Todd Bowles: Personnel Changes On The Table But Lay Off Luke Goedeke
October 17th, 2022Here are highlights of Todd Bowles’ newsy day-after presser.
Joe sensed it a couple of weeks ago and it’s become a hot topic now: Bucs left guard Luke Goedeke is the cause, for many Bucs fans, of all of the ills of the Bucs.
Last Joe checked, Goedeke isn’t the guy too scared to have Mike Evans challenge practice squad dudes in the Steelers’ secondary.
Bowles was asked about the offensive line and in particular Goedeke, and how cemented guys are with starting gigs.
“We have the guys we’ve got,” Bowles said, sort of channeling a great Dirk Koetter line, essentially saying Ali Marpet is not walking through the players’ entrance at One Buc Palace.
“It’s always a guy here or a guy there” who is making a mistake resulting in a blown-up play. “Whether it is Luke or somebody else on the offensive line.
“We miss a block here or there or a guy swims us and gets by [a blocker], it makes us look worse than what it is. [If] we have to change some things from an offensive scheme standpoint we will do that. If we have to do something from a player standpoint we will do that as well.”
Bowles added that things aren’t going to get easier so time to man up.
“[Goedeke’s] not going to face any less competition,” Bowles said. “We are happy with the things we are doing. He’s giving up a few plays here or there but I wouldn’t single him out to be replaced. … We have to help him a little bit, too.”
Joe has been asked on Twitter several times if the Bucs plan to replace Goedeke or trade for another guard. Joe seriously doubts that. (GM Jason Licht loves Goedeke’s development.) And hearing Bowles today only reinforced Joe’s belief that the Bucs’ offensive line is their offensive line, now and through the season.
This will give fans who habitually blame the offensive line for everything from the cost of homeowners insurance to the prospects of nuclear war in Ukraine something to stomp their feet about for the next few months, and beyond.

