Heroic Hustle
October 17th, 2022Joe’s not sure if Bucs kickoff artist Jake Camarda is ordered to kick balls out of the end zone.
Joe sure hopes he is.
One could make a flimsy argument that miserable kickoff coverage cost the Bucs dearly in Pittsburgh yesterday, the site of perhaps the biggest upset this NFL season.
Joe thought the Bucs would come out to start the second half, trailing 10-9, with a raging fire after being embarrassed by a severely undermanned Pittsburgh team in the first half. Instead, the opening kickoff was taken 89 yards by backup Steelers returner Steven Sims, who admitted after the game that his lingering eye injury from last week was screwing up his vision.
Sims caught the kickoff at the goal line and ran untouched to the Bucs’ 12 yard line where he was chased down from behind by a heroic hustle play from Jamel Dean, who fought off a block and exploded after Sims like he was fired out of a cannon. Rookie Zyon McCollum twice missed Sims on the play.
The Bucs kept Pittsburgh out of the end zone. They kicked a field goal after a 3-and-out.
Maybe, just maybe, the Bucs win if Camarda kicks the ball out of the end zone, or if the Bucs hadn’t turned Sims into Devin Hester.

would love to know what top speed he hit, dude was cooking

Camarda needs to stop shanking kicks also. Crazy this team is so poorly coached at the moment can always count on a pre snap penalty at the goal line just like a run up the middle is a guarantee. Have this staff 6 weeks nothing has changed something better change n quick!

The Oline blows. Hard to run any offense when the trenches suck
October 17th, 2022 at 8:21 am
Bye bye leftwich.
Bye bye dardin. Scarred to death to return the ball. Either falls down,or heads to get out of bounds. Never seen something as obvious.
October 17th, 2022 at 8:22 am
It seems if Camarda doesn’t punt it with 25 seconds hang time (and he can punt with hang time) the PR gets some yards.
I agree…kick it out of the endzone……Pinion was great at that and that’s a good thing……because our coverage was as bad then as it is now.
Jamel Dean is working on a good contract….
October 17th, 2022 at 8:28 am
Carmada. Thanks Licht!! Is he really better than Pinion?
October 17th, 2022 at 8:29 am
Well, If Brady had not attended that wedding maybe the special teams would’ve played better.
October 17th, 2022 at 8:30 am
I watch other teams lose key players and they just keep getting up, but this team damn they just dont know how to adapted. Look they got fire from NY for a reason and that reason is they suck they always have sucked.
October 17th, 2022 at 8:31 am
Sims with 1 eye is a better returner then Darden with 2. You hate to see it. Lol has no idea he was a backup returner. Lol why did the special teams coach not get fired last year? Our teams play has been bad since he got here and his teams were bad in Atlanta. Real question is why the hell our both our starting corners on special teams? Honest question lol
October 17th, 2022 at 8:32 am
Mr. Bowles Mr Leftwitch its going be hard to explain why this team is in a free fall after the last 2 season under Araise it was flourishing
October 17th, 2022 at 8:39 am
Does the coaching staff ever LEARN from watching game film of themselves? Any fool can see the play calling is NOT working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 17th, 2022 at 8:41 am
Excellent effort and actually working on getting the Pitt guy to fumble was double effort
October 17th, 2022 at 8:43 am
The bucs ST coach needs to be canned ASAP; he is gawd awful and has been since he was on the Falcons; Get Biasaccia back here in Tampa as ST coach
October 17th, 2022 at 8:46 am
Brian Daboll is a master play caller. This guy would have this team rolling, and he was available
October 17th, 2022 at 8:47 am
Keith Armstrong isn’t going anywhere and we know why, but it’s politically incorrect to say so.
October 17th, 2022 at 8:48 am
Dear coach Arians,
I’m like a kid who just found out his football team sucks and there is no help for our future. Please come back home and renew my faith in OUR Buccaneers. I promise to always believe in no risk it no biscuit.
Forever yours,
Bucs fan for life

