Warren Sapp: “#HopeMayBeGoneInTampa”
October 31st, 2022Yesterday, Joe typed the reaction from a BSPN NFL stenographer who attended the Crows-Bucs game on Thursday night.
Jeremy Fowler wrote how the Bucs appear checked out, like they already have their January plans booked. And those plans don’t include the playoffs.
Bucs legend Warren Sapp also was at Thursday’s game. And he went through the All-22 tape and put up a clip on his Instagram account.
Sapp does not like what he’s seeing.
In particular, he is outraged by the loafing of Bucs inside linebacker Devin White. Sapp showed a clip of White dragging arse and replayed it and instructed his audience “watch No. 45.” Sapp was fully disgusted.
“I want you to watch the effort of ‘The Captain,’ No. 45. … I want you to watch ‘The Captain.’
“How do you show up with your defense on Monday morning with this type of effort? I’d ask for the ‘C’ off of your chest. … What is that?”
Sapp backed up and replayed the video time and again and highlighted White giving up on the play.
Sapp made sure to mention at the time of White’s loafing, it was a tie game, 10-10, third-and-nine. If White hustled, perhaps he could have made a play and got the defense off the field. But White didn’t just loaf. He quit on the play. He stopped and stood and watched as his teammates (some of them) were busting tail to get down the field.
Joe saw this play from Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons yesterday. Just look at the real estate he covered from being in the Bears’ backfield to 25 yards downfield to recover a fumble and return it for a scoop-and-score.
That play was an elite player hustling his arse off to put himself in a position to make a play, and he ends up with a game-changing play.
The difference between Parsons and White? Parsons may believe he’s elite but he doesn’t think he’s too good not to give great effort.
White seems to have turned into a linebacker who thinks he’s elite and is too good to give maximum effort.
Who would you rather have on your defense?
Per Sapp, in the comments, White’s play was an example of what Michael Irvin believes are players who have given up on the season.
“[L]ike @michaelirvin88 says: hope will Dictate effort!! #HopeMayBeGoneInTampa”
Joe knows fans are about out of hope.
Joe fears in two weeks when the Bucs return from Munich they could easily be 3-7. Then what?
October 31st, 2022 at 4:09 am
Then what? Good question. More like, what’s it gonna take to clean house at one buc place. I’d say if we can’t win this crappy division, and end up with a losing record, the Glazers must fire Todd Bowles, and crew.
October 31st, 2022 at 4:29 am
I’d like to hear Sapp’s take on Jill Tryon-Sissyinka.
October 31st, 2022 at 5:04 am
Been waiting for a Sapp sighting about D Whites BS on the field antics!!!
Note to Sapp there is way more on tape than this one play. Like celebrating making half a tackle 4 yards past the first down marker.
October 31st, 2022 at 5:12 am
White is the Jameis Winston of the defense….talks the talk but can’t consistently walk the walk. He’s another rah-rah “leader” who in his mind thinks he’s going to be an all time great but doesn’t recognize his results aren’t matching up. White is incredibly mediocre in run defense and pass coverage, he’s a one trick pony that’s only effective when we have a lead and allow him to blitz.
October 31st, 2022 at 5:19 am
I believe I mentioned it in a previous post, but I’ll mention it again. After Devin White mentioned he got bored against the Falcons, I would have ripped that C off his chest and told him to earn it back. After seeing this play over and over again, it needs to happen and it needs to happen before the next game. Send a message for once, Todd. His play may be good in your opinion, Todd, but the fans can smell the bs and trust me, it doesn’t smell like roses. He wants a big contract? It better not be from us if this is the crap he’s going to put out on tape, no sir. Someone needs to open this guy’s eyes and serve him some humble pie.

Toilet bowl butthole,nuff said.
October 31st, 2022 at 6:11 am
When a Captain is playing like that, how can you even begin to motivate others, how can you lift the level around you, when you are playing like this and putting this on tape for everyone to see on Tuesday Mornings at 1 Buc Palace.
To me, one way to motivate is take the C off his chest and put it on someone that actually does not get board.
Its is not like Devin is a 10 year vet, playing out the string with a old beat up body.
He has not even played out his rookie deal.
This team looks like they are going to struggle to win a game, yeah I said that, struggle to even win another game.
How can that be with 9 games left? They are not going anywhere with Brady, might as well Trade/Release/ Trade Brady and put in Trask.
Because this team is not going to win the division, and that would be the only way into the playoffs for this rabble of a team.
GO BUCS!!!!
October 31st, 2022 at 6:12 am
Nothing will change untill the Bucs are numerically out of the playoff picture.
