Bottom Of The League

November 6th, 2022

Bucs OC Byron Leftwich.

The more you study it, the more outrageous it becomes.

Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich is wasting valuable talent and p!ssing away the likely final season of the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady.

Not only do the Bucs have the worst rushing attack since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970, not only do the Bucs have the worst third-and-long conversion rate of the century, the Bucs are also at the bottom of the league in touchdowns per score.

By way of Rich Hribar of Sharp Football Analysis, no team in the NFL has a poorer touchdown-to-field goal ratio on scoring play.s

Leftwich’s offense.

* 38.7% of the Tampa Bay scoring plays (12-of-31) have been touchdowns, the lowest rate in the league.

This stat is yet another log on the Leftwich fire. Or should it be the “Fire Leftwich” log?

With the talent the Bucs have, this is simply unacceptable. Well, at least for Joe it is unacceptable. Apparently folks at One Buc Palace find it very much acceptable if not tolerated. Leftwich still has a job, right?

All-in? Joe’s rear end!

Does anyone at One Buc Palace have Marcus Arroyo’s cell number?

For multiple reasons, I enjoyed this line lol. Thanks Joes! Go Bucs!

  2. Scott Says:

    Not creative enough on offense.

    Joe aims to please! 🙂

It’s unacceptable to ALL of us!!

  5. August 1976 Buc Says:

No, sorry,I do not enjoy the line because it reminds me of rhe pizz poor job BL is consistantly demonstrating to fans and the NFL.
He has coached himself off of anybodys list of canidates for Head Coach.

Red Pen, or Don Coryell, whatever, please someone wake this offense out of a malaise. This reminds of the Ray Perkins era, just downright bad offense, with no hope of it getting better until a coaching change happens.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  6. ClwJB Says:

Maybe BL is trying to immigrate the BA mantra of sticking with your convictions

The problem is he should be charged with a felony for wasting all the resources he has been afforded…

  7. Defense Rules Says:

There’s always more to the story IMO; teams don’t get THIS BAD because of the performance of 1 man. Bing historically bad takes a team effort, just like being historically good takes a team effort.

Where’s BA in all of this? If he’s BL’s mentor, then his mentoring sucks. Where’s Tom Moore in all of this? He’s listed as Assistant Coach. His expertise was constantly available to BA & BL for these past couple of years. Has he now fallen off a cliff? I never hear his name anymore.

Harold Goodwin is the assistant HC AND the Run Game Coordinator. Am I missing something? Run Game Coordinator? Hello, anyone home? Kacy Rodgers is listed a the DLine Coach AND, yup, Run Game Coordinator. Seriously, it took TWO Run Game Coordinators to become this bad? Of course, then we have Joe Gilbert, renowned OLine Coach. Or is that ‘renowned’ only when you have All-Pros to work with, because right now, our OLine ain’t gettin’ it done. Oh and Todd McNair, our RB Coach. Hint Todd, our RBs aren’t getting it done running the ball either.

Even disregarding the decrease in player expertise that we’ve obviously experienced (losing Jensen AND Marpet really sucks), this mammoth coaching staff may well be a big part of the problem. Too many fingers in the pie? Too many coaches with multiple conflicting titles? Or is it just too many good ol’ boys collecting paychecks and just getting in the way?

Looks that way to me, sir

    @ Defense Rules

You jumped me when I suggested these coaches have no clue in a previous post.

Glad to see you’ve come around to what is obvious.

  10. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

    Who is Marcus Arroyo?

  11. Wild Bill Says:

What are the Glazers thinking these days? How about accountability? Somebody’s ass needs to be fired! This season has been catastrophic! And so far ownership has been passive and silent. Time to shake the tree. Fire non productive people be they players or coaches.

  12. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

With the offense playing this poorly I would be surprised if Jensen, were he healthy enough, would bother playing this season.

  13. adam from ny Says:

marcus arroyo is the ceo of popeye’s fried chicken…

crunchiest chicken skin on the planet…

the mac & cheese is good too

  14. Hodad Says:

If this game comes down to coaching we lose.

  15. ATLBuc Says:

Joe! Do you expect them to change offenses in midseason? That’s what would happen if the Bucs fired Leftwich, EXCEPT if they fired him and Brought Arians down as an interim OC. Hmmmmmmm

  16. Defense Rules Says:

AKicknTheBucNuts … I’m thinking that the biggest mistake Bowles has made is just accepting the staff that BA passed on to him. His personal fingerprint isn’t on any of this, unfortunately. It’s more like he was the ‘designated caretaker’ of this good ol’ boys club, and that’s the kiss of death.

BA started this ‘game plan design by committee’ bullcrap when he came here. When you have superior talent, anything probably works. But when you need coaching to really make a difference, committees don’t work well. Their biggest problem in my opinion is that it’s too easy for creativity to get stifled amidst the ‘go along to get along’ that all too often exists.