I was not too big on the punter during preseason but so far, I think he has done a good job. Unfortunately I can’t say it is an improvement over last years punter. About the same.
I think they are trying to get cute with these kickoffs. They are trying to get it +/- 2 yards from the goal line so the opponent returns it. They are hoping through their superior coverage team unit, that the returner only makes it to the 20 yd line or less, or maybe fumbles or whatever. Camarda is a guy who can drop it in on Kicks and Punts. That is part of his deal. Directional, touch, whatever you want to call it. Sure, at Georgia where the guys on special teams are guys that will be starting soon, or guys who would be starting elsewhere, it works. Here, not so much. If I were Joe I would ask Armstrong. Was this intentional? or was it the wind? Camarda? Why???
October 17th, 2022 at 8:54 am
what is it called when someone keeps doing the same thing over and over and expects different results?
October 17th, 2022 at 8:55 am
If it wasn’t for Brady as our QB, BUCS will be sitting in a 0-6 right now. These inept and incompetent coaches have no idea how to win ball games. They are like deer in a headlight. Come on., JACK wake up!!
October 17th, 2022 at 8:56 am
Carlton Davis gets some credit here also for running him down
October 17th, 2022 at 9:02 am
Joe needs to start taking about the ineptitude of this coaching staff. Todd Bowles is having a repeat of his Jets coaching experience. Absolutely clueless coaching on exhibit.
October 17th, 2022 at 9:14 am
Well this is just a mess now. Brady is playing with his head up his a$$…Coaching staff is clueless (terrible play calling on both sides of the ball) and players are playing undisciplined football. This team is a mess right now. Should have blown the injury riddled Steelers out by at least 20 points.
October 17th, 2022 at 9:15 am
I’m still simmering from that putrid effort from this team yesterday. There is very little to like about the 2022 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Biggest disappointment in the NFL this year. An entire organizational disaster.
I hope the Glazers fire the entire coaching staff. Every last one of them.
October 17th, 2022 at 9:27 am
Dean played really good in the game too. One of only a few they did yesterday
October 17th, 2022 at 9:27 am
Heroic? Gimme a break! I didn’t see any bullets flying, bombs exploding, fires or flash floods on that particular play. Dean was doing what he is paid to do.
October 17th, 2022 at 9:51 am
BUcs from being a contender to just becoming a pretender. Bowles is just good enough to coach a D2 college ball and Leftwich, maybe a high school team. AT least the BUCS have diversity which according to sports pundits, makes us stronger… LOL!!!
October 17th, 2022 at 10:01 am
Didn’t Dean blowout 1 ACL at Ohio St. and then the other ACL at Auburn? I remember that was the concern pre draft.
October 17th, 2022 at 10:07 am
Bucs Special Teams Coordinator had this to say about Camarda after the draft.
” As a kickoff guy, he has a tremendous leg – does a really good job with that. And there’s still some room for him to develop, but I love all those things about him. Athletically, what he brings as a competitor and then also just him as a person in terms of his mental toughness, which shows up in other areas.”
Then kick the ball out of the end zone. Camarda was so unathletic when the returner that juked him I thought he had broken his ankle. You do NOT use high picks on specialists-PERIOD..
October 17th, 2022 at 10:47 am
Great hustle play by Davis chasing down the returner and trying to punch the ball out. Reminds me of the Saints game a couple of weeks ago when the Seahawks Tariq Woolen chased down Taysom Hill. Though Hill scored Woolen’s 4.26 speed make Hill look like he was walking.
Joe(s); I know others on here have asked but how do I find my archived posts?
October 17th, 2022 at 1:30 pm
Way to ball out Jamel! I love effort like that. Thats what makes me a fan. Spread it around Jamel. Go talk to Leftwich today for us
October 17th, 2022 at 8:11 pm
Haven’t we been hearing what a blazer rookie #27 McCollum is. Doesn’t seem to.fast.on this play.
October 18th, 2022 at 6:25 am
Guess you all miss the kickoffs when his hang time was so good AND the players actually were downfield when the KR got the ball and he was tackles at the before the 20. It’s not Camardas fault its the other players not doing their job. On the big return it seemed like no one looked where the ball went and ran straight ahead. Dude had a 30 yard lane to run thru!
October 18th, 2022 at 9:47 am
And while we are at it, let’s take a knee whenever we can. 25 yard line is fine.
