The trade deadline is less than three weeks away, Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. Will the Bucs be players?
Albert Breer believes so.
In his weekly mailbag column, Breer, of SI.com, was asked what teams will be buyers and what teams will be sellers.
Breer noted the Stinking Panthers might be the top sellers as they have limited draft picks and may want to build draft capital to go get a quarterback. Breer tossed out the Bears, the Steelers and the Commandos, too.
As for buyers, yes, Breer mentioned the Bucs in his first sentence. And Breer believes he knows who the Bucs are after.
As for teams looking to buy, the Packers and Bucs would be at the top of the list, because of the championship windows they’re in that won’t stay open forever (hello, Odell).
Man, if the Steelers are looking to shop players, they have several the Bucs could use. Same with the Commandos.
Licht might be able to swoop in and get a decent player or two, in addition to Odell Beckham.

They better be players because the team as of now won’t win the super bowl. A good guard, a good receiver, a good d lineman would help. Plus talk Gronk out of retirement. Don’t waste Brady’s potential last year playing, by not going all in ala the Rams last year.

I’m not a fan at giving up draft picks at this point…..Beckam wouldn’t cost one….
Someone correct me if I’m wrong: The 2023 draft positions for the Bucs.
1, 2, 3,5 & 2 6th round picks…..the comp pics haven’t been awarded yet but we should receive a 3rd round pick for the Bowles promotion to HC.

Burns is the only one I’d go after….work a trade with JTS in the mix. Yeah, JTS, he flashes now and then but Burns is the real deal.

The only problem with taking Burns is you have to take Smithers too. Nobody wants Smithers.

Drop Hicks, who lasted even less time than I thought, and replace him with someone who can play the rest of the season.
Other than that, save the money and see if Bowles can make the team work. Next season will be a whole new world for the Bucs, so no need for extraneous contracts to adjust.

Bucs won’t receive a 3rd round compensatory pick for Bowles, because he is an internal promotion.

Part of me wouldn’t mind if we sniffed at the Panthers for Mayfield. If it’s a cheap deal, maybe some time around Brady and in an actual offense could salvage him.

Gronk and BA
The difference between the last two years and this season offensive production. Losing Gronk and BA seem to be a big adjustment. I’d love to get Gronk back mid-season. It would be the shot in the arm the Bucs need.

If we lose Brady we are in rebuild mode period
This is an all in season period

I doubt the bears or Panthers would trade with an inter conference foe. What sucks is the Giants are actually good. I thought Barkley would become available. He still could I guess, but again, another NFC team. A potential move would be Nelson Agholor, or Kendrick Bourne. They’re both in Bill’s doghouse, and Licht and Belichick have always made deals. Either one would give the brady a bonafide NFL reciever.

There’s no question that this is an ‘All-In’ season for the Bucs. And it’s probably the last chance we’ll have to compete for a Super Bowl for several years (we’ve dug ourselves a REALLY DEEP HOLE from a salary CAP perspective & it’ll take several years to dig ourselves out). There’s an excellent chance that quite a few starters won’t be here next season.
Still, we’ve got weaknesses right now in several position groups. Only 3 ways that I can think of to solve those: (1) get key players (like Jensen? Hicks?) back from IR; (2) get the guys currently in the positions to play better (and they SHOULD improve over the season; or (3) bring someone in to upgrade the position via trade or free agency. IF we’re really serious about making another run for the championship, all 3 approaches to solving the dilemma should be in-play constantly.
My biggest concern is the DLine because we’re proving to be vulnerable to the run AND we’re not getting enough of a pass rush. I’m not holding my breath on Hicks making it back anytime soon and staying back. The guys we have on the DLine now don’t scream ‘Hey, look at me, I’m HOF-material’. That leaves us with what’s behind Door #3. Washington & Carolina seem to have relatively good DLines; MAYBE one of them will be interested in a trade.

We have Lenny , Vaughn, & White … Maybe he can trade Bernard–otherwise ,I don’t know why he’s still taking a roster spot ???
