Game-Raising Lift For Packers

It seems the Packers are getting a Ryan Jensen-like shot in the arm.
Imagine if today was a crisp, early-January Sunday and Ryan Jensen was returning to the Buccaneers lineup for the first time.
It would be more than just a high-five for a great player returning. Many Bucs players and officials would talk about how Jensen makes the entire Bucs offense better because he’s an inspirational and tone-setting figure.
That’s what the Packers will enjoy today when their two-time All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari returns to the lineup against the Bucs. BSPN reports he will play.
Former Packers guard Mike Wahle was on SiriusXM NFL Radio yesterday explaining how Bakhtiari coming back after a long recovery from a blown knee in December 2020 is a massive lift for the offense. The way Whale described it, Joe immediately thought of Jensen. For those unaware, Bakhtiari came back last year but was inactive until November and barely played all season.
Interestingly, Wahle wasn’t saying the Bakhtiari would inspire the Packers to victory today at The Licht House.
Wahle thinks Todd Bowles’ defense is so damn special and creative that he’s not confident the Packers have enough to break through it. Joe agrees.

But Watkins is out. Bakhtiari is a good player. But Rodgers will have to search longer to find open receivers.

Bakhtiari…an all pro not long ago…is following the Sweezy Swindle blueprint of breaking down after a huge payday. Hopefully Shaq can get him on his heels today.

The guys at the Sports Bar last week were commenting on the then possibility that Bakhtiari would play. They called him “That Big Arab”. LOL, I had to set them straight about Bakhtiari . I told them that Bakhtiari is Iranian, and they said “Well then, he is from Iran, he is an Arab”.
I told them that people from Iran are NOT Arabs! They are Persians!
I had hope he would not play today because he is one of the best Tackles in the league, a devoted protector of Aaron Rogers.

Chris… Bakhtiari has been a fine defender for Rodgers…. when he is healthy. But the number of games he can start and finish the last couple years have been getting increasingly sparce. Can he start and finish this game? Maybe. But maybe not.

I must be missing something. Mike Wahle is a former PACKERS’ guard, is he not? Packers are averaging 5.6 YPC on run plays, are they not? Bucs are allowing 4.5 YPC average on run plays, are they not? Seems to me that the Pack has an advantage there. Also seems to me that they have Aaron Rodgers (a pretty decent QB), plus a very good backup in Jordan Love, who together are averaging 70% completions on the season, predominately with short stuff (which historically has been a bear for us to defend). Their defense is ranked #7 in the league, which is not that shabby. Particularly since our Bucs’ offense has been decimated by injuries.
These 2 teams are almost mirror-images of each other. What I expect is a low-scoring dogfight of epic proportions. Also expect that TURNOVERS & PRESSURE on the QBs will be the keys to this game. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if Special Teams also played a key role.

I agree with DR: these teams are almost identical in talent and scheme.
This could be a real slugfest unless one O breaks the mold and comes out on fire.
Weather gives the home team the advantage.

Packer.. Rodgers will be tripping, and I expect he will think he is throwing Frisbees in Cali during the offseason to a porpoise. He will get PO’ed when he thinks they are whistling at him, throw a few INTs, And Bucs win.
