Cade Otton Saves The Day

November 6th, 2022

Clutch play by rookie.

Joe feels a giant, collective sigh of relief all over the Tampa Bay area from Winter Haven to Crystal River and down to North Port.

The Bucs finally, finally got some offense when they needed it. Yes, Virginia, the Bucs can score a touchdown!

Bucs rookie tight end Cade Otton all but admitted the reaction in the Bucs locker room was more relief than celebration. He noted that finally the offense played to its potential at the most crucial of times — less than a minute remaining tonight against the Rams.

“I feel like we have been pressing all season,” Otton said on the Buccaneers Radio Network following the game. “To get that result, and a win, it’s a huge relief.”

Joe knows Bucs fans can agree.

As for catching the game-winner, well, Otton is maybe the most gee-whiz, humble guy in the locker room. That didn’t change with such a big play.

“The offensive line held things down, the receivers on the outside ran great routes to get me open,” Otton said. “And Tom delivered a great ball.”

About the only time Otton appeared even remotely cocky, he gave props to the Bucs defense,  which also came through when the Bucs most needed it.

“Our defense played amazing all night,” Otton said. “We had trust they were gong do their job and we were going to get the ball back.”

Will this win against a rotten Rams team catapult the Bucs to playing better on offense? Baby steps, folks. Baby steps.

    Two great 4th round picks…..Otton & Camarda

  4. Vlad The Impaler Says:

Maybe ME13 and CG14 have sold out to wise-guy gamblers and are throwing games. They both look bored and sad.

    Fire Leftwich regardless

  5. rigged Says:

NFL is rigged. And I’m a Bucs fan

  6. Pewter Power Says:

The fire Leftwich chants will be even louder seeing life in the offense come from no huddle meaning he called very few plays on that drive

  7. Redeemer Says:

Bucs still have a pile of problems on offense, but glad to get a win. Dear Lord the Rams are awful on offense.

  8. Bucanero Says:

Camarda better gets a game ball. I mean, gameplan surely was to show off our pro-bowl punter. Oh vanity…

  9. Desanova Says:

    Camarda deserves an article

  10. Michael Says:

Well, bitch all you want, I’m having a cold one and enjoying this win and an amazing drive by the Goat 🐐 Go Bucs!

  11. matthew veal Says:

Ok, the two rookie tight ends did well.

The receivers, well, they are not the best in the history of the nfl or however joe worded it.

  12. HawaiianBuc Says:

    #Leftwichout

  13. James West Says:

Never have I seen such lackluster, and unemotional coaching from this team in years, todd bowels is love Smith 2.0, I really see no playoffs in this teams near future, unimaginative play calling from Leftwich, the defense can,’t cover a slice of bread with butter, and let’s kick it to Darden who instinctively catches the ball and runs to the sideline, to step out of bounds, touchdown Tommy you still got the juice, problem is you don’t have the guns around you

  14. Mike C Says:

If the Defense can start getting turnovers we might not need an offense at all.

  15. John - Ocala Says:

Great for Cade! Much needed “w”. Cotton balls is not head coach material. He may be a good teacher and communicator to the defensive ball players that he’s just not cut out to run an entire football team. So many of us had high hopes that he’d have the similar success as Mike Tomlin. Not gonna happen folks. I have said for nearly 3 years now that Byron was riding the success of other people’s shirt tails. The super bowl run was a combination of Brady and Arians as well as the great run last year. As soon as Byron was cut loose on his own the complete disaster. No sense in wasting trouble there he will never be a successful head coach. I’m sure Stephen A will have something to say about these two. Very disappointed BUCS fan. I think I set my hopes too high that we would have a well-oiled machine as a team…… Happy holidays folks

  16. John - Ocala Says:

*lmao… “Bowels, not Cotton balls”.. although he might be a little too soft to be a head coach

  17. Uncle Urk Says:

The LT should be sitting next to the Old LG. Unfortunately, he is our only option. He is not good. Serviceable yes. Good no. Lol. He should be on the sideline to catch Jalen Daren from running into the bench.

  18. Your Mom Says:

Best proof yet that Leftwich needs to be fired was how well the offense did when it was no huddle and he was removed from the equation.

  19. D-Rok Says:

    Leftnut gotta go. C’mon, man.

