Todd Bowles Talks Worthless Tom Brady Receiver Skills
November 15th, 2022Sunday’s trick play that never should have been called on a slick field, let alone actually thrown to a 45-year-old quarterback, was on Todd Bowles’ mind today.
The head coach was assessing his quarterback and was asked on the Buccaneers Radio Network about the Leonard Fournette interception that targeted Tom Brady on the left flank — as Fournette foolishly threw the ball when he had pressure in his face and Brady was covered.
So should Brady get more time at receiver, Coach?
“Not even in a 5-year-old and under league,” Bowles said with a smile in his voice.
On a more serious front, Bowles earnestly praised Brady’s game for his downfield throws and great command. “He engineered the game I thought perfectly, for the most part,” Bowles said.
The one big hiccup was Brady’s interception over the middle that left him three pass attempts shy of the all-time record for most consecutive throws without an interception.
If I don’t slip that’s Randy over the top for 6… https://t.co/HzATNjIW8A

Well honestly, if Brady caught that ball, he could have been easily flattened by a bigger, younger linebacker and it possibly put Brady in a stretcher and eventually, end our season.

Thats a play that you run when you have a jaymiss winston not a tom brady

I for one am not mad at the call. No guts, no glory

I didn’t see him get frustrated and throw the ball into the dirt at all. I hope he stays this way, his little tantrums weren’t a good look.
That was the ugliest part of an ugly field that he slipped on, so maybe another try, not.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.
It just turned out to be one those “what was I thinking” moments. I’ve had a buncha those.

Bucs are formidable with a healthy Hicks. Makes all the difference. NFL teams can with SB’s with a dominant d line, average QB and and excellent coaching. Bucs still struggling with the scheme on offense. Shore that up, keep Hicks healthy, get a little lucky, and the Bucs are in the SB. The NFC is weak. Time to strike!

Really nothing to joke about here! Maybe coach you should start taking these games a little more seriously!

Here’s the funny thing. The Patriots ran a variation of that play with Brady against the eagles. Can’t remember if it was Amendola or Edelman throwing. Anyway, Brady stayed much closer to the line, until he drifted into the flat. The “QB” hit him for a 20 yard gain or something. I heard Brady was yelling “NO LENNY”

I still loves me some tricky plays.

There were still a lot of miscues in that game, missed blocks, bad route, bad throw, bad play calls… And that was one of them.
I get that it was wide-open the first time so they decide to come back to it but you come back to it in the next quarter, not a few plays later. Dumb.

A perfect picture of BLs lack of play calling prowess… Why again on the same drive? you need to run a couple variations off it before coming back to that play. Poor play call. Execution was hilarious.

We complain that there was no risk it, no biscuit.
They risked it. To me, that’s a step in the right direction. It was a kick to see. Sure, I never want to see it again, but I didn’t mind the play at all. It showed Leftwich grew a pair.
And to be fail, the first time they ran it, the Seahawks did not even put anyone on Brady at all.

To be fair I meant

Bonzai, that is exactly why you don’t run it again, Seattle’s DC was well aware Brady didn’t get covered the first time and I’m sure he told the DB not to ignore Brady. The frustrating part was Bucs were near the 20 going in for a minimum of 3 points and a TD puts the game away. BL just doesn’t get it, same scenario in GB game, O is driving and like getting hit by a 2×4 across the forehead, double reverse with backup players for a huge loss and drive killer. He also has to stop with the run up the middle on 1st & 20 after a penalty.

Sure, Let’s put a 45 year old brady out wide to catch a pass and then let some safety who is trying to make a name for himself come and head butt him out of bounds and put brady in concussion protocol!

How hard is it to recognize what the problem with that call was?
It was the second f’ing time they called it. Trick plays are one and done unless your playing Mother Martha’s School for the Mentally Infirm. M’kay???
