Tom Brady Talks Urgency

Tom Brady spent a little time defining leadership today at One Buc Palace.
After acknowledging everything feels hard and challenging for the Bucs offense on now, Brady said grinding and pushing harder falls on leadership to drive. “Pushing people in practice and trying to get a bigger sense of urgency,” Brady said of what Bucs team leaders need to do.
Brady emphasized that the Bucs aren’t playing winning football and the margin for error is smaller so far this season.
Of course, Brady dropped many clichés at his news conference, but Joe was intrigued by the comment on building “a bigger sense of urgency.”
Why is this a freakin’ problem? It was urgent to the max against Carolina after the upset to Pittsburgh, then it was no-excuses urgent at home against the Ravens. Every fan knew it. Why did the Bucs need help processing that?
The season is on the line Sunday. If the Bucs don’t walk away from that game exhausted after giving everything they have on every snap, then there’s scant hope for this team or its coaching staff.

Brady’s sense of urgency, given his extensive experience, is likely to be much different than most players on this team, and especially the rookies.
Hopefully the message is received by one and by all.

With the exception of evans our other rheee receivers are dealing with injuries that slow them down. If they can’t get separation it doesn’t matter how urgent they are. If the coaching staff can’t see how well white runs the ball and won’t give him more carries then they are really delusional

Love Brady and the history he has brought to Bucs, but that is total BS. You’re the supreme GOAT leader, yet you retire and unretire, miss 11 days in camp, and wake up with a hangover Sunday from cheez ball money grubbing wedding to not have walk through or travel with the team. Im a die hard Bucs fan, but three and out all day and there’s not just something wrong with Brady’s leadership. He needs to take leadership and audible out of every play Byron calls.

I’m sure Evans is dealing with injuries too. Theyre not documented though. He looks like he’s struggling.

IF Brady really did call his own game, I wonder what would happen? Belicheat would prolly bench him – does anything think BL or Todd would bench Brady?
If nothing else, an interesting “what if” debate.
I really don’t think Brady would actually do that; by all accounts, he’s been a company man his entire career.

And taking it just one step further – if Brady audibled out of almost every play, do we all think our offense would look much better?

If you go back & look at the # of Limited Participation/Did not participate practices by this WR & TE groups, so far this year…It’s really no wonder that TB12 is not on the same page as his pass catchers… As they have spent more time in the trainers & medical staff offices than on the practice field.
Not sure “leadership” can overcome that…Can’t push guys in practice, if they are not practicing!!

I know Brady is aware about what’s been written and said about him. He sent his OL clips about how people were saying they suck. Well, Brady is killed in the media and by fans. He’s been called washed, especially after this last game. A bitter and slighted Brady is a good Brady.
I’m not exaggerating when I say I fear for his physical and mental health if this losing continues. There’s always the cliche when people say they hate losing more than winning, but with Brady that’s doubly true. He’s a tormented soul with an addiction to football. Us Bucs fans are used to the constant humiliation of losing. Brady is not. He’s the one person in that locker room who I know will go down swinging. His legacy is cemented, but it would suck to go out this way.

How desperate are we that Brady asked for Tyler Johnson to return. Listening to Leftwich’s press conference, it seems like Brady wanted a guy who knows the offense and who’s been in the trenches with the team. Tyler has a very limited game and really struggles with separation. Brady’s notoriously hard on his receivers. Tyler’s probably gained some mental toughness. I’m not so sure about Gage. I wouldn’t say Brady fully trusts Tyler because he makes too many mental mistakes and gets lazy with his routes, but I noticed that Brady doesn’t freeze him out and will come back to him. Tyler’s one of the few receivers who isn’t on the injury report every week

You should revamp the whole coaching staff. The bucs owners Are probably afraid of not being politically correct by firing minorities.

OK Joe, question. Who are the ‘team leaders’ that Brady was addressing this to? If it’s the team captains, then maybe he FIRST needs to instill a sense of urgency in them.
Our best bet for defeating the Rams is to put as many healthy bodies out there as possible. Guys riding the bench don’t contribute anything to winning.
Oh, another question. NFL rules state that we can only dress 46 players on game day. Apparently 9 don’t dress now. Could Byron be one of those 9? If not, is he eligible for the Practice Squad?

Sometimes fans bring things into these discussions that seem remotel and disconnected from the game of football itself.
I listen to people like Tom Brady and what he says. It doesn’t matter if what he says seems banal or if it is actually something a bit unusual. I try to think about how he responds to various questions thrown at him from all angles at press conferences. I try to read between the lines.
He talks football basics over and over, almost ad nauseum. He talks team this and team that. He seems to be conscious of every player he has ever been associated with. There is nothing that I find meaningless coming out of him regarding what is going on in any given week.

Urgency. It’s something the head coach is supposed to cultivate.
It’s in Tom Brady’s blood, along with every other characteristic of a champion veteran…things that his teammates aren’t displaying and tuning out. Tom can push and yell and try motivational trick, but does it register? “We good”, why are you yelling at me?

Uh, Jimbo, what’s your point? That you listen intently when Brady talks? That you find meaningful insight in Tom’s stock replies? Not trying to dog you, just earnestly interested in your interpretation. I personally feel like I can take any press clip from TB and insert it unnoticed after any game… ” We gotta execute better… play better, including me… we need to play with urgency… it’s a team sport, we all share in this… it’s never just one guy… this one’s over, we need to prepare for the next one…etc.” imo, dry toast, so I’m curious about the butter you’re tasting

What confuses me most are the haters. What has Brady done to hurt this team. He tries to lead whether it falls on death ears who knows. He fights to the end unlike some, he never throws a teammate or coach under the bus. I’m convinced ALL the haters were on the debate team or rode the pine on game day because they sure as hell don’t understand the game of football. If you did you would understand this team is broken from the top down. The offense cannot sustain drives because they are one dimentional. Whether you want to believe it or not this is a bad coaching staff. I know there are some that are sensitive and defensive because of race but the fact is it doesn’t matter what race they are these men are just not qualified to lead this team. That’s the problem!

Unlike many of you, I simply can not even imagine Tom attempting to be a QB PLUS a play caller. I wonder how they’d pay him. LOL Never enough, I bet.

this is Not a college team that we need ” rah-rah ” posters in order to get them motivated,. These are professional players that get paid big $$$.. If they don’t have self pride /respect to play at pro level –they should be cut . they are assets.. In business if you have an asset thats not working–you replace it with a better one.. But that takes courage to admit you made a mistake–but licht , BA, & bowles can’t face that because they don’t have the courage==stubborn

95% of the haters are trolls from other teams that Brady tortured the rest are basically clueless. Missing practice or not being a camp for a week literally has nothing to do with the ineptness of the O- fence. The worst running game of all time, in office of coordinator who lacks any sense of imagination, receivers that are either quitting , unhealthy or not good enough, and Tom simply missing some throws each game it’s a simple as that. Literally has nothing to do with anything that he has missed , he doubles up on time when he’s there no one works harder.

3-14 should bring a sense of urgency. Because that’s their record if Bowelswich don’t change practice to correct the obvious flaws.
But they won’t.

I have always been a very very self motivated person. But I do understand that many people are not. So when you have reached the NFL should you need outside forces to motivate you to have a “sense of urgency”?
I think not
BTW I hate the phrase “sense of urgency”! Just say simply “a lack of effort”!