Things are bad when I don’t feel like dogging out Durable Donnie.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:03 pm
God I hate the terms “man up” and “next man up.”
Licht and the “coaches” have been saying that ridiculous crap since Jensen went down and look at the mess it got us into.
Instead they should have gone after guys like Tretter and Suh who might have fortified our lines enough to make us competitive.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:06 pm
That Aaron Stinnie injury was bigger than I thought tbh. Goedeke maybe good with more work, remains to be seen, but holy crap is Aaron Donald going to violate this kid when we play LA w/Bob Hainsey helping him
October 17th, 2022 at 3:07 pm
Retired JC Tretter (because no one wanted him) and unemployed Suh (and we are near Halloween).
Even someone illiterate in math can add this up.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:09 pm
Luke has struggle yes. But leave the guy in its week 7 but dont leave him one on one , dont run the ball 80% behind him. The playcaller should help and figure out ways.
But guys that need to step up asap are as follow imo
Leftwhich
Shaq
Vea
C. Davis
Wirfs
Gage/ perriman/ miller
And brady!
October 17th, 2022 at 3:10 pm
I forgot the most important …
Special teams
Specially the coach. And darden.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:10 pm
Ryan Jensen injury.
Putting a newbie in between Donovan Smith and Jensen would have been fine. Jensen goes down and now you’ve got two guys with the same amount of experience in there next two each other.
And still Leftwich runs time after time behind them. Madness! Absolute madness. And that’s not on Goedeke and Hainsey. That’s on the fool not running behind the best right tackle in the game.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:11 pm
Bucs don’t need to replace players. They need to replace the offensive coordinator.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:14 pm
I’m surprised Tom Brady hasn’t choked Byron Leftwich yet. I’d sure like to.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:14 pm
If we have to change players? If we have to change scheme? So, when is that magical milestone going to happen for change to be enacted?
In the mind of the Coach, when is “If” going to occur – when our record is 7-9?
I mean, I understand the concept of playing with the players we have, but only so much blood can be squeezed out of a turnip.
I assume that Coach Bowles and coaches have already had multiple discussions on this topic, and have a plan in place already? Reading into his words it seems like the Bucs are ready to flip a switch, make some changes, and that is the magical solution? My question is: Are the Bucs actually prepared, with plans in place, to make changes? As we all know, drastic changes take time to implement – stuff that perhaps should’ve occurred, oh say, during training camp?
Sorry but his words have me quite puzzled.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:15 pm
Look they all make a mistake
Donnie gave up the strip sack and Wirfs set up to high and got beat on a tackle for loss
The QB sneak play demonstrates we have zero push on the interior and all 3 are so/so pass blockers
TB can’t get down the field because he doesn’t have time too more often than not
Major drop in production from the o line, period
October 17th, 2022 at 3:15 pm
Tretter retired due to non interest by teams that was precipitated by a blacklisting of Tretter due to being the outspoken Union boss for the NFLPA. Tretter is a player that can still get it done , but can the Bucs bust the NFL blackball on him-if Bucs want to win they will.
Sign Suh Now Jason Licht-your honeymoon for signing Brady officially ended when we lost to the Steelers.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:19 pm
It’s the lax coaches that need to be replaced…
October 17th, 2022 at 3:19 pm
Good call on bowles to sniff and adjust now versus wk 10-15. We should play 6 oline every play. Or 5 and kieft.
Why not have a fullback infront of lenny. ?
October 17th, 2022 at 3:20 pm
Sign Suh even just to have a BIG vet presents in the locker rm we need a big dog on campus we need a Draymon Green in the locker room
October 17th, 2022 at 3:20 pm
Oh, wait, I got it! Have Leftwich turn over his play-card to the back-side and start calling THOSE plays. Couldn’t hurt, could it? (Sarcasm). (Perhaps).
October 17th, 2022 at 3:21 pm
We’re set up to absolutely go gang busters and pass the ball to score, score, and score. Then, if necessary, try to pound the ball to eat clock. We’re doing this backwards right now. I don’t understand why the coaches don’t see this. We get ahead and unless we’re playing the Falcons, what do teams do when they’re down a few scores? PASS THE FREAKING BALL. What is Todd Bowles defensive philosophy?? STOP THE RUN. So if your Defense and Offense take away the option to run, then it sets up for the perfect situation for the Bucs.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:21 pm
RB vaughn is on the trade block.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:21 pm
Joe cannot buy Tretter is blacklisted. Teams have tens, maybe hundreds of millions of dollars on the line if they win. So what if they sign a guy who has been critical of them?
Hell, the Steelers hired a defensive coordinator who friggin’ sued the league and is already costing them millions in legal fees. Tretter hasn’t sued the league.
Hell, teams are throwing millions at an alleged serial handsy quarterback (Deshaun Watson) in order to try to win. So Tretter being a union rep is a joke compared to Brian Flores and Watson.
So the notion Tretter is blackballed is a reach.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:23 pm
I convinced Goedeke is Joe’s relative the way he defends him lol. JoeGoedekesFan.com
October 17th, 2022 at 3:23 pm
@Joe
Agreed, Jensen being absent, kind of made the LG competition an afterthought in camp, but Stinnie going down afterwards left us with 1 option apparently. The fact Hainsey & Goedeke act as 1 whole OLmen, which doesn’t bode well when we need 1 on 1 matchups one and blitzes picked up before breaching our LOS
October 17th, 2022 at 3:27 pm
See Kaepernick lawsuit for blackballing-Who paid? NFL that’s who.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:31 pm
Bowles press conference today confirms it for me. The man has no clue whatsoever on how to right this sinking rat infested ship. “We have to work harder”? “IF” we need to make changes we will. Our worst fear is becoming reality. You take a Super Bowl team and completely destroy it with loysy coaching and GM moves. Anybody seeing improvement from this team with each week that passes by? Bowles has no clue whatsoever. And his incompetent side kick Leftwich have left us in shambles. Sickening to me.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:31 pm
Goedeke is only a small part of our problems…….we have the talent on this team to win….
On the other side of the ball……we shut the Steelers down the entire game….even their first drive was extended by a stupid penalty……forced a FG on the long return……
Then….the last drive…..3rd and long twice….
I knew when we knocked Pickett out of the game we were toast.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:31 pm
Tretter played 1038 snaps in 2021 and allowed only one sack and was rated the 6th best center in the entire league-smell the coffee Joe.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:32 pm
Joe … ‘GM Jason Licht loves Goedeke’s development’.
Kinda gets me wondering if maybe Licht is being a little arrogant about this OLine. Home-grown is outstanding, as long as it’s getting the job done. Clearly it isn’t right now. Some rookies, like Wirfs, can step in & kick arse right out of the gate. Others need to be brought along more slowly. That may very well be what’s happening with Luke.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:35 pm
Bowles said, “[If] we have to change some things from an offensive scheme standpoint we will do that.” Well Todd, I think you’d better hop right on the white board, because this offense needs some things changed. Starting with BL. I mean, except for the O-line, which is still adequate, the offense is essentially unchanged from the last couple of years when the Bucs were putting up 30 points a game and Brady was throwing for 4 or 5 thousand yards. The only thing that has changed is that a defensive minded head coach is running the show. BA’s philosophy worked. Bowles’ philosophy (whatever that is) is not! Tell BL to go back to what he was doing when BA was coach.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:36 pm
I’m fine with Goedeke. He’ll have some growing pains, but we have gotten accustomed to rookies becoming pro bowlers and that’s simply not realistic. But there IS an issue, and it can be solved through play calling. Right now, BL is just exposing the LG himself.
Stop running it to the left. Stop running it on every first down. Try up tempo, screens, play action. Get creative for once in your life.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:38 pm
@ Joe
Agreed. BL trying to run up the middle with our current situation at C/LG is IDIOTIC…
It’s not just the rookie at LG stinking it up. The entire o-line is struggling. There is a missed assignment on just about every play.
Not much we can do about it at this point. We have the worst OC and LG in the NFL…
October 17th, 2022 at 3:38 pm
Colin the QB got a multimillion dollar settlement from the league for exactly the same behavior Tretter is getting.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:43 pm
The only personnel changes should be at OC. It takes time to develop young O-linemen. Marpet and Cappa weren’t ProBowlers in their first year. This is more about coaching who you have.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:44 pm
@76 – let’s not forget about Vick. He managed to do his time, make reparations, and change his image, which allowed him to actually play after his prison stint.
My wife and I rescue dogs, and we found Vick’s behavior to be disturbing, disgusting, and abhorrent. He changed though, at least that the public knows of, and changed his ways, so we both forgave him as he re-entered the NFL.
Colin’s story is fundamentally different.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:47 pm
Most of you just do not get it-Bucs are out of time-this is win now at all cost year. When you have available players that can be brought in to increase your chances of winning it must be done now.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:51 pm
Point I was making about Colin was that he was marked Persona Non Grata by the league and he proved it and they paid him millions because of it , nothing really about his story.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:52 pm
As I have watched this season progress, it seems to me Brady is more the cause of our failings, He seems to want to get rid of the ball way to fast… seeing ghosts. Once he gets hit the first time, this season usually first series he starts just letting the ball fly with no accuracy, just general direction. He is afraid to take a shot, I know he is 45 but he is out there, so play ball. It is hard to do much when your QB is almost totally immobile, can’t do a roll out, can’t slide the pocket, it is dropback only. We need to run more quick slats, quick outs to start the game to get teams out of the 2 high shell they run against us to keep ME13 from getting involved. But I think Brady need to stop being so scared….you can see it in his eyes and body language.
October 17th, 2022 at 3:53 pm
Yeah you big bullies, lay off Luke. He’s terrible but doing the best he can lol.