  20. Eric Says:

i miss the no risk it no biscuit. Went from the most prolific offense in the league to barely eeking out one touchdown

However, Brady can win even with Leftwich. Win the division and who knows.

  21. Cobraboy Says:

    Seventy-four yards.

  22. Ed b Says:

“Are you a right wich or a left wich..”I am a left wich”..”oh I am sorry you must go”

  23. Brandon Says:

Funny how Leftwich gets the blame for the offense sucking but when it was great the last two seasons it was all because of Brady. Funny how stupid you Brady butt kissers are. He’s part of the problem. We saw the New England dink and dunk offense all season and in the last two minutes he actually threw it downfield. This is on him AND Leftwich…ohhh and the worst running running back in the NFL, Fournette. Again… more Buc fan stupidity. He’s says been mediocre.

  24. Wild Bill Says:

I thought Darden had his best game. Ran hard for a change. Otton is a winner ! VEA GOT 2 MORE SACKS!!!! And Scotty played great on the last drive. The punter was also great. But the Bucs offense overall continues to suck. They are averaging less than one touchdown per game for the season so far. Not much joy at all this season.

  25. bucs4life Says:

The play fake, which was a RPO between Fournette and Otton, was never called all season. Something tells me Tommy pulled that off the hat, just like he did in that Gronk TD on the Super Bowl. We need Brady designing plays and chiming in ASAP!

  26. Frank Pillow Says:

When Otten adds some functional strength, watch-out! As for Camarda, what a performance! True MVP effort out there today. What a weapon!

  27. Chrisonthecape Says:

Best player on the roster is the rookie punter. Pathetic.

  28. dbbuc711 Says:

I think Otton was a great draft pick.

  29. Steve Says:

All you Brady doubters eat crow !
What’s with the Evans drops ?
Why didn’t Bowles challenge that punt, that would have the Rams at the
1 yard line. He needs to go back to the Jets.
When is Leftwich going to get imaginative ?

  30. Steve Says:

I am a Bucs fan. Why am I being cancelled. Other people use profanity on the site, with 1 or 2 letter blocked out ?

  31. firethecannons Says:

all the tight ends need more reps in practice especially this guy!

  32. steele Says:

He is still a long way from Gronk, but good game from Otton. Put on more lbs and muscle, keep improving. Same with Ko.

This team and the coaching is still a problem. A spark like this helps, but the list of needed repairs is long.

  33. Anonymous Says:

Vita’s best game. Punters best game. Darden’s best game. In hurry up we always move the ball. Play calling stinks. Lenny is regressing. R White shows promise. Donnie Smith was terrible. Mike obviously cracked some ribs on that play. Julio is an invalid.

  34. Steve Says:

    Thank you Joes.

  35. Erik Hesson | Fine Artist | Founder of UniqueModernArt.com Says:

Immediately after watching Otten’s college highlights after we drafted him, I came him Baby Gronk.

Because he looked similar to Gronk in his college film, I can see exactly why Brady wanted him.

  36. Erik Hesson | Fine Artist | Founder of UniqueModernArt.com Says:

    *called him Baby Gronk

  37. Ed Says:

Miller was a microcosm of the entire team. Came in and gave the team a lift, but then couldn’t finish it off and dropped a TD pass that hit him right in the facemask. At least the defense was better. Offense was still horrible: penalties, sacks, dropped passes, all seemingly coming at critical times. And oh my, the run game was still horrible. Brady will get credit for that last drive, but for heavens sake push the ball downfield once in a while.

  38. Coburn Says:

Only time that offense seems to move is when we are in urgent mode and Brady takes it into his own hands

  39. 1#bucsfan Says:

Defense kept this game with in reach. Even with all the 3 n outs by our offense. The defense never broke

  40. LakelandSteve Says:

Let Brady call his own plays at the line. We should just have the players get on the line, no huddle whether it’s hurry up or not and let Brady call the play at the line. Kind of like Peyton Manning used to do. Enough of Leftwhich calling the plays.

  41. Bucschamp Says:

    Baby Gronk

  42. Randall Says:

    FIRE LEFTWICH

He’s our worst enemy by far

  43. orlbucfan Says:

Brady calls his own plays. He’s got that list taped on his arm. Otton and Miller deserve kudos on the last drive as does the OLine.
