Joe is being sarcastic, but it was fun to type. Today Bucs general manager Jason Licht signed receiver Tyler Johnson, a man with a Bucs Super Bowl ring, to the club’s practice squad. And he did the same with special teams ace/cornerback Ryan Smith.
Johnson was cut after the the Bucs’ preseason, and the 2020 fifth-round pick by Tampa Bay landed with the Houston Texans before being released this month. Smith, the Bucs’ 2016 fourth-round pick, left the Bucs after the Super Bowl season to join the Chargers. Smith was cut from the Colts’ practice squad last week.
Interesting about Johnson is that Bowles said after his release that he had “no special teams value.”
Joe likes the Johnson signing. He’s solid insurance. For now, Julio Jones is healthy after finishing the Baltimore game in one piece and catching his first Bucs touchdown pass.
Speaking of Julio, Joe hopes Smith seeing him in the hallway of One Buc Palace doesn’t trigger dangerous flashbacks.

Bringing back Tyler Johnson was a good idea, however it also says a lot that he couldn’t get active on the Texans roster, then they cut him – yet was starting for us in the playoffs.
But with how every Bucs WR is constantly injured, you need as many bodies as possible.

The team has speed, Miller, Julio, Perriman, all are speed guys.
What the team doesn’t have is quickness. None of those guys are quick. That’s what AB brought to the team, a guy who can use his quickness to get open quickly underneath. That’s why Beasley was brought in, and he would have been an excellent fit if he still had anything left.

These moves just make it more laughable!! Why waste anything on a Chubb and bring back these clowns ? I love Joe and fellows Joes thinking this season is going to magically turn around with a 3-5 team, but after they comeback from Germany they will be 3-7 ?? Start the rebuild and get what you can, but I will bet anyone a $100 that they won’t beat the Rams ( who took their pride and soul ) and a well coached Seattle team. Did you see Pete motivate his decimated team that beat the Giants. I will give someone 5-1 odds that they go to 3-7, so $500 or $100.. dead serious because most people know how bad this group ( that can’t be called a team ) is !!!

Johnson should’ve never been cut as stated earlier, don’t know why Texans cut him, maybe he was showing Lovie that ring he got with Tampa and automatically went into the Lovie doghouse, Lovie was like that “don’t bring that stuff round here, it’s as simple as that” but TJ would wear it to practice

He got cut cuz he is still slow he was slow here he is slow there now he is slow back over here with the need for wr to quickly get separation because of a oline that Tom doesn’t trust this move does nothing. A move I want to see is on the staff if other teams can get better results with lesser talent why do the bucs find it so difficult gotta be on coaching.

Here’s a crazy pre-trade deadline hypothetical trade: Go get Roquan Smith and plug him in with Lavonte, and put DW on the edge.
Our D would be much better.
As for our O, the most glaring need is for the O-line to play better. I saw glimpses of good play in first half against Ravens. Not sure bringing in a player will help us much, unless we get an outstanding guard. Obviously, if Gronk were to come back in playing shape would be huge.
Otherwise, we got who we got and our only hope is much better execution from top to bottom.

Devin Thompkins runs a 4.32. You would think he’d be better throwing a quick receiver screen to instead of Evans. Bet with that speed he’d be better than Jones on an end around. To bad we don’t have an O.C. who can scheme a few plays for that kind of speed. Forgot, Thomkins isn’t 30 something, and on his last legs, he doesn’t fit the Bucs mold for a receiver. He’s way to young, and much to fast to put on the field. Bet the Chiefs would find a way to use that speed.

If the OLine isn’t executing by now, halfway through the season, it’s unlikely they’ll suddenly turn the corner. I like the Tyler Johnson pickup. He may be slow, but he can catch. For all their speed, Miller and Darden aren’t reliable hands. They drop most of their targets.

