Sorry, but Tom Brady at a wedding Friday night is not responsible for horrible special teams coverage, the Steelers converting 7-of-15 on third down with bad quarterbacks, and the Bucs’ league-worst, yards-per-carry average.
Joe realizes the national media is going wild with the report of Brady going to creepy Bob Kraft’s wedding in New York City on Friday and skipping the Bucs’ walk-through practice session on Saturday.
They’ll tell you that’s a key reason the Bucs were upset 20-18 by Pittsburgh this afternoon.
Even close Brady friend Michael Strahan was poking Brady on the FOX-TV halftime show, noting that if you miss that practice you better come out and play well. Terry Bradshaw was blasting Brady, saying he never would have considered such a thing during his Hall of Fame career.
Joe gets that Brady had a subpar day today, though he seemed sharper than most of the guys around him. And perhaps that’s the point, Brady is needed to raise the games of others during the week so they’re ready for gameday. Joe doesn’t buy it, but it’s a fair argument.
Joe wishes it was fair to blame Brady and his wedding jaunt for today’s loss. That would be much less troubling than the alternative — blaming a complete team and apparent leadership breakdown.

Joe your argument is flawed, bc you’re only focusing on todays game. Brady has yet to look sharp all season. He’s missed reads, checked the ball down too early, and just straight miss-fired too many times ALL SEASON.
To argue that his absence wasn’t a problem misses the fact that Brady is leading with a ‘do as I say, not as I do’ style of leadership. Your status means nothing any given Sunday, results in the moment matter today. They’re lacking.

Brady going to the wedding means nothing about how he played today.
Brady didn’t play up to par, even though his receivers were part of that issue.
If you get pressure on Brady early, you can rattle him and make him speed up his internal clock. Then he rushes throws he doesn’t need to rush.
That happened today. One example was a duck that was way off target to Godwin from only like 7 yards away. That was Brady rushing because he got hit early.
This isn’t new for Brady. He’s always been like this. Missing the walk through doesn’t matter, his age doesn’t matter. If you protect him and he feels comfortable early in a game, he won’t do this.
That said, he’s still not comfortable with all his receivers. And the Gage drop won’t help on that.
Just have to keep working through it.
Ignore the Brady haters. They can’t wait to get rid of him, but he’s not the problem.

Does anyone really think that Brady being out of a walk-through made any difference at all? This is the same effort that we have seen from this team for 6 games. Bruce knew what to do with Brady and they were an offensive machine.

Brady has not been good all year. Make excuses all you want, but the fact is, is that all this missed time is the reason he doesn’t look good. Throw into the fact that Todd Bowles and Byron Leftwich just aren’t good coaches, and you have a crappy season. They should have insisted that Brady stay retired and started the rebuilding process.

I think there’s a lot going on here. We miss the defensive leadership of JPP and Suh. White is now the team leader and I don’t think he’s good enough to be the defensive leader. On offense, there’s no way TB divorce isn’t affecting him. This team just doesn’t have the chemistry right now.

Brady is playing better than both Elway and Manning in their final seasons, both ending in Super Bowl wins. The difference is both teams had excellent running games, solid defenses, and the same HC from the year before. We are missing two out of those three. BL’s game plan was horrible today, and his play calling was even worse.
Still, we had a chance to win with the Steelers backed up on third and long, and for some reason, Bowles, the most prolific Blitz caller in the NFL, did not send the house.
Hell, Barry Switzer was smart enough not to impose his philosophy on the Cowboys after JJ’s departure, and he won a Super Bowl. No risk it, no biscuit, worked. Why have we abandoned that attacking style. Easy to say it’s Bowles’s ego, but I think it may go deeper. Brady seemed to embrace the new approach before the season, and the evidence suggests he’s still all in. Why? Brady certainly has the discretion to check out of these terrible run calls, but he’s not doing it. Why?
A cynic might say he’s just trying to preserve his health and get through this season without getting killed. Something just ain’t right.

The offense can’t get into any kind of rhythm. Brady’s a rhythm QB. Always has been. The disjointed play calling is atrocious. There were obvious play action opportunities that never got exploited. I fully believe that this conservative garbage is coming straight from Bowles. All he could talk about was not being able to make 3rd and short. He has no clue that wasting those first downs constantly gives you one shot at it. First down run for -4 to 2 yards. Second down pass for 7-9 yards . Third down up the gut for 0. How many times.

Interesting thing to see is how Brady responds to being criticized for being mediocre. Guys like him and Michael Jordan can’t do that, and Brady won’t retire as a mediocre. Drama doesn’t matter. The facts were there he got outplayed by Pittsburgh QBs, couldn’t throw on a 1-4 team with an entire injured secondary. Missed receivers over 5 times and kept throwing to underneath guys on 3 rd down rather than pass 3 yards further for 1st downs. Put the drama aside, can he get that ultra competitive thing that makes him the GOAT. The only thing he has never had to face and , was his own poor play. We win or lose with the GOAt.

Leftwich is such a POS and a terrible coach I literally wouldn’t be shocked if Brady retired this week and went back to his wife. Hopefully Brady gives the Glazers a call first so they could fire Leftwich instead.

The inability to hold on numerous 3rd downs and I’m done with Darden returning kicks 4 feet before diving into a defender…. But optics show me that Tom Brady is not the person we expect. He never smiles, his leadership (on camera at least) is only to yell at players and he misses wide open targets! Yes Godwin was wide open in the middle on that 3rd down and Brady missed him! He seems checked out and for a guy that instilled the motto of full commitment, this is tough to watch!

He doesn’t get a pass from me. He was Charlie Check Down all day. He didn’t go long at all, and his passing was very subpar. It is not a stretch to say he got outplayed by Mitch Trubisky. He did not get the job done. It was obvious he wasn’t fully vested in this game early on. He got better, but it was too late, and not enough. If you don’t play good, you should get told so.

End of day one of biggest reasons we lost was our coaches were too inept to call a timeout when our defense was panicking trying to get guys subbed and lined up and surprise surprised they weren’t ready when it was snapped

Those of us on this site who BEGGED the Bucs to get a legitimate guard and center after Jensen and Stinnie were injured for the season were laughed at.
We said losing Marpet, Jensen and Stinnie would cause the OLINE to become a weakness with a 45 year old QB to protect.

Goedeke is a project who got destroyed today by the Steelers. Aaron Donald will line up right over top of him and own him.
Hainsey needs to look between his legs routinely to locate his target. That’s not a high caliber NFL center.
Aaron Donald will shoot that A gap a destroy Goedeke and Hainsey on his way to burying TB12.
OLINE isn’t as glitzy as Gronk or a high profile WR, but they are more important than Gronk or a WR when it comes to protecting 45 year old TB12 with two unproven players who are clearly not ready.

Brady is half in half out mentally. He either needs to be all in or it is time to retire. I would prefer he step away before the embarrassment gets worse. He’s brought us two great seasons and a Super Bowl. We need to learn to live and play without him.

What we witnessed yesterday was bad. You can say Brady is the goat and he has 7 super bowl rings. However you can’t not say Tom played good at all today. It’s as much Brady’s fault as Leftwich… especially considering this is the same slant, drag, hitch, hook, shallow cross dink and dunk offense Tom ran in New England. Brady is involved in the offensive game planning and has final say on what play is called… until he steps it up, his GOAT ego has surpassed his GOAT skills. To me, that’s his biggest obstacle since he’s been a Buc… his ego.
