BSPN Prediction: Bucs Go On A Tear

November 12th, 2022

Bucs OC Byron Leftwich.

As you will hear today in the “Ira Kaufman Podcast,” Joe is not confident the Bucs offense can improve enough to make a run in the playoffs.

Yes, the Bucs have all sorts of talent on. For whatever reason, it hasn’t clicked through nine games. If nine games isn’t a pattern, then Joe doesn’t know what a pattern is. If failing Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich knew how to fix the offense, he would have done so.

If Leftwich really knew how to solve the puzzle on offense, what’s he waiting on, Christmas?

The Bucs are averaging just 18 points per game.

But Matt Miller of BSPN isn’t buying it. He thinks Tom Brady and the rest of the talent will eventually figure it out, Leftwich or no Leftwich.

In fact, Miller writes the Bucs are about to go on a run that will transform the team and its playoff outlook.

Buccaneers will win six of eight games, claim the NFC South

I’m looking for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to make a run — fueled by Tom Brady and the passing game — and ultimately win 10 games this season. Despite a 4-5 start amid a disappointing scoring offense and a defense that’s showing its age, the Buccaneers can still jell and rally behind the GOAT.

As wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin get on the same page with Brady, and as the offense evolves to better fit what No. 12 wants, watch the Buccaneers rip through the surprisingly close NFC South to emerge as a playoff team once again. ESPN’s FPI is still giving Tampa Bay a 68.2% chance to win the division.

Do the Bucs have the talent to do this? Yes. Can they? Man, something is missing in this offense. If healthy (coughAkiemHickscough), the defense should be fine. It’s the offense that has Joe worried.

The Bucs have gone from seventh-worst in the NFL in rushing yards per game to worst in over a half-century. That not all because Ronald Jones is the Chiefs’ fourth-string running back.

We ran the ball 9 out of our first 10 first downs. Seriously.

  2. DungyDance Says:

“He thinks Tom Brady and the rest of the talent will eventually figure it out, Leftwich or no Leftwich.”

What they have to figure out is how to move on from Leftwich without alienating him. Mutually exclusive proposition, yes, but that is essentially it. Brady is tight with BL and will always stick up for him, and it is becoming clear that is reason BL is not already gone. So they need to figure out how to keep Leftwich in charge while ignoring him at the same time.

  3. SKBucsFan Says:

Prediction: Tom Brady goes on a tear despite his and the teams coaching.

  4. BucsNoles Says:

Just let Tom call the plays at the line of scrimmage PLEASE!!!!

  5. Timbo Slice Says:

So we win one game at the last second against an equally terrible, disappointing team, and all of a sudden we are going to “go on a tear”

    Right.

    Seahawks by 2 scores.

  6. Hodad Says:

We should have a better idea of what this team will be after today. It’s O.K. to lose this game, and still get to where we need to be. However if we get stomped, and look like we don’t belong on the field with Seattle, this season might as well be over. This team doesn’t have the mental fortitude to recover from a seal clubing. They better at least come out firing, and make this a ball game to save this season. Get beat bad, I doubt they recover.

  7. Bucfan Says:

    Ditto to BucsNoles!

  8. Deeez NATZ Says:

Tom should just ignore butthole toilet bowl and boron…What ever happened to me throw boron? It would do us some good if we threw for 5-8 yards on first down…Need to run Rashad .Lenny is worthless with his little lsu jersey…send that fool back to lsu.

  9. Lt. Dan Says:

That’s why you call them BSPN – right Joe?

  10. SKBucsFan Says:

I agree Hodad. We can win the NFC South playing .500 ball. But would rsther walk away with it like we were supposed to

Do any of the other division leaders really put the scare into anyone come playoff time? I mean the Eagles? Vikings? And Seahawks? I’ll take them over the teams that were supposed to dominate.

  11. Defense Rules Says:

Nice to be optimistic, but winning 6 of our last 8 might to a tad TOO optimistic. That’d give us a 10-7 record which I don’t hear too many predicting. I do think however that 9-7 (winning 5 of our last 8) is doable PROVIDING that we can stay relatively healthy the rest of the way. Lose a couple more key players & we’d be hard-pressed to even have a winning season.

  12. D-Rok Says:

Ditto, Hodad. This team is in an identity crisis, and they cannot afford to lose and be non-competitive. They need some positives on offense especially to have something to build on during the bye week.

As to who will win? I give the Bucs a 50/50 chance based on the way they’ve been playing. If they play more to their potential, they will win.

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We need to prove it on the field tomorrow…..not just win but a convincing win….

    We need to score 30….

  14. Tap-Out Says:

Is scoring 30 and winning by 3 convincing enough? …..it is for me!

  15. Reddington Neck Shores Says:

it’s really our center. look at who tb12 is yelling at every single game and watch the front of the pocket collapse far more often than it should and you begin to wonder- can we survive long enough for jensen to return to strength?

  16. Cobraboy Says:

I love all the optimism, but what happens if the 6-3 Seahawks curb-stomp the 3-5 Bucs?

I mean, this is not like playing the Falcons, Kitties, Saints, or Steelers…

  17. Panhandle Buc Says:

GBO – Yep, I was counting along with many other fans were and how frustrating it was!! It’s like a slap to our faces knowing our chief complaint with the play calling! Byron the clown!!!

  18. Tye Says:

Count TYE as one who has NO confidence in the Bucs improving and long as Leftwich and Bowels presence soils the team and holds them back!

  19. Goatfarmer Says:

Unfortunately, Toad Bowelswich exudes so much negative energy and lack of enthusiasm, that more than offsets any positive energy injected by TB12.

After the win against the Rams, Bowels was as excited as a funeral director waiting for someone to die.

Many of us believed we would miss Arians more than most people thought. We didn’t realize it would be this bad.

  20. Cobraboy Says:

Seahawks by 10+, and the finger-pointing begins in earnest.

Is there a team on the schedule one can circle with confidence as a W?

  21. Stanglassman Says:

    The Bucs are 4-5.

  22. Buczilla Says:

We’re going to win 6 of 8 games with this team? Lol, and here I thought that was a homer. I hope so and anything is possible, but I just haven’t seen anything from our team that would lead me to believe that. I’ll be thrilled if we can just beat the seahawks at this point.

  23. orlbucfan Says:

We beat the Rams last week. Why can’t the Bucs finally win in Europe? This ain’t the 1980s horror shows.

  24. SOEbuc Says:

Get a clue Joe. Brady media money.

  25. Ontario Mike Says:

Why do none of the Bucs sites have any info on Jensen’s return? Has anyone asked the question of Bowles or Lefty? Come on guys…could be the key to igniting the offence.

  26. T REX Says:

    Funny stuff

    Thanks.

  27. Goatfarmer Says:

So, Bowels and Leftwurst walk into a Munich Beer Hall…….

Wouldn’t it be great if they just stayed there?

  28. kyle Says:

defense showing its age?? Who is this assclown? We have david and hicks that are veterans??? This is a young defense?????