October 31st, 2022 at 6:15 am
are these guys intentionally flopping out the season ???
what is the real reason they’ve all given up ???
#WeCanBeHeroes or #WeCanBeZombies
October 31st, 2022 at 6:22 am
some of these guys look like poo-puts on the tape 🙂

October 31st, 2022 at 6:27 am
Waiting for Rod to tell us how much Sapp doesnt know football its just one clip of D White. LOL he sucks
October 31st, 2022 at 6:43 am
Then you start Trask.
October 31st, 2022 at 6:48 am
Once the team checks out I check out.
Jason Licht and Todd Bowles have destroyed this team. It’s disgusting.
October 31st, 2022 at 6:51 am
Goal number one for a player on this team should be to go all out on game day and try not to embarrass oneself with lack of effort. That is all we ask, win or lose, just play hard.
October 31st, 2022 at 6:54 am
There are serious locker room issues that will come out after the season. When what you see on the field contradicts the level of talent bank on it, there are locker room issues. In addition, Bowles simply is not a key man. He and his OC are part of the issues, not all, but part. This season is a wash. GM and ownership have to fix this, most likely after the season. That indicates how bad the locker room issues are. So, Bucs fans be prepared for a 3-14 record. I am reclaiming my Sunday afternoons for rest and my blood pressure will benefit.
October 31st, 2022 at 7:11 am
@richbucfans
Like a QB that wanted to play for Miami for the 2022 season?
October 31st, 2022 at 7:21 am
By then hopefully the Glazers have contacted Sean Payton a out the Buccaneer job with Tom Bradys approval!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 31st, 2022 at 7:26 am
I’m waiting to see if Bowles benches him for a game or two–it would have HUGE repercussions in the press, would draw tons of negative attention to the guy…. The last thing he wants
October 31st, 2022 at 7:30 am
Wow everyone is having a meltdown over all the problems I’ve been mentioning since Back in March
and suddenly my screen name is being invoked by many of the posters.
October 31st, 2022 at 7:34 am
Bowles is not a coach you fight for?
October 31st, 2022 at 7:56 am
All of this after a players only meeting….should be pretty obvious that they’ve given up on this coaching staff. Oh well.
October 31st, 2022 at 8:03 am
Then what? Then we talk about the draft!!!
Ah, the bad ol’ days. Talking draft before Thanksgiving. Blaming our season on “insert name(s)”… Seems like just a couple years ago, wait, it was just a couple years ago.
October 31st, 2022 at 8:08 am
Da Bucs Guy, could be. My insider source seems to indicate certain key players are not ‘all in’.
October 31st, 2022 at 8:24 am
Bluto: What? Over? Did you say ‘over’? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!…
October 31st, 2022 at 8:25 am
I still like to watch the games that are on tv here. I will no longer listen to the Buc Radio. It has gone down the tubes with the rest of the team. Just awful now.
October 31st, 2022 at 8:46 am
the whole offense stinks but remember this defense has been on the field more minutes than the offense has this season no excuse for Devin lack of play Bruce needs to be incerted into the offense and Bowles needs to concentrate on defense we still have a chance just got to get the tapes and show everyone their mistakes.
October 31st, 2022 at 8:51 am
While I agree with the critique, this is pretty rich from a guy that took PLENTY of plays off and let Culpepper and then McFarland do the heavy lifting until the spotlight was on and it was dance sack time.
October 31st, 2022 at 9:06 am
I have been saying this for weeks: players have quit listening to Buc coaches.
October 31st, 2022 at 9:53 am
The D has alot of injuries- Hicks, Winfield Jr, Davis, Murphy Bunting – all out.
Suh, Whitehead and JPP are gone –
They just don’t have the talent and the players know it.
October 31st, 2022 at 10:48 am
Sapp is right, and that was just one of many plays by #45 to prove his point.
October 31st, 2022 at 11:35 am
After week one, when the Bucs took care of the Cowboys rather handily, had a strong running game and knocked out their Pro Bowl QB for what looked like at least a month, people said the Cowboys season was toast.
They’re 6-2 right now. They didn’t collapse. They didn’t panic and try to get Jimmy G or do anything other than believe they could win games. And I don’t want to hear about “strength of schedule” after the Bucs lost to Carolina and Pittsburgh practice squad teams.
The Bucs, even with the injury woes still have better all-around players and playmakers than the Giants, Seahawks, etc but they have no belief or fire to win.
Maybe the “no risk it” has been abandoned because they don’t “believe” the o-line can give Brady the time he needs. Brady certainly looks like he doesn’t “believe” in them by the way he seems to rush even when there’s really no need to.
