm
No reason for godecke to play when we have leverette. He should sit the rest of the year and take notes, build strength and see how its done. Not everyone is a freak and can be at pro bowl level as a rookie like wirfs.
Whats the deal with logan ryan??? I def think he should be playing by now and we really really really need him with winfield, edwards and smb out. Russel gage should toughen up and play tonight as well. We need all the help we can get
I think with wirfs out, we should use a rb and full back package every play and have the full back blocking jordan. We need cam jordan doubled all game
December 5th, 2022 at 6:20 pm
Ok !
My week of bitching is over
Go Bucs !
December 5th, 2022 at 6:27 pm
HC, I remember those days well. I was an army brat, so whenever my old man moved us, I had to glom onto a new team. As a kid, I gravitated towards the teams that were on the most. In the 80s that was the 49ers. I do like the Sunday night game. Thursday night football is a horrible product.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:29 pm
When the NFL took football off the 3 networks over the air to the cable it is as appealing as pay toilets.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:34 pm
I don’t have BSPN. Don’t pay for satellite or cable. Never will.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:39 pm
When the NFL came to Tampa they tore down 3 fun things for the kids.
Loch Ness Par 3 Golf Course
20th Century Drive in Movies
Al Lopez Baseball Field ( Home of the Tampa Tarpons team
They built the Old Sombrero on the land.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:47 pm
@Joe – Sorry to go off topic, but I’ve been wondering this for quite awhile….
You’ve gone into detail about your thoughts on Byron Leftwich at press conferences and his ability / inability to answer questions / communicate clearly.
Follow up questions:
(1) In your many years of covering football, who is your best comparison?
(2) Do you think he still is coaching in the NFL in 5 years?
Monday Night Predictions:
– Do not ever bet against Brady
– Bucs run game stinks once again
– Defense is solid, once again. Especially the run D
– 1 to 2 picks for the Bucs D
– On the O, big games for Hainsey, Otten, and Quintorris
– Unsung hero of the game – L.David
– For change, this one is not close. Low 30’s to high teens / low 20’s is the final, with some garbage time points from the Saints to make the score seem closer than the game truly is.
December 5th, 2022 at 6:59 pm
Full Moon right over Ray Jay for the game.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:21 pm
History dictated the Bucs’ future way back in week 2 when they beat the Saints. The Bucs have zero chance of winning the Superbowl even if their offense finds a miracle cure.
The ONLY times the Bucs have won the Superbowl they lost to the Saints both times in the regular season. We should have seen this train wreck coming long ago.
All that said, GO BUCS! I’m still rooting for a win tonight!
December 5th, 2022 at 7:28 pm
Redeemer,
Small world bro. I watched the Niners in the 80’s also, since I lived in Cali back then. Back then, I thought nothing would ever match Montana, and Rice. Still my fave QB/WR duo of all time.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:56 pm
D-Rok, you know it brother. Remember the 92 season, when Montana returned for a meaningless Monday night game against the Lions, and lit up old candlestick? Young was MVP that year. My heart felt ripped out in the NFC title game. The dynamic between those two was incredible. Bill Walsh actually fostered a QB controversy. Who knows, had he still been there, Joe might have actually seen some action in that title game.
December 5th, 2022 at 7:56 pm
Mr Butthole toilet bowl will stink this game away…Pack it in fellas it was a hell of 2 years.
December 5th, 2022 at 8:00 pm
After last week, I don’t think I can watch.
I’ve done the math, they (the offense) have played a total of 4 good halves and one 44 second drive
One 1/2 against Cowboys
One 1/2 against Saints
One 1/2 against Atlanta
44 seconds against LA
One 1/2 against Seattle
That is pretty much it. That is what the offense has accomplished when it matters all year.
December 5th, 2022 at 8:05 pm
I just saw Darden on the sidelines YAWNING!! geeze
December 5th, 2022 at 8:05 pm
Yeah man, Redeemer, that back n forth with Montana/Young, then them meeting. Walsh. Mariucci. Oh man that was epic stuff, but I didn’t realize how epic it was until years later. Now, I can appreciate it.
December 5th, 2022 at 8:07 pm
Then later I saw Parcells and then Belichick. The common theme with all these coaches/players? Brady.
December 5th, 2022 at 8:10 pm
Where’s the game thread?
December 5th, 2022 at 8:15 pm
Joe has really never dealt with a guy on a regular basis who doesn’t answer questions/gives non-answers like Leftwich. Doesn’t make him a bad guy. Just makes it hard to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Can’t really answer that. Guessing yes, but hopefully not with the Bucs.
December 5th, 2022 at 9:38 pm
Well, we know where Joe stands on BL