I still believe that Todd Bowles is a good DC. As a HC though he needs to either take charge or step aside. Or he’ll be fired, whichever comes first.

  17. Joe Morello Says:

Leftwitch and Boles are the worst combo in the NFL.
    The Glazer family s….ks.

  18. SufferingSince76 Says:

If the Bucs organization cared something would have already been done. I don’t know what they are trying to do, but if it’s too anger the people who pay their bills, it’s working.

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We have to rely on our defense to win games and that’s a problem.

When your offense has the worst running game in the NFL
When your offense can’t convert on 3rd downs
When your offense fails in the red zone
When your offense can’t get short yardage when it needs it
When your offense gets 3 instead of 7
When your offense can’t get receivers open
When your punter is your best offensive weapon
When your Kicker leads the league in FGs

    Your defense will struggle

  20. Listnfrmafar Says:

If you looked at stats which they don’t you would see the failures. The KILLER B’s HAVE TO GO!!!!

  21. Bojim Says:

    Show us some heart!!

  22. DungyDance Says:

“The KILLER B’s HAVE TO GO!!!!”

    Nice.

  23. tampabuscsbro Says:

But joe according to most of this comment section it’s because the offensive line is bad.

Sure The bears with a much worse line are running all over teams but clearly here it’s the offensive line cannot push a double teamed stack box for each lineman.

  24. Manny Says:

I think the season comes down to two obvious why havent theys? And one question. Why havent they demoted bowles back to dc and why havent they fired leftwich. On the last note and the question is why doesnt brady audible a lot more? If anyone should have free reigns to audible, its him. What will they do? Bench him or suspend him for doing it to much?? Lol hell no.

  25. Youngbucs Says:

I’m holding players accountable all of them from QB to punter. It’s lefty’s fault we drop passes? It’s lefty’s fault we miss open receivers? It’s lefty’s fault we have an over rb with choppy feet with no vision????

  26. Natron Says:

    Where the hell is BA!!!!????

  27. David Says:

So is Arians regretting his decision and thinking Bowles is not a head coach and BL is not as good as he thought?
    OR
Is Brady’s distraction, WR injuries, O line injuries, no Gronk, Devon White with no discipline, and a D line that doesn’t get enough pressure without blitzing all factor in as well?

It just seems everyone’s looking for an answer when the answer to me is blame and accountability across the board with players and coaches, including Brady.

The good news is they can turn it around. This division is for the taking. Other than the Eagles and the Bills… There aren’t any teams this year that should scare any other team.

  28. Paratrooper Buc Says:

    @tampabaybucfan

Spot on. Our defense has had to play so hard we lost Shaq. Our time of possession was an issue last few years but we scored so much it didn’t matter. Now our issue is we can’t get points and stay on field long enough for defense to rest. I blame Leftwich, Bowles first and foremost. We know Oline is bad so we can’t run and Brady can’t make throws. The fire is out for this team because we are not winning on offense. If we can’t win today the season is truly over. A win today would be a psychological victory as rams have beat us in last 3 outings. It could rekindle the winning spirit of this team. A loss…no one should be talking about playoffs and we should look to rebuilding starting with new coaches. Brady will be in Miami or SF. Anywhere that allows him to win and see his kids.

  29. AKicknTheBucNuts Says:

    @ Defense Rules

You hit the nail on the head.

    I concur.

  30. Erik Hesson | Fine Artist | Founder of UniqueModernArt.com Says:

This team is like a Chicken with its head cut off.

We thought Brady was/is the Head, but no. It’s obviously BA.

  31. Scooter Says:

In our woke culture it took Hugh Jackson to achieve 1 win-34 losses before Cleveland fired him. I think it’s a lock the Bucs HC and OC will be back next year.

  32. Joe Says:

    Who is Marcus Arroyo?

Ah, how quickly we forget. Understandable in this case.

Yet he did a better job than Leftwich with 10 percent of the talent.

  33. Listnfrmafar Says:

Youngbucs, to answer your question YES! It’s called situational football not call a play just to call a play. You exploit other teams weaknesses not run into their strengths.

Tampabucsfans & Paratrooper, if the D would stop giving up 200 yds a game which takes a lot of time off the clock the O would have more chances to score.

  34. Destinjohnny Says:

    Need to draft better

  35. Hondo Says:

all have been saying this for weeks. yet BL is still calling plays. Coaching and front office should be fired.

  36. OLDE pfart Says:

The guy carrying the ball is only as good as the line is in opening the gap so he can make the yards…..this is not happening …..plus…..they are so predictable on their runs that the defense is just sitting there waiting for them…….need to be more creative in play calling plus get the damn holes open…..a better line also gives Brady the extra 2 to 4 seconds for his passing game to expand……and YES……the Bucs miss Gronk!