Everyone singling out Luke Goedeke got me wondering what was really going on in yesterday’s game in terms of why we only scored 18 points. Bucs only had 10 total drives. We punted 5 times, scored ONE TD and had to settle for FOUR FGs. So we scored FIVE times, but only scored 18 points. Something’s drastically wrong when that happens to a talented offense led by Tom Brady.
And indeed something was wrong. Bucs had 14 3rd-down opportunities in that game; we converted only 4 of them (28.6%). Bucs had 6 opportunities in the 1st half; attempted to pass on ALL SIX. Brady completed ONE (for a 1st down), had 4 Incomplete, and got sacked once.
Bucs had 8 opportunities in the 2nd half; we converted only 3 of those. Of note, 2 of those 3 conversions were by Fournette runs OVER THE RIGHT GUARD; he also failed on 1 other conversion, and that was OVER THE LEFT TACKLE. Brady also rushed for 1 with a QB sneak OVER THE MIDDLE & didn’t even come close. Duh! Brady attempted to pass on the other 4 of the 3rd-down conversions, completed 3 of those, but only converted on ONE 3rd down by passing.
So all told, Bucs rushed on 4 of the 14 3rd-down opportunities and made 2 of them (2 by Lenny rushing OVER THE RIGHT GUARD, plus he converted on a 4th-and-1 by rushing AROUND THE RIGHT END). Brady attempted to throw on the other 10 3rd-down opportunities; converted on TWO of them, got sacked once, and failed on the other 7 (most of those in the first 2 & a half quarters).
And that’s why we ended up settling for FGs instead of scoring TDs … we couldn’t convert on 3rd downs. Take a close look at the play-calling on those 3rd downs if you want to see why we did so poorly.

