“It’s Sickening As An Individual”
October 3rd, 2022Manbeast defensive tackle Vita Vea got a ton of playing time last night against the Chiefs and he didn’t like what he experienced.
Vea’s 57 snaps were his most since last Halloween. Heck, he had only broken 40 snaps twice in his previous 13 games.
But despite all that work for the Bucs’ Pro Bowler, the Chiefs gutted and gashed the Bucs run defense for 189 yards on 37 carries.
Vea told pay-per-view site TheAthletic.com that he’s upset with himself.
“It’s just tough all the way around, any way you look at it,” Vea said. “Especially being on the defense and giving up that many points, it’s sickening as an individual. I’m not speaking about the defense as a whole. I feel sick to my stomach the way I performed.”
Joe was tossing and turning all night and sipping Big Storm beer thinking about the Bucs’ run defense. It went from legendary in 2019 and 2020, to very good in 2021. Now it’s average at best.
Next up is Atlanta, which is averaging a whopping 168 yards rushing per game this season.
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:15 am
Hope this was a massive wake up call but I fear the Falcons are going to come in here and punch this team right in the face. – Hope I’m wrong.
Go Bucs!
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:16 am
He is a BUST. Exposed without Suh.
Overweight. Soft as pudding.
Horrible extension.
Got paid and went to the buffet
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:19 am
Have to wonder if it’s just too many snaps for the guy
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:20 am
His second contract could be his last if he doesn’t start showing up.
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:22 am
It’s like they were soft, lacking physicality.
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:22 am
Suh
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:23 am
We’ll know soon enough whether it’s talent or attitude
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:23 am
Right to pissed…..Nobody noticed he was on the field…..This things happen, he is a great player….
Now the season really start, when you have to win games you should, and there is no margin of error.
If we start throwing the ball i am optimistic, if not….we will be in pain..
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:27 am
What was really sick was seeing a RB with 4 tacklers on him and still taking them 5 yards down field. The defense was degusting top to bottom. Suh would not helped this mess no matter what . This line looks like it is physically out of shape and out matched.
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:30 am
That was pathetic.
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:31 am
Suh
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:32 am
Suh is still out there for a reason, but hes better than hicks on the bench, Suh never missed a game either.
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:32 am
Dude not a bust not he’ll never be one of the best to do it. He just doesn’t have the hunger or nastiness needed to be dominant. He should be wrecking dudes but because of nacho playing next to him he’ll get all the double teams. Hicks was missed big time
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:41 am
Did he even play last night? I’m actually starting to question why Suh has not been re-signed at this point..
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:42 am
Bucs did not just lose-They got blown out , pole axed , taken to the woodshed by their Daddy , whatever saying you want to use , but they were whipped. Bucs have major personnel problems and if Jason Licht is unwilling to sign Ndamakong Suh to help rectify the utter impotence of our Dline , maybe Licht needs to look for another GM job.The guy the Bucs picked 1st in the draft Logan Hall had 0 Tacles and O Sacks-Hall has 1 tackle and 1 Sack for the entire season. Hicks, Gage, and Julio were major reaches that have not worked. Using a 4th rounder on a FREAKING PUNTER-Gimme a break-Aguayo wasted pick taught Licht nothing.
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:44 am
Suh was average at best when rushing the passer, however, he was elite in run defense. Even if Hicks was healthy I don’t think the Bucs would’ve feared any better. This is very concerning going forward.
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:48 am
We need to bring Suh back! He was so much better stopping the run with him here.
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:50 am
Got very frustrated, all he did all game was engage blockers. No effort to tackle!!! My 13 son plays same position for school ball and he was even calling him out? No effort…
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:50 am
Suh had 6 sacks last season-12th in the NFL. 2 sacks in the playoffs and caused a fumble in the Rams game that absolutely kept Bucs in the game. If you can immediately improve your team by adding a player-DO IT
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:54 am
Ask yourself why VV is not performing at his previous level from last year? What is different? VV does not have Suh is your answer.
October 3rd, 2022 at 9:55 am
Yeah, it was sickening knowing that we lost the game after about 5 mins of game time.
