“He’s Competitive As Heck”

Receiver Cole Beasley

Todd Bowles won’t have to “bite the bullet” when it comes to putting newcomer receiver Cole Beasley in the game.

Speaking on the Buccaneers Radio Network, Bowles raved about how Beasley “made plays after two days of practice,” against Green Bay last Sunday. And Bowles likes his fire.

“He’s a competitor. he’s very smart,” Bowles said of Beasley. “He’s competitive as heck.”

Joe still fantasizes of Beasley one day joining, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Russell Gage and Julio Jones in the same lineup.

Yeah, Joe believes it will happen eventually. What a sweet day that will be, a historic dream scenario for any quarterback.

In the meantime, Joe thinks Beasley earned some Tom Brady trust with his three catches against the Packers, including a first-down catch that was a great display of hands.

Joe would be very surprised if Beasley doesn’t get at least another three catches on Sunday against the Chiefs.

Good to hear, and not surprising to hear given his history of production in the league. Initially I thought signing Beasley was a good addition, and I still do.

He can add a few different skill-sets than our current stable of pass-catching horses.

And yes, in a dream line-up, one would want Beasley in our 5-wide sets, if we ever get to see one as Joe alluded to.

There’ll be a day when we don’t move him on & off the PS and he makes the roster……and, when that day comes, and it will be soon because this week would make two (limit) Scotty is likely gone.

Is there even one JBF poster that would choose Scotty over Beasley?

  3. Pewter Power Says:

Well seems like he’s earning Scotty Miller snaps for sure. If Julio Jones could have played last week then between him, evans, gage and Beasley we should have enough firepower even if Godwin needs more time

    Whoop de Doo

  5. ViSyl Says:

Cole is the type of WR that Brady loves.

  6. Redeemer Says:

Beasley is a great addition. He can run those little stick routes all day. Once they get some bodies back, his role might actually increase. Teams will be much more focused on Godwin Evans, and Jones.

    Joe,
When are we getting specifics of the Beasley contract.

I think one of you thought it was 4 or 5 million a year.

    Let us know.

  8. Show Me the TDs Says:

As long as he doesn’t stretch out for a easy pass and hit the ground to avoid contact like he did last week.

Love this guy who kept nagging the GOAT for a job while he was ignoring the Bills and half a dozen other top tier teams who were after him. That tells you enough right there. He and Brady are likely working OT together. The O-line has to step up Sunday night. With Mike Evans, Perriman and Scotty taking the top off the Chiefs’ defense, Brady should be able to gouge them underneath with crossers, slants to Beasley and Gage. We’ve yet to see either of these two catch a ball in stride with room to run.

Have to add this: Bruce Arians should stay in the box upstairs. I believe that his exchange with Lattimore, who surely insulted/embarrassed Arians with his last long verbal shot, along with BA’s alleged egging on Mike Evans to “get out there”, at the very least added to the energy of Evans’ pancaking of Lattimore. Bucs would’ve easily beat their conference foe last week with Evans playing. Then again, the brawl fired up the Bucs. Still not a good look having BA on the dudelines especially with Bowles and Byron Leftwich both taking flak for the Bucs’ lackluster offensive however undeserved due to the unprecedented injuries to the starting receivers.

He is a good addition, but it was pretty clear Brady only trusted Fournette and Gage at the end of the game last week.

    His 3 catches Scooters

When / if that happens, Leftwich will call a QB draw up the gut.

    @ geno

Cole’s base salary is @ $360,722… No mention of incentives.

  14. Georger Says:

    Good by scooter

    @ocala

Beasley wasnt on the field late because he only knew so many plays. He joined literally days ago. It was like he was there and Brady was ignoring him. He finished all his snaps. and wasnt in the game…….

  16. teacherman777 Says:

    Diving catches. 4th down catches.

Beasley is one of the greatest slot receivers of all time. No hyperbole.

And one of the greatest undrafted receivers of all time.

    Cant believe he’s a Buccaneer!

lolololo As I posted before lol, that’s the “Rod Munch special” lololol

People can like it or not when it is brought up about BL calling “Up the gut” on first down for 1 or no yards, but just go back over the last 3 years and 3 games, and the “R Munch special” has been called way too many times by BL.

  18. Sucatkane Says:

It will never happen Joe our wr group other than Evans is glass you hit it to hard it shatters

  19. RightOnMan Says:

It matters not who our WR’s are if the play calling is this terrible. BL is a coordinator for a reason. That’s his ceiling in the NFL. Take away the Brady years and he’s looking very pedestrian. Hopefully he’s gone soon and we can start moving the ball.