time for a flash poll confidence in hc/oc poll

October 17th, 2022 at 4:10 pm
Bowles , by his own statement, admits he’s a” defensive guy”–so thats why he dosen’t walk down the sideline to tell lefty to change strategy . So , I guess he dosen’t use a red pen …With this coaching we’ll be lucky to finish season at .500…
In NE , brady would also rant at players from time – to -time, but he’d played with those guys for many years –its not the same here ..
sooner or later , the locker room will start to split into factions –and then its over ..
licht is too stubborn to make changes to what he created. So , unless Glazers shake things up –nothing much will change
October 17th, 2022 at 4:11 pm
This is BS from Bowles. It’s one bad play call on the goal line that was the deciding factor. You pull your rookie left guard and ask your center to throw a cut block on the goal line? What were you thinking Leftwich? Hainsey wiffed on the block and the end result is Fournette dropped 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage which led to FG rather than a TD. That’s the difference in a W and an L. All it takes is one bad play to lose any game. Goedeke and Hainsey each made a few bad plays. Goedeke needs to sit period. Stubborness is going to be the downfall of Coach Bowles.
October 17th, 2022 at 4:18 pm
if bowles is just a defense guy why then is he the head coach? we are in big trouble of this season going down the tubes.
October 17th, 2022 at 4:35 pm
I agree that Brady is letting passes go too fast…..sometimes, I don’t think he takes the time to look for an open receiver…..just tosses it.
And, I notice that our receivers are not getting open often.
As far as the drop by Gage in the end zone….take a look at that pass/catch opportunity again…it was a very difficult pass to catch…I’ll cut him a bit of slak.
October 17th, 2022 at 4:45 pm
I’d love to see the All 22 film–every pass Brady completed (outside of swing passes) was threading a needle–literally NO ONE was gaining speration during the short span before he had to get rid of the ball. I can’t believe Brady was failing to notice -arse open receivers
October 17th, 2022 at 4:45 pm
Bucs can’t run off RG any more than LG.
Problem seems to be outcoached- opponents are disguising their D’s to sucker Bucs offense into a predictable play.
October 17th, 2022 at 4:52 pm
Sad part if you wanted to make an o-line change the guys on the bench are a lot worse than the guys on the field.
October 17th, 2022 at 5:10 pm

