Sights Set On The No. 3 Seed

November 13th, 2022

Now that the Bucs are good again, and they’re entering a bye week to smooth out the edges and get healthy, there’s no reason the Bucs can’t beat a hefty chunk of the teams in front of them.

They are as follows:

Browns, Saints, 49ers, Bengals, Cardinals, Panthers and Falcons. Only the Bengals have a winning record.

Can the Bucs finish 5-2 or 6-1 and finish 10-7 or 11-6?

Tampa Bay now owns a potential No. 3 seed tiebreaker with the NFC West-leading Seahawks (6-4). That could loom huge. If the Bucs finish as the No. 4 seed, then they take on the top Wild Card team at home and head to the No. 1 seed (Philly?) on the road in the division round of the playoffs. That’s not ideal.

Joe wants that No. 3 seed. Hell, maybe even No. 2.

They need to get on a rolled here. Win the next two games before the big game against the niners. Either way the bucs need start thinking about seeding. I prefer to play the Vikings on the road than let’s say the iggles.

  2. Fernando Says:

Where all the ones saying Pete Carroll would be the difference?

One game at a time….let’s beat the Browns

  4. BucU Says:

Thank u for winning this game!

  5. Elita Vita Says:

Sapp needs to talk weekly to this team…. Loved so many rookies stepping up!
Loved the overall effort. Finally an entertaining game.

  6. Rod Munch Says:

Joe, were you the one during the game posting in the comments about how many more passes Brady has until he breaks the INT record?

How about we just make the playoffs.

I mean literally a week ago people were talking about the 1st pick in the draft, now, one week later, it’s if we can get the 3rd seed in the playoffs.

The swings around here are ridiculous.

The Bucs just need to get into the playoffs, and if they’re hot, it doesn’t matter what seed they are, as they proved in 2020.

  7. Nickster82 Says:

    Huge win….
    Statement game
    Let’s go Bucs

  8. DungyDance Says:

The guys deserve an extra couple days in Munich to celebrate. They earned it, go have some fun. Also, we definitely need to start playing John Denver at home games.

  9. Buc1987 Says:

But beano told us they need to bench Brady and start Trask because the season was over.

    What a goober!

  10. Moodle Says:

Can’t post anything on here about joe. He just gets salty. Rod Munch is top comment

  11. Lamarcus Says:

Good win but 5-5 ….500 teams are not good. Average

  12. Jaybuc Says:

Leftwich still needs to go! Trick plays when you are moving the ball? Teams who think the are playing a better team resort to trick plays. Give credit to him for one really good play call(finally). The fake screen to Julio had both Evans and Godwin open. Props to o-line for opening some good holes.

  13. Rod Munch Says:

Buc1987 – Beano is literally a troll, literally. He’s the definition of a troll, he just posts stupid stuff to get people to respond to him. Why would you bring up his name? Now you just activated him, and he’s going to reappear like Beetlejuice.

  14. unbelievable Says:

I almost wish we had 1 more game before the bye, as we seem to be getting into a good flow… Almost.

  15. Rod Munch Says:

Jaybuc – yeah, but you’re wrong about Leftwich… he ran the same trick play TWICE in the span of a few plays, thinking everyone is as dumb as he is, and they wouldn’t remember that 3 plays earlier Brady was open, and this time, make adjustments. Plus, even if Brady is open, that’s like a 4 yard gain. It was an incredibly stupid play the first time, but running it twice, thinking the defense would fall for it again, that’s why he should be fired. Well, that, and the rest of the season before this game.

  16. geno711 Says:

Seattle back to their bad – Peteball playcalling this game.

Bucs won both lines of scrimmage today.

Bucs smarter for arriving a day later than Seattle. Now give them a day in Germany after the game. The Bucs’ sports science staff gave each player sleep glasses and sleeping methods to adjust leading up to the game.

Apparently, Seattle staff could not even figure out what cleats to wear.

The Bucs will finish ahead of Seattle.