Maybe they don’t commit to stopping the run because they don’t “believe” their DBs can perform if they have to play in man coverage?
I put a lot if not most on the coaches. Uninspired running plays with no pulling guards, delay handoffs, etc send a message that “our big men aren’t athletic enough to do anything other than block straight ahead. They can’t protect Brady long enough to go deep” etc.
I saw a Buffalo team last night that played like they feel invincible. They handled Karen Ridgers and the Packers they way the old Harlem Globetrotters used to handle the Washington Generals. They seemed to be toying with them. Receivers found holes to get open. The defense gang tackled like the dude with the ball just insulted their momma and everyone wanted a piece of him.
I still believe in the Bucs this season. I just wish they did
October 31st, 2022 at 11:57 am
Its time for Bowles to make some changes & I mean now or he is going to be on the outside looking in. Right now is the perfect time to fire Leftwitch & go from there.
October 31st, 2022 at 12:03 pm
You can stick a fork in our D line. They are hit. That Kid Tryon stands around also. And now with Shaq? Forgetaboutit. Won’t make a deference getting all of our secondary back because they do not play up front where the gashing’s occur.
Thw only thing that can help this sorry D line is scoring more points than your opponent. And that ain’t happening this year. I see..3 games we might win on the remaining schedule. Ok..maybe 4 if..we try real hard. This team is done. They will be sitting at home with you and me watching the playoffs on the Tube.
October 31st, 2022 at 12:09 pm
“Social media” athletes.
Phoners and Phonies.
The smart phone has destroyed humanity.
October 31st, 2022 at 12:51 pm
I like Sapp and I generally like his takes, but I can’t stand people issuing ‘hot takes’ from watching a single clip from Twitter.
I wish you had Ronde, with the way he breaks down the tape, do an extended video looking at the entire game and giving an honest opinion on if White was loafing.
From watching the game, seeing the entire field, seeing White consistently flying sideline to sideline and being the fastest guy on defense – I absolutely do not think he was loafing, I think he was exhausted.
If someone like Barber watched the full game and said White was loafing, then I’d be very concerned. But I saw the game, and that didn’t happen.
October 31st, 2022 at 1:49 pm
Toast Jason, he’s the architect of this crap
October 31st, 2022 at 2:52 pm
@Rod Munch
I don’t Instagram, so I don’t know if Sapp was looking at the same play Joe did earlier. In the play Joe highlighted, White was the only player I saw loafing, while 10 teammates ran past him to trail the play. The other teammates must have been exhausted, also.
October 31st, 2022 at 3:12 pm
I’m afraid they’ve already given up on the season. But I hope Mike gets his 1k.
October 31st, 2022 at 3:28 pm
I once saw the great #55 miss a sack then hustle downfield and make the tackle on the receiver. That’s effort. That’s leadership.
October 31st, 2022 at 4:02 pm
Everyone needs fired. We need a new GM and coaches and players a complete re build.
October 31st, 2022 at 6:03 pm
I guess Bowles doesn’t have a “dog house”. What is wrong if you bench a few players who are barely playing anyway? I would like to see DW benched for a game, and maybe VV, too. Then see if they get any motivation back.
October 31st, 2022 at 10:02 pm
Hunter’s Crack Pipe – Again, loafing and exhausted are two different things. White is a very high energy guy who was spying and chasing around the greatest running QB in history. On that Prime Vision view of the game where you could see the entire field and who the fastest players were on field here, he was there the entire game. It’s just not a true narrative to say he was loafing or giving up.The entire defense was spent in that second half, and by when Shaq was injured and left, that meant the defense was down 6 starters. White is not why the defense didn’t play well in the 2nd half of the game.
October 31st, 2022 at 11:37 pm
Damn right. Public demotion of Captain before game next week. Hold people accountable.
November 1st, 2022 at 3:01 am
It occurred to me that many of the players in the NFL may not be in as good a physical condition as we may think. Its been said that the Bucs defense was exhausted. I played the game for 8 years. Games were much less physically demanding than practices, particularly preseason practices. I know these guys are much bigger today than when I played. But still…Makes me wonder …are they really in shape? In today’s NFL I don’t think players have much opportunity to get in shape in preseason (Hell they can’t even go full pads most of the time) so if they are not in shape somehow before the season starts they are screwed.

“From watching the game, seeing the entire field, seeing White consistently flying sideline to sideline and being the fastest guy on defense – I absolutely do not think he was loafing, I think he was exhausted.”
So you’re “narrative” is that White should get a pass and the other 5 or 6 guys who continued the persuit were somehow not exhausted?