@Listnfrmafar thank God they won’t get my money after this season and should have just driven on the expressway and thrown thousands out of my car 😳 !! Thankfully I sold my 4SC tickets for this weeks game and got 70 percent for the tickets, but the only positive thing I’ve experienced at Ray J this year was seeing The Weekend ( that show was 🔥 ) My buddy who’s big with Tampa Sports Authority got my son a Brady helmet and signed jersey that I basically paid 10gs for ?? Lmao… I’m done brother and it was a great 2 years and then this debacle went down, but REFUSE to pay to watch the rebuild and agree that Blaine should play and surprised after Brady going 8 and out and should have been 3 ints didn’t get benched. No, it will not fix our problems but receiver depth is always a good thing, especially with how fragile our receivers are proving to be.

I just could not believe Leftwich called Julio Jones on an end around, with his history of injury.
Godwin used to be a gamebreaker, and so did Mike Evans, until him and Brady got on different pages.
I watched a video of Arians calling out Brady when he tried to Blame Evans for an interception when it was Brady who was in the wrong! In the video Arians explains how Evans read the coverage correctly, and adjusted and Brady did not.
Perhaps that is the reason Arians is not coach anymore, because he would not cosign any of Brady’s crap ?

Yuc, if you recall which you won’t, the three amigos were all standing in a triangle in the same area, (another BL botched play), I guess Brady thought one of them would try for the ball. The other Evan’s cut in when he was supposed to plant and not sure of your third reference. Whine about your D, keep them under 19 pts the second half Bucs win. Oh, Otton dropped the 2 pointer right in his hands but it didn’t matter Lenny decided to leave early even though he was.in no part of the play.

Meaningless moves that do nothing to address the biggest problems which are the Oline and Dline. Jason Licht has a BIG hand in the collapse of our beloved Bucs by not acquiring the line improvements necessary to even have any semblance of a running game(We have none now) or being able to stop the run on D. Brady was always at his best using play action , but without even a minor threat of a running game from Tampa , opponents can play the run as they rush Brady on every down , it makes playing D easier.

I admit Smith is garbage on defense, but he has much more size and experience than McCollum. Teams find the small fifth round rookie that can’t make an open field tackle and go to work on him in the passing game.

We picked up 2 average guys, despite having MASSIVE holes at DE/OLB, G and RB.

I for one am glad he is back with the team that drafted him for that exact reason – our special teams have been anything but special for quite some time…

Cutting Johnson in preseason was a mistake. He was productive. I think he should be elevated to the roster. He will immediately outproduce Gage.

Chris Apple . Wrong. Brady never tried to blame that on Evans and BA backtracked those statements the very next day but don’t let facts get in the way. Why drag that up. That was the very first game Brady played as a Buc against the Skanks in 2020.

Almost in november Suh hasnt been signed by anyone and it isn’t the fix for the bucs. The bucs need to fix the stagnation on the offensive side of the ball keep hearing bowles say we need to coach it up better do a few different things but week in and week out they are doing the same things that don’t work are unimaginative wr screens over and over end arounds with a hobbled wr this isn’t it.

Johnson is tough but the Bucs just don’t have a wr with quickness. AB was that guy, he could cut on a dime and catch anything thrown near him. Not AB, but a quicker wr would help Brady. The Bucs just don’t go after speedy guys.

@KentuckyBuc. Chris Apple is full of it. Brady never blamed Evans. He’s never thrown his receivers under the bus. BA ran his mouth after the game without watching the film first. When he actually watched the film, he said Evans read the coverage wrong. I don’t think he should’ve called out Evans. It was their first game together mistakes will happen. You think Brady cares if he’s called out publicly? He’s not some snowflake. That’s not gonna solve the problems. How about you look at it from a football prospective instead of thinking some tough guy stuff would make this team play better. It’s a schematic issues.

Thompkins college highlights are fantastic, he looks like a mini D-Jax, same playing style, looks like he’d be an excellent returner.
However the guy is tiny, just 5′ 8″ 154lbs.
While a guy that size can return the ball, I can’t think of anyone that small that actually contributes at WR, generally because they’re so small they’re easily knocked off their routes.
If he got himself up to around 170lb, he’d still be small, but he’d have a chance to do something – of course, though, adding weight means less speed and quickness, which is his selling point.
In any case I’d try him at returner, he looks like a natural. If the season gets totally away from the Bucs, then I think they will do just that, but it’s always risky to have a guy that small with the ball in his hands because people can take it away.