BUT all is not lost. Just gotta control the clock better and give our D time to adjust and rest.
CANT WIN GAMES RUNNING FOR ONLY 3 YARDS after abandoning the run game in THE FIRST QUARTER.
Did we not learn this lesson with Winston at QB. At least Tom didnt throw several picks in the process. BUT 3 and outs work in the same way. YOU JUST CANT WIN that way!!!
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:00 am
10-7 at best
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:05 am
I agree it was hard to watch their running backs getting 5 yards after contact……running over our defenders……
Not getting much help from JTS, Hall
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:08 am
They had to abandon the run game they were too far behind and the run was not effective. I would like them to be more creative with the run game for sure. Still really early into the season I see people saying the things the team had to deal with in terms of the weather and the hotel as excuses but I believe it played a big factor in the game even if people don’t want to hear it it is what it is and definitely had a heavy hand in the unpreparedness of the team. Team can still turn it around and Suh isnt the answer like people have said there is a reason he is still available some of that is his salary demands alot of it is film and I know some like to point at his statistics last season and still alot of why he is available is film.
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:21 am
Can’t believe I’m saying this but sign Suh. Stats obviously aren’t everything. Look at the middle of our Dline with and without Suh. Suh may have had a bad rating but we stopped the damn run when he was there. When was the last time we even gave up 80 yards with Suh let alone 180+. Wasted way to much money in the last two weeks to watch a trash product that is now tied in the division with Mariota and the Falcons..
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:22 am
We saw all signs pointing to our run defense being bad from game 1 against these power backs and power blocking O-lines. Zeke ran at will against us. Mark Ingram did great as well. So did AJ Dillon. Thanks to their offensive game plans, lack of a credible passing attack etc that they did not test our D-line in those games. The cowboys especially were idiotic in rotating hard hitting Zeke with lighter, shifty Pollard against us when Zeke was so effective early in the game. When our run defense gets exposed, we suddenly start looking F’ing clueless against pass too.
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:26 am
They had one bad game out of 4 … Let’s not stay up all night worrying about it … They got ran on because Bowles went with 3 down lineman the whole first half and dared them to run! And run they did! When he FINALLY put 4 down lineman there is when they started to slow the chiefs down! But it was far too late then … Bowles is a horrible head coach!!
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:26 am
The Pachecko guy definitely is a hard runner. Reminded me of Alstot. Bowling ball center of gravity, doesnt leave his feet easily, keeps churning. The Bucs were hitting hard last night, I will give them that. But discipline seemed to be ignored and the mindset to dominate your opponent just didnt appear to the viewer to be there. Im sure those guys on the field are giving it their all. Just look like intensity, discipline and professionalism was missing, admittedly easy to say from my couch.
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:26 am
You know who should be sick and on the street? The damn punter. Shi**y punts every game. Kickoffs out of bounds are clearly a recurring issue. Has not boomed a single punt. Where’s McAfee? Or anyone else for that matter?
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:27 am
How many times did the running back carry Bucs defenders for an extra 3 or 4 yards last night? They got bullied all game.
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:32 am
Vita got paid. It’s not the first time a player has cashed in and loafed. He’s a part-time player as it is. 93 and 90 were the alpha dogs up front. I know their skills are diminishing, but without them there’s no fire. None.
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:46 am
Hate to break it to Joe…
This Run defense in ‘19 and ‘20 wasn’t epic. Our secondary was so pathetic that nobody bothered to run on us.
Last nights performance looked like High Schoolers up against pros.
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:47 am
Soft and rich
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:53 am
Joe … ‘Next up is Atlanta, which is averaging a whopping 168 yards rushing this season.’
After watching the Falcons win yesterday, I concluded that they’ve got a legitimate run game, but not that much else. Mariota’s passing was meh (7-for-19 for 139 yds, 0 TDs & 1 INT). Their defense held the Browns to 20 points, but it was more about the Brownies shooting themselves in the foot than with what Atlanta did. Cleveland had the ball for 35:44 to Atlanta’s 24:16, ran the ball effectively (35 runs for 177 yds) & even passed OK (21-of-35 for 234 yds). But their 2 turnovers gave Atlanta 1 TD, and their failure to convert a 4th down on the Falcons 4-yd-line cost them big time.