  17. Rod Munch Says:

unbelievable – I think it’s actually good timing. The Bucs barely held on in this game, which should have been a blowout. What they should do, what I hope they do, is have Arians come in and read Bowls and Leftwich the riot act, how he left them with a SB-level team and they’ve screwed it all up with their awful coaching. He should yell at Leftwich to stop being so g-d predictable and put teams away, and he should yell at Bowles for being such a coward on defense and letting teams back into games by playing soft passive zone defense when you were shutting them down the entire day before that.

Of course none of that will happen, and we’ll all get excited by rumors that the Bucs will change things up coming out of the break, only to see Leftwich run up the middle for 1 yard to open the next game.

  18. geno711 Says:

    Agree with Munch.

Can’t believe we are talking about playoffs, this is why we don’t quit!…I’m going to call you Mr Bowels for now on,great job coach you kicked their asses today sir!!!!loving it!!!!

Nice win. But will have so see more consistency before I can feel this team has a chance to do something special in regular the post season.

Brady needs 8 more passes without an INT to break Rodgers record.

Does anyone know if Brady overtook Rodgers yet on consecutive pass attempts without INT?

    ——-

Let’s remember all those who jinxed Brady, made him lose the record because they couldn’t keep their mouths shut for a few more plays.

  22. Deeez NATZ Says:

John Denver at the Ray Jay would be epic! What a win!

  23. Miller5252 Says:

They looked really good until Brady’s pick. Other than that, they had a heck of a game shutting down a top offense in the league. They didn’t get over 50 yards rushing, which is crazy for a Carrol offense. 2 in a row before the break. Let’s see em get healthy and continue being undefeated up to the playoffs.

  24. Dooley Says:

Focus on securing the NFC South first. We do that, it’s an easier equation for us to get into the postseason. In the mean time, rest, reps, and prep. It’s a 7 game season from here on out, we’ve got to beat ATL, Carolina, NO and start putting together more games like this one. Great way to go into a bye, and I’m sure they’ll take this plane ride back at .500 much better than had they dropped to 4-6. We’ve still got some say on finishing this season strong and having it matter.

  25. dmatt Says:

    Rod munch,
I agree, the defense was ready for the pass on the second trick play cause they left Brady alone on the first trick play that resulted into a run. My 15 yr old said I would’ve never thrown that pass dad cause the defense knew what was coming. If anything, the pass should’ve been thrown on the first truck play. I’m not sold on smb, he’s a dud. For the second week in a row, Bucs run defense played lights out. Give kudos to the our OL run game, especially to Rachaad White, a star in the making. CGodwin is slowly coming back to form n Julio is valuable. Please tell Scotty no need to jump in the air for a ball that’s well within arms reach, he almost dropped that pass. Otton is a name to reckon with. Hicks had a few penalties but he’s a difference maker. DWhite is stepping up.

  26. unbelievable Says:

@Rod – I will say the playcalling was a little better today. But only a little.

Still some terrible calls and waaaaay too predictable on 1st down again (pretty sure we only had 1st down playcall that wasn’t a run). Why he doesn’t do play action more often on 1st, considering every team expects a run, is beyond me.

Thank god the o-line started blocking better. That was the biggest difference today: the o-line.

  27. DungyDance Says:

I’m concentrating hard now. … Jinxing Rod …. Done! How you feeling Rod?

  28. SufferingSince76 Says:

    Let’s win the division first.

  29. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Rob still feels like a douche, that’s why he keeps trolling.

  30. Sean Says:

It shows the difference between a good king (Brady) vs. a mad king (Rogers). Bucs are steadying the ship and saving their season. The Packers are collapsing with recriminations all around. I still think the team has deep issues but they’ve got a bye week to work on them.

  31. JimmyJack Says:

The Bucs first gotta seal up the division. That Saints game in December is key. Win that we own the division. The Falcolns dont worry me. I dont expect them to keep pace with us if we can keep playing like today.