Bowels was a horrible choice.
I blame Licht for this crappy offseason

They were way the hell over drafted
It’s lichts fault

October 17th, 2022 at 5:43 pm
Translation; nothing will change.
October 17th, 2022 at 5:46 pm
If anyone thinks it is not the C, LG, and LT as the problem, you are not watching the game with your eyes, you are watching with your heart. Man up! See what I did there? Call it like you see it. Tod is. He said it’s a different guy each play and his is 100% correct. 1st down it’s the C and LG, 2nd down it’s the LG, 3rd down it’s the LG and LT.
October 17th, 2022 at 5:48 pm
If you don’t like the run game now, just wait till next week.
October 17th, 2022 at 6:02 pm
Didn’t play football, born with LOFT, so I am asking. You former players at whatever level, wouldn’t you be getting disgusted with the play calling as well. Is it proper to question the decisions and make suggestions or are you expected to fall in, keep you mouth shut and bitch to the wife? If you have one or split up.
Just asking. Yeah I know ..dumb ass, blah blah blah.
October 17th, 2022 at 6:08 pm
Hey Uncle you watching the DLine
No Push
Oh ya we get sacks when we Blitz two
THERE IS NO FIRE ON THIS TEAM AT ALL!!!
Why???? COACH SETS THE TONE
October 17th, 2022 at 6:08 pm
Goedeke is burning garbage on top of a pile of elephant manure.
Hainsey looks between his legs as he’s snapping the ball. You can see this in numerous plays from the game.
Our OLINE is a major weakness of our team.
Our QB is not all in. Compare MJ’s Last Dance season to TB12’s 2022 season. No comparison.
Our coaches can’t scheme plays to get the ball into one of our greatest weapons in future HOF Mike Evans. If Andy Reid had ME13 he would have numerous plays that got him the ball often.
Defensively we are horribly coached when it comes to situational football.
Those are the Bucs issues.
October 17th, 2022 at 6:15 pm
Just like 2020. At 7-5 I was certain things were going South…then they didn’t. I feel today, like I did then.
The team looks flat, sloppy, tired, injured, etc.
Its a long season. Let’s see what happens.
October 17th, 2022 at 6:16 pm
Lenny’s best runs seem to be on the left side, as long as a linebacker doesn’t plug the gap. Like Moose said, once he gets going downhill, he’s a load to try and bring down. Fournette Is Doing His Job.
October 17th, 2022 at 6:25 pm
1000%.
This is exactly what I said yesterday. We would prob be fine with EITHER Goedke or Hainsey, but the 2 of them next to each other is just a weak link.
And then of course you have our overrated OC who doesn’t change ANYTHING in his scheme to counteract this weakness or cover it up. Just lines his guys up, telegraphs what the play is, and prays they can overmatch the defense.
Re: what Bowles said here… well he actually said nothing except ‘it is what it is.’
October 17th, 2022 at 6:27 pm
Assuming that the Bucs make the playoffs do you trust Goedeke and Hainsey’s ability to stop Aaron Donald in the A gap? Fletcher Cox in the A gap?
Those are Pro Bowl level DT with two future HOFers in Cox and Donald, and one who is argued as the greatest ever at his position in Donald.
October 17th, 2022 at 6:28 pm
Yeah, this is simple…..
ADRNAGY even mentions it.
We used this package quite a bit last year and it works to improve the run game and allow some max protect for Brady…
They need to bring in the 6th OL as a TE…
They can double guys better in the interior and pound the ball better as well.
I passing game, it will aid Brady & give him a little more time by doubling in the interior….
Why the hell is that folks that watch the game can scheme a plan better than Leftwich??? He’s got to go!!!!
October 17th, 2022 at 6:33 pm