We can beat them, providing that we don’t crap the bed like we did yesterday.
October 3rd, 2022 at 10:55 am
SUH!
October 3rd, 2022 at 11:05 am
The punter shanked a punt and had a kickoff go out of bounds. That’s all we get for a 4th round pick. Smh
October 3rd, 2022 at 11:11 am
If possible get Suh and rotate Hicks, Vea, and Suh the whole game keeping them fresh. The 2 KC running are short and may be hidden at times behind the big linemen.
October 3rd, 2022 at 11:14 am
Vea needs to just shut up and play . Along with these other defensive players. That was an embarrassment.
October 3rd, 2022 at 11:32 am
Hicks was supposed to be a run stopped.
But hes always been injured.
Guess what, still is.
Logan Hall is still invisible. JTS still runs himself out of the Play.
JPP looked good Sunday. Better than JTS
Suh is still better than Hicks/Hall combined.
I Predicted 9-8. Still sticking with it
October 3rd, 2022 at 11:37 am
Not that this matters much because it happens every game. BUT while rewatching some of this game. I noticed on several key plays that JTS and or Shaq got around their defender just to be lassoed around the neck and rode like a bull out of the play.
If those CLEAR AND OBVIOUS penalties get called. Our D forces KC to punt at LEAST two more times.
Again, not making any excuses here and I clearly missed it last night. Perhaps I got caught up in the mystic of Mahommie like the officials did?
October 3rd, 2022 at 11:41 am
I got us finishing maybe 10-7. And even that is going to take a mega effort. Our receivers are starting out injury prone and Godwin is not healed. Defenses are keying in on Lenny also. We make the playoffs but no ring this year guys. And with Brady leaving after this season, it could be a while. Thats why I thought Licht would have gone all out to solidify the O line. He did not. And we desperately needed another pass rusher.
October 3rd, 2022 at 11:43 am
Hated Sapp as a person, but as a player, he led.
Where is this team’s Sapp? Who leads?
Devin White and David sucked. The DBs sucked. Tryon sucked.
October 3rd, 2022 at 11:49 am
Crackwise… You’re right they were not calling ANYTHING last night!! I saw the Chiefs holding them multiple times and it never got called!!
October 3rd, 2022 at 12:03 pm
The whole DLine got their butts handed to them, Chiefs tilted the field on us from them jump and ran the ball down our necks. Bowling shoe ugly performance from a defense that we’d expect better from leading up to tonight, now it’s back to the drawing board for everybody.
Also, I wouldn’t be mad to let Anthony Nelson cut into JTS’ snaps, because I know they’re listed at “OLB”, but the job duties are that of a 4-3 DE in regards to setting the edge against the run and being able to beat your man 1 on 1 pressing the pocket. JTS helps RTs do their job by relying on his speed to beat them around the edge snap to snap, no inside move outside of the stunts and doing that makes it so he’s helping take himself out of the play more often than not. 2 weeks straight and our safety is the leading tackler? That’s not good at any level of football.
October 3rd, 2022 at 12:05 pm
Jason’s drafting is overrated boys
October 3rd, 2022 at 12:10 pm
I’ve never seen Vea pushed around like that. He was on his ass as much as standing up. The Chiefs have a good line, but what a pathetic performance. Vea was by no means the only one. If he continues to play like this, he makes too much to keep around. It’s been trending this way for a while now.
Suh alone isn’t solving their problems. How quickly some of you forget, the offense was the number 1 reason the run defense has looked so good. If teams can’t commit to the run, the battle is already won. This was an absolute beat down. If you can’t run, and can’t stop the run, it’s all fools gold.
October 3rd, 2022 at 12:17 pm
Maybe they will tighten it up versus Falcons if not consider signing Suh if he is in football condition
October 3rd, 2022 at 12:19 pm
SUH or 9-8!