  32. Jaybuc Says:

@Rod Munch— we agree. Brady was open on first play but good, well coached teams will see it also and make adjustments. It was terrible call especially at that point in the game when they were moving the ball. His middle name should be Byron “predictable” Leftwich

  33. adam from ny Says:

seattle is lucky if they finish 10-7…probably 9-8…they’ve peaked already imho…

get the, boys the hell outta dodge…no need to stick around and party on foreign soil (alcohol, drugs and hoes)…

you can do it on american soil if necessary

  34. Jaybuc Says:

@Rod Munch—well coached teams will see it also and make adjustments. It was terrible call especially at that point in the game when they were moving the ball. His middle name should be Byron “predictable” Leftwich

  35. Jaybuc Says:

@Rod Munch. The one good call I was referring to was the fake screen to Julio. That play went to Evans for a good gain and first down. Godwin was also open. I still want Leftwich gone!

  36. BUCS fan Says:

Trick play to Brady ? Who was the genius who design that play? Even if Brady catches the ball , they’ll break his legs and then there goes the season!!

  37. SB~LV Says:

    Must have been the Lederhosen…

  38. Rjscheapseats Says:

    Lol
The comments here are so predictable
The Bucs established the run and everything else fed off that
One bad play call but a well called game offensively.
    The D is very good

  39. DoooshLaRue Says:

Brady SHOULD have about 10-12 picks already this season.
    He’s been very fortunate.

  40. JimmyfromNY Says:

Ha nice troll but he doesn’t !! and should have a five more touchdowns if the receivers didn’t drop the ball it works both ways. He’s been fantastic since that last 2 drive last week that’s why he’s the best of the best in the will to win. It’s contagious I know All his haters have there stomach all upset because they thought he was done. Love it losing tears Are the most delicious!!

  41. Rod Munch Says:

unbelievable – I agree, it was slightly better today, in particular in the 2nd quarter. I’m convinced that Brady made a deal that if they didn’t score a TD in the 1st quarter, Brady would get to call the 2nd quarter, and that’s why it looked like an NFL offense.

I kid, kinda, although I think that really happened, sorta.

  42. Rod Munch Says:

DoooshLaRue – LOL! The old Winston, shoulda been intercepted stat.

  43. Rod Munch Says:

Jaybuc – I agree with you on the fake screen, it was a good call, and they had a 2nd down screen they called later in the game to Otton, I believe, that was also a good call. So there, 2 good calls today. That’s worth the millions they pay Leftwich.

I still can’t believe Leftwich is such an ego maniac that he, reportedly, turned down the Jags job because they didn’t give him his handpicked GM. It’s stunning to me that someone with such an incredibly lack of ability, would think so highly of himself, that he thinks he’d have any job he wanted if he just waited another year.

  44. kyle Says:

f the chit chat.. good job bucs!! handled business

  45. D-Rok Says:

A very solid game with few errors. The game ball goes to the O-line, and the D-line should share it too.

Besides the Cowboys game, who knew our O-line could be as good as it was today? Please rinse and repeat, O-line!!! Now you have confidence as you you know you can do it – you just did it.

Quite an enjoyable game as a fan, and one that came a few weeks late, but it came!!

    GO BUCS!!!

  46. BucFanforLife Says:

Let’s just beat the Browns. One game at a time.

  47. Browsing from DC Says:

I agree with DungyDance. As trivial and odd as it might sound, music does trigger memory and emotions. Hearing a particular song can bring you back to a place in time (good or bad) in your mind. Blasting a little John Denver “Country Roads” pre-game or in game could help recapture that feeling they had in Munich, rev up the crowd’s energy, etc.

Even watching from home when the crowd in Munich got into it I was feeling pumped. The team was finally playing with confidence and swagger and it was infectious. The Bucs may have stumbled upon a new theme song. Lol

The Seahawks on the other hand probably have the opposite reaction when they hear it now.

Anything for an edge. I hope to hear it soon at RayJay!

  48. Sicklelovr Says:

The constant news aboutBrady’s ol lady banging the juice jitsue guy and his kids has got to be distracting.I’m sure he’ll be fine no shortage of gold diggers in this world. Anyway, O line got some pride and Devin White absolutely balled out. Can they keep that momentum? Time will tell. Brady bot time….boop bee boop churg churg bleep !

  49. Eric b Says:

One week at a time, On to the browns stop the run game. Get our run game going with white! LFGO!!!!