“Ryan Jensen injury.”
Yup. A lot of fans think replacing a good center is easy…it’s not. Especially for the Buccaneers. That’s why we need to keep the good ones and look for another that has strong potential.
Center is the hardest spot on the oline to fill properly.
October 17th, 2022 at 7:13 pm
@Joe
Let’s not be obtuse. JC Tretter retired because he was outspoken about player safety as President of the NFL Players Association. It was common knowledge. He was and is a helluva lot better than Hainsey.
October 17th, 2022 at 7:22 pm
The season is not over, but if any more eggs are laid, it will be.
You’re supposed to beat the teams you’re supposed to beat and challenge the rest.
The Pittsburg game should embarrass every Buc and coach to their very core.
Even Tom Brady. How about showing some leadership and heart?
Frankly, after six games of pathetic football, I am not hopeful. Unless they do a 180 and prove otherwise, this is not a good team.
October 17th, 2022 at 7:22 pm
So exactly WHAT is Jensen’s rehab status?
October 17th, 2022 at 7:40 pm
I would guess December, else they wouldn’t have gone to such grief to keep him off IR during preseason, like Stinnie
October 17th, 2022 at 8:01 pm
Again, there is zero evidence of this.
October 17th, 2022 at 8:48 pm
Yes Joe, and if there was evidence of this there would be a RICO lawsuit. That is stating the obvious.
October 17th, 2022 at 8:53 pm
Play calling is predictable. Goedeke is pushed back into Brady immediately or just completely blown by on most plays. Maybe he would be better if the play calls weren’t so telegraphed. Byron and Bowles are both without any energy at all and the team has taken on their image.
October 17th, 2022 at 9:23 pm
We all know what the problem is and it ain’t 67, it’s the unimaginative OC Brains Leftout. It’s time for BA to get back on the headset.
October 17th, 2022 at 10:11 pm
“We got what we got.” “We do what we do.” I never expect brilliance from these mandatory post-game Q and As (all Belichick does it grumble and mumble), but come on.
And if an opposing defender blows up the blocker (whoever it is), how does that make “it look worse than it is”? It happened. It IS. It’s bad, and should not be happening. It is the responsibility of the player who got blown up and/or whoever called the play and/or all parties involved in executing the play, or failing to.
October 17th, 2022 at 10:47 pm
Coach needs to own it. We are not a good football team. We excused things in week 1; overlooked them in Week 2; excused Week 3 b/c of a lack of available WRs; got boat-raced in Week 4 but claimed the O was back; flat out sucked for the last 30 mins of a win aided by zebras in Week 5; and humiliated ourselves against a lousy Steelers team in Week 6.
What do we do well? NOTHING
What’s our identity? TB12 v Mrs TB12
Our special teams (save the kickers) are lousy.
We have serial loafers—looking at you 50!
And we’re predictable in all phases.
That’s all on you Todd! I’m sorry to say it, but the inability to get off the field on 3rd and long is every bit as pathetic as the Os ineptitude in the Red Zone.
Todd keeps talking about January—WAKE UP DUDE—we’re trending in the opposite direction of the Falcons. What January? Anything short of a comfortable win against the Panthers should put our HC on the hot seat.

Anyone who thinks Goedeke is the reason the offense is failing is literally an idiot. The sorry a– offense is on person, Leftwich. Period. If that idiot called a better game, we’d get better results.

Instead they should have gone after guys like Tretter and Suh
Retired JC Tretter (because no one wanted him) and unemployed Suh (and we are near Halloween).
Even someone illiterate in math can add this up.
Yes the math does add up, J Licht was not willing to pony up the money to Suh, and then the Bucs then wasted money on an oft injured replacement.
Looks like Bad Math, kind of like the” New Math” that was being taught to me back in the 70’s at school, that my parents wondered what the heck they were teaching us, and calling it New Math.
GO BUCS!!!!