October 3rd, 2022 at 12:24 pm
Capt.Tim Says:
October 3rd, 2022 at 11:32 am
… JTS still runs himself out of the Play.
JPP looked good Sunday. Better than JTS
Agree that JPP looked better than JTS yesterday but that is not saying much.
JPP had three tackles. One when Allen lost the center snap, the other two down field. I did not see JPP pressure the QB.
So better than JTS. I would not give him good. Plus, JPP will also be injured before the end of the year. Bank on it. That shoulder will be giving him problems.
Disappointed in Logan Hall after what I thought was a little mini breakout last week.
October 3rd, 2022 at 12:51 pm
The Chiefs literally ran right over him at the end of the game on 3rd and short.
Just being a tub of lard isn’t enough. Get in shape, kiddo. Then you won’t be winded after every other play.
October 3rd, 2022 at 12:52 pm
Falcons rush game is gonna be a problem.
October 3rd, 2022 at 12:57 pm
Suh’s PFF grade again the run last year was 57.1, not exactly stellar. He was out there a ton, and I think he wore down. If he were to come back, it would be as a rotational piece. One player can’t fix the run defense.
October 3rd, 2022 at 1:10 pm
I also feel sick to my stomach over the way Vea performed.
And by “performed”, I mean got shoved around like a giant sack of potatoes.
October 3rd, 2022 at 1:11 pm
– Shaq runs his mouth and gets manhandled almost the entire night.
– Devin White is the most overrated linebacker in the league. Can’t defend a pass to save his life, and still doesn’t even know how to properly tackle.
– For all his speed, JTS is always 2 steps away from actually making a play
– Vea is invisible. Through 4 games he’s made one single play. Maybe he should spend less time eating and more time practicing.
– Antoine Winfield has been struggling with these tall, fast receivers in the slot.
– Carlton Davis had his monthly bad game. This is why he’ll never actually be an elite cornerback. Still too inconsistent.
– Logan Hall went MIA again.
October 3rd, 2022 at 1:15 pm
It appears the Bucs outsmarted themselves by getting rid of 2 solid players in Suh and JPP and thinking their would be no drop off.
Only the Rays can do that.
October 3rd, 2022 at 1:24 pm
Darwin James looks mighty nice right now
October 3rd, 2022 at 1:30 pm
Our defense got seal clubbed last night. Still very early and our 2020 super bowl team got hammered during the regular season as well. I’m worried, but I trust our coaches to fix this nonesense.
October 3rd, 2022 at 1:35 pm
@Tbbucs3 –
Relying on JTS and Hall = Adrian Clayborn / Daquan Bowers 2.0
Gifting starting jobs to completely unproven players.
October 3rd, 2022 at 2:37 pm
@Buczilla, do you really trust this coaching staff? This team needs a good swift kick in the pants. Not sure Bowles is a strong enough personality to do that. They were not ready for what KC threw at them. It’s hard to motivate millionaires. If I were Bowles, I’d be threatening playing time.
October 3rd, 2022 at 4:56 pm
Might be a touch of overreaction going on here. BUT…
It’s evident that this defense misses Suh. Sadly, nobody has stepped up.
If this were a track meet, we’d have one of fastest front sevens in the NFL. It’s not, and we got pushed around last night.
October 3rd, 2022 at 5:30 pm
Vea is vastly overrated. Hardly noticeable against the run and a complete ghost vs the pass.
October 3rd, 2022 at 8:01 pm
Wow post removed
I guess I talked about the wrong exBuc
No clue to what you are referring. Not every post goes through. –Joe
October 3rd, 2022 at 8:27 pm
IDC what the Nextgen Stats say, we need Suh & JPP ASAP!
AND Rojo! And Tyler Johnson!
SMH @ all 4 of those personnel moves.
Boo! Hiss!
October 5th, 2022 at 8:53 am
JTS should be nicknamed “tiny dancer”. Not a force at all. Runs around lost in space. Takes himself out of the play and then has to chase the play. Nice guy. Good athlete. Not a football player. Should have been a power forward in basketball. Or a tight end in football???