Goedecke looks so bad… because he’s not very good, but mostly because Leftwich puts them all in position to fail time and again. And Brady will not hold on to the ball and get hit. I wouldn’t risk my health for this dumpster fire either. If the team was playing well you would only see a couple dodges or ducks a game. Once he gets nervous feet it doesn’t stop. Like Mahomes in the Super Bowl… like every quarterback ever.
The only thing that’s worked this year… literally th only thing is when Brady goes no huddle and Leftwich doesn’t get a say in ruining the play call

The Bucs went from the best or close to it offensive lines, to a shell of what Brady and Company have been used to the last 2 years.
BL is a hinderance, that is for sure, but the shell of an O line is the biggest problem.
And it will be said more and more by many, about how Bowles talked to Dungy before the game against Dallas, there has been an emphasis on physicality, running the ball more.
Note to Bowles, uh its not working, the O line is not capable of playing the way Bowles wants.
BL is following the dictates of Bowles, which has so far meant taking the air out of the football and it is not working.
Unless Bowles and BL are willing to get real about it, it will not change. Again, look at Bowles to why the offense is set up this way.
Bowles is a defensive guy, and wants to help the defense out, by being more well rounded. I get it, to play complimentive football
But the only well rounded thing so far is the well rounded loss to Pittsburgh, and a well rounded 3-3 record💩🏈💩
So this is what it looks like when you do not have the personnel yet to play the football that you are scheming. Forcing a round peg in square a hole.
The O line is a massive work in progress, and it will take time.
So I hope Bowles is willing to change before the Bucs end up with a crappy season in total.
Go back to what works, like the last couple of years and as the line gets better, then you can morph into a more of a physical running team, but right now, the Bucs O line is just are not there yet to play that way.
GO BUCS!!!!!

The Bucs will not make any meaningful changes to their offensive line, their offensive scheme, or otherwise. Bowles is the most passive, non-reactive coach in football. A Brady revolt could change things, but even then, with that sub-average O-line probably not. The completely predictable offensive play-calling and self-satisfied attitude of the coaches and the front office does demonstrate a suoer bowl hangover, as Bowles said yesterday – by the coaches!!

Still one would think if we are serious about a run of any kind, we would have gone all out to solidify our O line. And at times Our D line does this Houdini act for 2 whole qtrs. It ain;t all on the coaches. And people who know the game know this to be true.

Heres an idea… trade Devin White for someone who doesn’t get bored… maybe a guard or DT who can pay attention for about 60 minutes on Sundays…

“Hell, the Steelers hired a defensive coordinator who friggin’ sued the league and is already costing them millions in legal fees.”
Joe, don’t conflate the Tretter situation with Flores. Flores filed a claim of discrimination against the league. They are not going to interfere with him getting hired with another team to avoid charges of retaliation. Tretter, on the other hand, may very well be out of a job because of a wink and a nod agreement among owners. It’s not like that hasn’t happened before in the NFL (i.e. Kaepernick) or maybe Tretter is washed up. At any rate, the Flores situation is different. I have to trust that the Bucs do not feel it is necessary to sign Tretter.

When the 6th rated Center in the league in Tretter who went 1086 snaps and only gave up 1 sack is not even brought in for a look see by teams that have lost starting centers and are supposedly in a MUST WIN NOW year , really you think this is not EVIDENCE-You are WAY smarter than that Joe , but I do understand that this is your living and you have to be somewhat guarded in your criticisms.

Just change the O/C and that will solve most of the problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been around this site awhile, and have read plenty of funny things, but when someone posted “www.JoeGoedekeFan.com” I laughed pretty hard.

NO HEART = LOSING TO BAD TEAMS!

Wasn’t Luke a tight end and then right tackle in college? Seems like he’s being shown to the wolves changing positions and being a starter in the NFL without having a chance to process the speed of things at this level. Pick up a strong guard before the trade deadline, maybe even Suh to help with the D line. Otherwise, any updates on Jensen?

Hayward, an elite DT for the Steelers dominated Goedeke and controlled both the A and B gaps, every LB’s and defensive coordinators dream.
Hainsey failed at helping him.
Steelers overwhelmed the A and B gap.
Backside DE lined up outside shoulder or wide and that gave us fits too because LB blitzing had a free shot through the open gap. DE got home too.
Film don’t lie.

If you have a weak spot, good coaches scheme around that… that’s what Pittsburgh did with three or four weak spots. But they have good coaches. The Bucs, arguably, do not.
